Chapter 2235: Chapter 2299: Missile
"You lost?" Li Yifei looked at the Saintess and asked subconsciously. After all, the Saintess had fallen to the ground, the gem of the Saint’s Scepter was shattered, and it seed that the scepter would be useless in the future.
The expression on the Saintess’s face was complicated. She was in pain, despite having given her best effort, but still unable to kill Li Yifei. This ant she couldn’t overco her inner struggle, which ant she would be stuck at her current level for life, unable to advance further. It also ant she could no longer be the Saintess of the Holy War Organization, and ultimately... she would be with Li Yifei.
Her lips trembled, her physical injuries were secondary, but the struggle in her heart made it hard for the Saintess to say those three words, even though she already understood she had lost and had no chance of defeating Li Yifei again. Achieving this was already very lucky.
However, admitting defeat was incredibly difficult for the Saintess. She looked at Li Yifei, his expression returning to normal, his clothes torn with a wound on his chest still bleeding, and blood at the corner of his mouth. He fought hard, but his injuries weren’t severe.
At this mont, the Saintess was exhausted. When she summoned the Saint’s Scepter, she was actually making a desperate attempt, with a sense of success or martyrdom. Even though she knew Li Yifei wouldn’t kill her, she had to give it her all, even if it ant fighting to the death.
When she made the final move to summon the divine power of the Hellhound, the Saintess was gambling. Her cultivation wasn’t enough to summon the divine power of the Hellhound, and doing it forcibly was sure to greatly harm her body.
Fortunately, she managed to summon the Hellhound. Unfortunately, even after summoning its divine power, she still couldn’t defeat Li Yifei. He found a weak point and broke through, causing the Saintess to suffer a backlash, vomit blood, and fall heavily injured.
Li Yifei wasn’t clear on these details, but seeing the Saintess injured, he could roughly guess. He put away the Mohist War Blade and walked toward the Saintess slowly, giving her ti to recover. Saying those three words was extrely difficult for her.
The Saintess closed her eyes, tears in her eyes, tears like blood, her body trembling slightly.
Just as Li Yifei was about to say sothing to comfort her, even calling her na ’Yanzi’, he suddenly felt a warning in his heart, a battlefield-honed sense of danger. He felt locked onto by sothing and quickly turned around to see what seed like a mosquito suddenly flying out of the clouds.
It could only be described as a mosquito because of the great distance, only visible thanks to Li Yifei’s good eyesight. If it were a mosquito, it couldn’t possibly fly that high or be seen from such a distance by Li Yifei.
So... it was a plane! Li Yifei imdiately recognized it, and at this ti the plane was flying at high speed. Within seconds, it flew to a straight-line distance of less than three kiloters from them, and Li Yifei finally saw clearly what kind of plane it was.
A drone, it was a drone, and not a reconnaissance drone, but one carrying missiles.
Upon discovering the missile, Li Yifei knew trouble was coming. He wasn’t sure who sent the drone or how they found them, but he knew the drone had fired a missile. A small missile hung under the wing was being driven towards the reef where the two of them were located.
Li Yifei imdiately turned back and shouted to the Saintess, "Be careful!"
The Saintess opened her eyes in surprise, seeing Li Yifei rushing toward her. She didn’t know what was happening but sensed the fear in Li Yifei’s expression. Instinctively, she tried to move back, but this unnecessary movent led to Li Yifei getting hurt.
Li Yifei lunged at the Saintess. Within those brief two to three seconds, he could have escaped, at least ran outside the explosion range of the bomb. The missile looked small, unlikely to cause a large blast radius. But the Saintess was still injured and unable to move, so Li Yifei couldn’t leave her and rushed over, but the Saintess moved back, holding the Saint’s Scepter, whose gem was gone, leaving a sharp tip...
Li Yifei lunged forward, and the Saint’s Scepter pierced into his abdon, going deeply, penetrating through. He didn’t expect this, and the Saintess was stunned, crying out in shock.
"Ugh..." Li Yifei groaned, eyes filled with pain, but there was no ti to say much. He imdiately used the True Qi Armor thod learned from the Bare-ass General, even utilizing his Innate Vital Energy. In a matter of seconds, Li Yifei ford two layers of True Qi Armor, concentrating on his back, shaping a turtle shell-like armor covering the two of them.
By coincidence, the place where the Saintess lay had a gully cut by Li Yifei’s blade energy during their fight. Li Yifei hurriedly pushed the Saintess into it, pressing his body against hers.
The Saintess didn’t know what was happening, couldn’t even ask, as Li Yifei pressed down on her. In those brief seconds, not too long or short, the Saintess knew Li Yifei wouldn’t do sothing pointless, knowing it had a purpose, only she was more worried about Li Yifei’s injury!
"Yifei, are you alright!"
"Shut up, protect yourself!" Li Yifei shouted fiercely. Just then, a whistling sound filled their ears, like a whistle blowing, followed by an earthquake-like sound, a roar. The ground shook, and Li Yifei held the Saintess tightly.
Luckily, the missile didn’t land on them but fell more than ten ters away, less than twenty ters. Although not the first impact point, it was still wild.
The drone flew past, dropping a missile on the uninhabited island reef at precisely the mont of their final critical fight when the victor had erged. This missile dropped, with almost no chance to escape, with at least one of them destined to die.
Even if Li Yifei had escaped, it wouldn’t have been any better, but the video feedback from the drone showed that neither escaped, which made soone hundreds of kiloters away in a certain room reveal a satisfied smile, lighting up a Cuban Cigar, taking a deep inhale while ordering the drone to return. Being hit by a missile, people, not even steel, could hardly survive.
After the explosion, dust settled. The creatures on the island were quite unlucky today, first experiencing raging storms, hard to endure, albeit frequent. But the subsequent fight must have been like a deity’s wrath if the creatures were ever to evolve intelligence, recalling what they’d been through, comparable to humans fantasizing about gods.
Even so, though so were affected, many survived, but the missile drop ant survival for those within that range was impossible, with the explosive force impacting the entire reef. And on that island were Li Yifei and the Saintess...
Fortunately, the island had nothing flammable, so after the explosion, dust settled, leaving only shattered rocks and a pit several ters deep while the air was filled with the scent of gunpowder. Seabirds, which would usually land on the island, dared not stay anymore, flying far to another island reef. The once vibrant island instantly beca lifeless.
No one knows how long passed before there was a movent from within the rubble pit, weak but existent. With this slight vibration ca more actions, sothing moving under the rubble, and not sothing small.
The movent gradually intensified, and soon sothing slowly crawled out, a person, in tattered clothes, covered in dust, battered and bruised, with dried blood stains over the body. It was the Saintess. She crawled out from the debris, and upon erging, she didn’t take ti to rest but turned to clear those stones, tossing them far away.
Though sharp pieces of rubble could cut, the Saintess seed indifferent. She continuously grabbed the rubble and threw it far, again and again, persisting for over an hour, clearing stones from a few square ters in front of her, pushing deeper, until ultimately revealing a person’s back within the pit, charred, its blood dried into black, with flesh decaying, leaving a ssy surface.
It was none other than Li Yifei. Seeing him made the Saintess want to cry, but it wasn’t the ti for tears. She had to rescue Li Yifei swiftly, though her condition was also poor, body covered with injuries, perhaps having suffered the worst in her life, but she cared not, continuing to remove the stones weighing down on Li Yifei, her hands already worn, bloody and shredded.
For another ten-plus minutes, the Saintess finally saw Li Yifei’s head, holding his head, checking for a pulse. Li Yifei still had a heartbeat, though weak and slow, an estimated ten beats per minute instead of the normal seventy to eighty, a highly abnormal and dangerous state.
The intense shockwave from the explosion hit Li Yifei first, breaking through his two layers of True Qi Armor. His body bore the subsequent impact, weakened yet not from flesh alone, luckily shielded by True Qi, preventing his body from being blasted apart.
The Saintess, protected beneath him, fared relatively better. Though she too endured the shock, with Li Yifei’s body shielding her, she didn’t suffer as much from the explosion. Despite sustaining several injuries with her body’s poor state, she must rescue Li Yifei.
