If Suming rembered correctly, he tasked Shen Yan with setting up a data analysis team less than a week ago. Establishing this team was inspired by Xiangjiang Ocean Park and was ant as part of a long-term plan. He truly didn't expect the team to be effective in such a short ti—in fact, he would have accepted even if there were no results within one or two years.
To his surprise, just one week later, not only had Shen Yan established the analysis team, but there were even so initial results from their work.
Shen Yan's dedication wasn't without reason.
There's a saying, "A man would die for those who appreciate him," and another goes, "Money makes the mare to go." If a boss can provide employees with generous financial compensation and truly respects and understands them, then there's no reason for them not to give their all for the company.
In the beginning, Shen Yan's company was responsible for the online platform construction of a zoo. Seeing that Shen Yan was reliable in his work, Suming quickly entrusted him with the responsibility of all IT construction, both software and hardware, for the zoo and several of his other companies. Now, Suming had beco Shen Yan's biggest 'boss,' and to so extent, he certainly had provided Shen Yan with wealth as well as trust and affirmation.
Great minds admire each other; Shen Yan, a self-made entrepreneur, admired talented individuals the most. After interacting with Suming for an extended period, he ca to regard his old classmate as soone capable yet unpretentious, flexible yet principled, and even ca to see Suming as a role model.
Combining all these factors, a casual remark from Suming beca an important task in Shen Yan's eyes, and naturally, he devoted himself to it wholeheartedly.
After Suming ntioned data analysis the last ti, Shen Yan pulled two young employees from his company that very day, and along with himself, ford a three-person team.
The team was small, but technical work never relied on sheer numbers. Three technically skilled and passionate young people imrsed themselves entirely in the job; they collected and consolidated data from the zoo's information system, including the live streaming platform, conducted filtering and analysis, and targeted areas of the zoo's operations that showed anomalies or particular characteristics in the data, resulting in so achievents in a short period of ti.
No matter the size of the achievents, Shen Yan's attitude definitely deserved recognition. Suming made a special trip to Shen Yan's company to listen to the report.
The company was in a sowhat out-of-the-way dual-use comrcial and residential building, a four-bedroom apartnt modestly converted into an office space. There were only about seven or eight employees, all young people brimming with positive energy and full of aspirations for the future.
The three-person data analysis team, aside from Shen Yan, included a man and a woman.
"Mr. Su, this ti we mainly analyzed the visitor flow of each room in the live streaming platform. The data source was from the 7*24 hour monitoring after the live streaming platform beca relatively stable. Xu, please give us the details."
The female team mber, Xu, wore glasses, had a few freckles on her face but looked quite delicate. Reporting face-to-face with 'the boss of her boss,' Xu was sowhat nervous. She coughed, cleared her throat, and using the small dot of a laser pointer, began pointing to the graphical representations on the projection screen.
"Mr. Su, please look at the first graph. This is a collection of traffic and gift revenues from each room."
Three bar charts, with two bars for each room; one representing the total visitor count during the survey period and the other, the total revenue for that room. Altogether, the three charts featured dozens of paired bars, representing each of the zoo's live streaming rooms. The bars varied in height, with the tallest one being more than tenfold the shortest one.
"We have arranged these charts in order, and as you can see, there is a direct correlation between total visitor traffic and total revenue—rooms with higher traffic generate higher revenues..."
This observation was so obvious that after Xu stated it, she probably felt it was redundant and smiled sheepishly.
Suming nodded slightly, encouraging her with his eyes to continue.
"Right, based on revenue and visitor traffic, we classified the live streaming rooms into three categories."
Another team mber, He, clicked on the computer, and on the large screen, so of the bars in the bar graph suddenly changed color.
"The ones that changed color represent the rooms with presenters. Mr. Su, we've discovered a very interesting phenonon," Xu said, emphasizing her point as she reached the heart of the matter.
The top-tier rooms weren't necessarily each hosted by a presenter, while several of the bottom-tier rooms actually had presenters.
Rooms with human presenters showed a distribution that was heavy at both ends and light in the middle; that is, rooms that were either very profitable or very unprofitable included a considerable number of live human presenters.
Suming's eyes brightened; this was indeed a noteworthy issue.
Common sense would suggest that human presenters should increase a room's traffic.
Yet, according to this data, that's not the case.
"We went to the zoo for a field investigation and found that the difference in actual visitor flow between the lowest and the highest tier rooms was not significant. Therefore, the problem should lie with the broadcasters, so we gathered so representative broadcaster profiles and recordings of their live sessions..."
On one side of the screen, a list of avatars and personal profiles appeared.
Among them were five pretty girls. Only one of these five girls had a room in the top tier, two were in the second tier, and two were in the third tier.
This was even more interesting.
Initially, when Suming had Wang Hao choose people, he emphasized not to pick those who were too flirtatious and that the live streaming platform couldn't rely on vulgarity for highlights. This was to prevent crossing red lines and to build a green platform.
If this issue wasn't considered, pretty girls, coupled with flirtatious behavior, would certainly attract more viewers.
Now, many online live streaming platforms, whether they claim to be gaming live streams or sothing else, all operate like this.
So, in order to ensure the 'purity' of the live streaming platform, Suming sacrificed a certain amount of profit.
But now it seed that wasn't the case; the performances of the pretty female broadcasters were mostly below average, including the 'girl-next-door goddess' introduced by Ren Chen, who was at the very bottom.
Next, Suming watched several live streaming videos.
The more a female broadcaster deliberately flaunted her sexuality during the live stream, tried to stand out, or even actively asked for gifts, the poorer her performance was. Such rooms had a low frequency of receiving gifts but occasionally would get a big gift from a wealthy patron.
In contrast, rooms in the top tier received fewer big gifts but had a continuous stream of smaller gifts.
"Could it be because the audience for the zoo live streaming platform is different from other platforms?" Suming asked.
"We speculated that as well. But speculation alone isn't enough; we need scientific data to prove it, so we gathered so additional data to support our hypothesis."
The projector screen changed to several clearly contrasting line graphs, analyzing the custor demographics of the live streaming platform.
"Based on ti, the peak visitor traffic of the zoo live streaming platform is concentrated on weekends, mornings, and afternoons, with relatively few in the evening, and almost no one after ten o'clock at night; whereas the platforms you ntioned that rely on..."
Xu almost let the term "flirtatious behavior" slip, which was no issue for Suming to say, but as a girl, she was embarrassed to say it outright, so she chose a different word, "Um, platforms that rely on pretty girls to draw attention, on the contrary, have their main viewing tis in the evening and early morning, with relatively few custors during working hours.
Additionally, Shen has conducted several surveys showing that our platform users are 44% female, while the proportion of won on other platforms is less than 15%; in terms of age demographics, both our platform and the others have a high percentage of users under 18 years of age, but we also have 23% of users over forty, whereas the other platforms only have 6%..."
The analysis team provided several more data sets, even detailing instances when audiences were most likely to tip.
Finally, they presented a report that thoroughly analyzed the audience characteristics of the zoo live streaming platform and based on this, proposed several highly targeted developnt and revision suggestions.
"Very good!" Mr. Su only took a brief glance at the analysis report and was imdiately impressed.
This data analysis was like a company's automatic navigation system; by simply following the direction indicated by the navigation system, there would be no major deviations.
"Mr. Su, in professional terms, we call this a managent cockpit. Of course, what you see today is just a glimpse of the managent cockpit, it still needs to be perfected," Xu explained with a smile.
"Yes, that's a fitting na," Mr. Su nodded with satisfaction. "Shen, continue working on the managent cockpit in this direction, and incorporate it into my several companies. If you need funding, just send a report."
With this report, not only did Suming grasp a clear understanding of the operation of the online platform, but he also saw the direction for the developnt of cultural and ideological progress.
