Chapter 2258: Chapter 2322: Catching the Real Culprit

Andisto and the others also saw Babua. Initially, so wanted to angrily question Babua, but as soon as Andisto and the others saw this scene, doubts arose in their hearts, so naturally, they wouldn’t easily question. After Li Yifei forced Andrew to retreat, Andisto’s suspicions were further confird. He glanced past Li Yifei, looking at the Holy Maiden and Babua, and asked with a calm expression, "Holy Maiden, Elder Babua, now that everyone is here, let’s explain the situation!"

Babua felt infinitely wronged in his heart, along with infinite frustration, especially towards Andisto and Andrew. As once good allies, at least allies within the Holy War Organization, their recent behavior disgusted Babua. Thinking back, he felt his chest tighten with an indescribable anger, so upon hearing Andisto’s question, he snorted, "A bunch of idiots, played like fools by that damn Mus!"

"Babua, watch your words and actions!" Soone imdiately responded disgruntledly.

Babua was fearless, staring down the person with his neck straight, cursing, "You damn well co over if you’re displeased. See if I won’t hit you. Damn it, I’ve been wronged by you all for so long, and I can’t even curse you now? Just a bunch of self-righteous fools, that’s all you are!"

Andisto frowned and said, "Babua, stop talking for now. Regarding your misunderstanding, once the investigation is clear, I will apologize to you. But for now, I need to understand the truth of the situation!"

"Still need the truth? Isn’t it right in front of you? Don’t tell

you can’t see it!" Babua pointed to Mus, lying faint and unconscious on the ground.

Li Yifei, seeing these people weren’t prepared to fight, directly turned and stepped over Mus, walking towards the Holy Maiden. He noticed the knife still in her abdon, checked the wound, pointed a few tis around it to seal the acupuncture points and reduce bleeding, then said, "Bear with it, I’ll pull the knife out first!"

"Mmm!" The Holy Maiden nodded. Li Yifei pulled out the knife, imdiately stopped the bleeding, and Andisto and the others, witnessing this, couldn’t bla Li Yifei, so they instructed people to bandage and treat the Holy Maiden’s wound.

"Babua, recreate the situation for us. We were outside and didn’t see the specific events." The female elder who had helped the Holy Maiden spoke up.

"Haha!" Babua responded with a cold laugh, thinking this woman had a good relationship with Mus, so he didn’t have a good impression of her either. Andrew then spoke gruffly, "Elder Babua, what’s really going on? If you’re innocent, I’ll apologize to you imdiately."

"Save it, idiot!" Babua glanced at him disdainfully and continued, "Things aren’t complicated. Today, after you all judged

and I fainted out of anger, I woke up not in a cell but in a forest. I had been shot in the chest, feeling weak all over just like now, and realized I had been inexplicably moved there, so I quickly ran away..."

"Wait, why did you run? Wouldn’t it be better to co back?"

"Nonsense! Damn it, if I ca back then, it would be suicide! Don’t think I don’t know your nature. Once determined guilty, if discovered that I escaped, you’d surely kill

directly!" Babua said disdainfully.

Andisto raised his hand to signal everyone to be quiet and said, "Babua, please continue."

"Luckily, I encountered Golden Eagle; he wasn’t dead, and you can guess the reason. We analyzed that the real killer might act today, so we sneaked in, infiltrated the ancient castle, and hid there. We witnessed Andisto, Andrew, and Mus arrive, but our targets were basically narrowed down to you three." Saying this, Babua’s gaze swept over Andisto and Andrew with disdain, then added, "Andisto, you shortsighted bunch actually believed I was the killer!"

"Babua, continue your story!" Facing the mocking, Andisto couldn’t say anything.

Babua let out a cold laugh and continued narrating the rest. Since Li Yifei had helped him, Babua also ntioned Li Yifei favorably during his recounting.

Of course, Li Yifei didn’t express gratitude, he simply gave a faint smile.

After hearing Babua’s account, Andisto and the others felt not only embarrassed but incredibly angry, because each of them had been fooled by Mus. Especially tonight, even the cunning elders had been tricked to chase after the fleeing "Babua."

Babua clearly didn’t care about their feelings and after finishing, he mocked, "Living all these years for nothing, a bunch of idiots!"

"Babuya, that’s enough. You’re smart, why don’t you prove your innocence?" Andrew’s heart was filled with anger. After hearing Babuya’s sarcasm and belittling, he couldn’t help but shout.

"Shut up, you’re the dumbest one!" Babua directly retorted!

"You!" Andrew was again stopped by Andisto, whose voice carried a cold tone, "Imdiately lock up Mus, wake him up, we’ll hold an Elder’s Council now, and everyone irrelevant, get out!"

Who were the irrelevant people asked to leave? Naturally, those mbers of the Holy War Organization who did not have a high enough rank were considered irrelevant. So, however, directly looked at Li Yifei, who was at that mont holding the Saintess’s hand, transferring True Qi to help her treat the injuries on her arm and under her ribs. Although the wound under the ribs wasn’t severe, it had been stabbed five or six centiters deep, injuring internal organs and needing urgent treatnt.

Seeing people looking at Li Yifei, the Saintess’s expression imdiately changed, and she said, "Without Golden Eagle, not only would I be in danger today, but the Holy Church would also be in crisis. So not only do I personally need to thank him, but the Holy Church also needs to thank him. Elders, to repay kindness is what you have taught !"

After the Saintess finished speaking, several elders’ expressions changed a bit. The female elder stepped forward, her expression equally uneasy, but her tone was acceptable, saying, "Alright, let Golden Eagle listen in, after all... this matter also concerns him."

The other elders had nothing further to say, and Andisto also acquiesced to Li Yifei staying there. However, Li Yifei actually did not care to be there. His expression was indifferent, serene like the wind and clouds, while internally, he was swiftly analyzing each elder. There were a total of ten elders, with two previously outside now returning. Excluding Mus and Babua, the remaining eight were nothing much.

Of course, the strength of these people was extrely formidable. They were part of the largest organization in the United States and the entire Western world, a religious organization with strong influence, boasting hundreds of thousands of followers. These ten individuals were the highest authority in the entire Holy War Organization, ten top experts, together with the Saintess, they presented a formidable presence. Li Yifei silently absorbed the feeling.

In his own country, he had seen at most five or six Innate Experts gathered together, and back then, they were all on the sa side. But now he faced at least ten top experts alone, who knew his identity and wouldn’t be kind to him, with their words and attitudes filled with hostility.

However, due to his character, he naturally didn’t care. Just as before, on the surface, he couldn’t let down the prestige of a Huaxia expert. At least when he clashed with Elder Andrew earlier, he displayed enough vigor to make the others realize Li Yifei was indeed strong. Internally, Li Yifei would not be overly arrogant; he also acknowledged the other’s strength, particularly as he was currently in the enemy’s stronghold.

Quickly, so Temple Guard personnel went over to bind Elder Mus with a special chain and wake him up. Remaining on the ground floor of the Sleeping Palace were those with sufficient authority within the Holy War Organization: nine elders plus the Saintess, and more than a dozen important mbers. These people wore varied expressions; so showed evident hatred towards Mus and the situation, while others lowered their eyes in contemplation, and so expressed disdain, like Babua, who was now full of anger and grievance with nowhere to vent.

Mus slowly awoke, opened his eyes, and upon seeing the surrounding people, his expression turned somber; he let out a mocking laugh and shook his head.

Andisto and others either sat or stood, their expressions changing as Mus woke up. Andrew couldn’t hold back and took a few steps forward, glaring as he asked, "Mus, you damn bastard, why did you do this?"

Mus rely glanced at him indifferently, seemingly unwilling to answer the question. Andrew was about to act, but soone beside him held him back. Andisto said, "Mus, since the establishnt of our Holy Church, there has never been a case of assassinating the Saintess. But I believe you must have your reasons for doing this. Now, state your reasons."

"Why should I speak?" At this mont, Mus seed to have cald down a bit; he sat on the ground, placing his hands on his knees, and slowly raised his head to look at everyone.

Andisto said, "Because you lost. Right now, you are a defeated person!"

"Hahaha!" Mus threw his head back and laughed heartily. After his laughter subsided, he turned to Li Yifei, saying, "I lost to the Golden Eagle, not to you. What are you so happy about!"

Following Babua’s taunts to the group of elders, Mus’s awakening dealt them another blow, making many faces darken. Mus didn’t care; he looked at Li Yifei and continued, "Golden Eagle, you are very good, worthy of being the new generation of Huaxia’s strongn. Not only are your skills formidable, but your mind is clear. Of course, what matters most is your luck; even a missile couldn’t kill you, and you had the fortune to encounter that foolish Babua. I have nothing more to say!"

Li Yifei hadn’t expected such praise from his opponent and was sowhat surprised, but he didn’t find it pleasant. He rely nodded with a calm deanor. The Saintess at his side, however, smiled. Though she hated Mus, the praise was directed at her beloved, giving her a sense of shared pride.
