Chapter 2246: Chapter 2310: Elder Oisi’s Gesture of Goodwill
Seeing Elder Oisi waiting outside the door, the Saintess almost imdiately guessed so of his intentions, a slight smile appearing on her face as she stepped forward and said, "Elder Oisi!"
"Oh, hello Saintess!" the Saintess replied.
"Can we... go inside and talk?" Elder Oisi appeared to be around forty years old, and if dressed up, could even pass for being in his thirties, which was quite young. Moreover, he was handso and tall, a university professor by trade, highly knowledgeable with nurous laboratories under his na, reportedly having researched many world-class scientific achievents. Yet, no one could understand why soone this successful would be an elder in the Holy War Organization. If the public knew, it would definitely be shocking.
The Saintess had no choice but to say, "Please, Elder Oisi, co in."
Within the organization, the Saintess seed to have had little contact with Elder Oisi in recent years, especially since he was the lowest-ranking elder, without much say. He might have to wait until many of the old geezers passed away before Elder Oisi could have so influence in the Elder’s Council, but that also depended on those old geezers not living too long.
They sat down, the Saintess at ease, not imdiately asking any questions. After so small talk, Oisi smiled warmly and said, "Saintess, actually, I ca today because there is sothing I want to tell you."
It’s here, the Saintess nodded slightly, setting down her coffee cup, a smile on her face, "Please speak, Elder Oisi."
Oisi leaned back, adjusted his suit and shirt, then said, "Saintess, I know so things that I thought might be helpful to you, so I’m here to tell you now."
"So things?" The Saintess smiled faintly upon hearing this and asked, "I wonder what kind of things they are."
"About your attack!" Oisi replied.
The Saintess’s expression turned alert, "Elder Oisi, I’m not sure I understand."
"I know so secret things that I believe might be of help to you, so I’ve co to tell you now," Oisi said.
The Saintess said, "If you know these things, Elder Oisi, why didn’t you say it publicly in the grand hall but chose to tell
privately instead?"
"Heh, speaking so things out loud might not necessarily be believed by others, not to ntion there’s no reason to say them," Oisi smiled faintly.
"So why co specifically to tell
now?" the Saintess asked.
Oisi slowly shook his head, then said, "Actually, it’s not about telling you, I just wanted to... make a trade with you."
The Saintess laughed, and after a full minute, she finally said, "In that case, please state your request, Elder Oisi, but I can’t guarantee I’ll agree, since I still don’t know what your information is."
"Haha, it should be this way!" Oisi laughed heartily before saying, "Actually, my request is not difficult; I hope to gain your friendship, Saintess."
"Is that all?"
"Yes, I can’t very well say we can unite, Saintess!" Oisi ant to make a joke, but the Saintess’s face turned cold, her eyes shining with a cold light, staring at him as she said coldly, "Elder Oisi, I hope you have self-respect. If this is your attitude, I have no friendship to offer you."
"Oh, sorry, I misspoke!" Elder Oisi felt a little disappointed when he saw the Saintess’s attitude, realizing the rumors were true: the Saintess was truly devoted to that Huaxia’s Golden Eagle. He was observing the Saintess, and seeing her expression and response, he knew he shouldn’t continue with this topic, or she might really turn against him. Although the Saintess had no way to deal with Andisto and other old geezers, if she were to fall out with Oisi, even without her title, she could still have the upper hand.
"Please refrain from making such jokes in the future, Elder Oisi. If that’s your only request, I can agree to it, but only within certain limits."
"Of course, I won’t hide it from you either. The reason I wanted to speak to you privately has only this purpose; you know I’m still young and only recently beca an elder, aning I have no foundation, so I need allies."
"I’m no longer the Saintess..."
"That doesn’t matter, but your strength remains..."
"If that’s all you need, then in critical monts, I can help you!" The Saintess made a quick decision. Though she had little contact with Oisi, she had heard of him. Oisi could enter the organization not only due to his personal abilities but also because of other factors. The organization needed smart people, and Oisi’s identity as a university professor scored him many points, though his personal power was sowhat lacking. However, he had good relations with certain families, holding so ard forces.
Oisi extended his hand, smiling warmly, and after a pause, the Saintess extended her hand to shake his.
After the handshake, Oisi chuckled and said, "I know where Owen is."
"What?" Even though the Saintess was prepared, she couldn’t help but be a little surprised upon hearing this news.
Seeing the Saintess’s expression, Oisi didn’t leave her guessing and said, "In fact, not long after Owen escaped, that night, I already knew his whereabouts. But he was already dead then!"
"Dead?" The Saintess’s eyelids twitched. Her mind was sharp, knowing Oisi’s visit to her was without reason. Was it just to ask for her friendship? But was that really the case? The Saintess couldn’t help but ask, "How did Owen die?"
"I didn’t see the body myself, but my subordinate reported that Owen was killed, shot. Although he was holding a Desert Eagle to his temple and appeared to commit suicide, that was just an appearance. The real cause of death was murder; soone was holding his hand, making him kill himself!"
"Where?"
"By the Wood River, a little river where my man just happened to reside. Of course, he was a minor character, and after seeing the body, he imdiately reported it up to , at which point I confird it was the missing Owen, Elder Babua’s disciple."
"Shot in the head with a Desert Eagle?"
"Yes, a Desert Eagle, large caliber, blew half his head off, the rest bloodied and unrecognizable. If not for the ID he carried, it might have been impossible to identify him."
"There wouldn’t be any faking death..."
"The latest DNA report confird it. It was indeed Owen, and it was murder!" Elder Oisi said. He continuously observed the Saintess’s reaction. He had another reason for not revealing the matter earlier: to avoid trouble. The general was killed, followed by the suspected Owen. The matter escalated, directly pointing at Elder Babua. If a highly respected elder were proven to have plotted against the Saintess, it would be an earthquake to the Holy War Organization. Perhaps Oisi could take a leap upwards in rank, but likewise, if Owen’s corpse was discovered by him, he might also be caught up in it.
After all, what a coincidence it was that his man discovered Owen. Those were his thoughts at the ti, and after the confrontation this morning, Oisi was even more reluctant to present the body. Otherwise, people would surely question his motives: when did you find the body, and why reveal it only now...
Only soone not a fool could beco an elder. Oisi couldn’t lie, and the Holy War Organization was just too vast and powerful...
Thinking it over, Oisi had no choice but to approach the Saintess, hoping she could help, aning entrusting her with the body and removing himself from this matter.
Seeing the Saintess’s silence, Oisi then said, "Saintess, I’ll be frank. Regardless of which elder did this or if there’s a traitor in the organization, with you, the Chief Elder, and other elders present, it shouldn’t have been
who found this body. I don’t want this trouble, or it might backfire on ."
The Saintess nodded gently in thought, "But it’s also a trouble for ..."
"Okay, hand the body over to , and I’ll handle it, Elder Oisi. I’ll make sure you’re removed from this affair!"
"Thanks. Although I know this isn’t very heroic, I can’t help it. I hate the person who tried to kill you from the shadows, but I have no influence and no good solutions."
"I only have one thing to do now—find that person and kill him!" the Saintess said with a smile, her eyes flashing with a killing intent. Oisi felt an impulse to swallow.
The two agreed on a ti and place for handing over the body. Before leaving, Oisi suddenly stopped and looked back at the Saintess, saying, "Saintess, I know you’re eager for revenge, but perhaps you should be cautious and preferably pull in so allies; otherwise, toppling an elder might be difficult."
"Okay, I’ll keep that in mind!" the Saintess nodded.
Walking out, Oisi looked up at the sky and sighed. He had another purpose in coming today; he originally wanted to gauge the Saintess’s attitude towards him. If it was good, Oisi considered whether to cultivate a relationship with the Saintess in the coming years. It was well-known that while the Saintess might not be the strongest in the organization, she was certainly a formidable master. If anything happened between them, it would be a significant advantage for him... Unfortunately, the Saintess’s attitude towards him was cold and defensive, prompting Oisi to sigh.
Of course, he had long expected this result. After all, once Owen’s body was ntioned, the Saintess would imdiately beco wary of him.
Walking a distance away, Oisi looked around, a disdainful smile crossing his face. He ca looking for the Saintess, but who knew what he ca to find her for? Those lurking in the shadows, Oisi shook his head...
Oisi left, and the Saintess sat back down. Although she had news of Owen, she wasn’t exactly happy because the clues ran dry. Besides knowing that Owen was murdered, it was said there was no useful information at the scene. Of course, that was assuming Oisi was telling the truth. If he ca to mislead her... it would an that Oisi might be in league with those opposing her, or Oisi himself could be the one who tried to assassinate her, though that possibility seed slim. But now, every elder was a suspect.
