Chapter 1337: Chapter 1387: Leaving Miao Village

Miao won are passionate, bold, and wholeheartedly dedicated in love, but that doesn’t an they fully understand everything in this regard. When both of them were left only in their underwear, Na Yi blushed deeply and didn’t know what to do next.

Li Yifei, however, didn’t feel so awkward. He smiled gently and took Na Yi’s small hand in his own, only to find that her palm was already damp with sweat. It was clear she was as clueless about what to do next as he was.

Pointing to the bed, Li Yifei led Na Yi to its edge and helped her onto the bed first before climbing on himself.

Feeling Na Yi lying stiffly on the bed, not moving an inch, Li Yifei couldn’t help but find the situation sowhat absurd and funny. Turning onto his side, he slipped an arm beneath Na Yi’s neck, gently exerted a bit of force, and she turned sideways, snuggling into his embrace. Her breath was fiery, brushing warmly against Li Yifei’s chest.

With his other hand, Li Yifei placed it softly on Na Yi’s back, speaking in a tender voice, "Alright, let’s sleep now."

Na Yi nestled in Li Yifei’s arms, remaining perfectly still. She thought there must be sothing Li Yifei ought to do at this mont, yet she didn’t know what it could be. But Li Yifei, instead of doing anything, simply held her close. This left Na Yi feeling a little lost.

After a while, Na Yi raised her head, gazing at Li Yifei under the moonlight streaming through the window. Sensing her eyes on him, Li Yifei lowered his head to et her gaze, smiled faintly, and leaned down to gently kiss her forehead.

Na Yi returned his gesture with a sweet smile and burrowed further into his embrace.

Li Yifei patted her back again and said, "Sleep now." Then he closed his eyes.

Seeing him close his eyes, Na Yi understood it was ti for sleep. She also shut her eyes, feeling as though she had beco his wife simply by lying together like this, utterly content, unaware that sothing important still hadn’t happened.

That night, nothing occurred between them. They just slept in each other’s arms. The next morning, when Na Yi woke up, she was jubilant rather than upset over Li Yifei’s inaction, which gave him a great sense of relief.

After getting dressed, the two went downstairs where they saw Uncle Bunong washing up. Hearing the sound of their footsteps, he turned toward them with a smile.

Na Yi felt slightly shy but still held Li Yifei’s hand firmly, unwilling to let go.

"Good morning, Uncle Bunong," Li Yifei greeted him.

"Morning. I’m just finishing up; it’s your turn." Bunong said as he wiped his face with a towel. "I’ll start preparing breakfast—there’s sothing important I need to take care of later, so I’ll have to head out."

Li Yifei imdiately responded, "Uncle Bunong, can I go with you to take a look?"

"Hmm..." Bunong hesitated briefly before replying, "I’m afraid not. This is a unique gathering of our Miao people, and even among the clan mbers, not everyone can attend freely. Since you’re a Han, it’s impossible for you to participate."

Disappointed, Li Yifei said, "Then forget it; I won’t trouble you, Uncle Bunong."

"Alright. You should stay ho and spend more ti with Na Yi." Bunong nodded before adding, "By the way, teach her more Chinese. That way, you two can communicate more easily."

Li Yifei and Na Yi began washing up. Throughout, Na Yi stayed close to Li Yifei, her gaze never leaving him. Her affectionate deanor overwheld Li Yifei, making him feel both flustered and a little enchanted.

After breakfast, Bunong left. Initially, Li Yifei wanted to follow him to inquire if anyone in another village might know how to break a Life-bound Worm spell. But he eventually decided against it. As the clan chief of this village, Bunong might not have that knowledge, nor would villagers from other settlents necessarily know. Moreover, even if they did, such matters would undoubtedly be extrely confidential. Li Yifei knew he couldn’t gather any information by barging in recklessly.

Now that he knew the location of the villages, assigning people to investigate slowly seed a more strategic option than attempting anything brash himself.

Considering he’d already been away from ho for a while, Li Yifei began to worry about his family. He planned to return early, knowing that once Bunong ca back later today, he’d learn which village had sent soone out and who might be targeting him, giving him sufficient leads.

Thus, Li Yifei spent the day with Na Yi, teaching her a bit of Chinese while also learning so Miao language in return.

Li Yifei displayed an exceptional talent for languages—otherwise, he wouldn’t have mastered multiple foreign tongues during his years in the military. As they exchanged lessons, his progress clearly outshone Na Yi’s.

Nonetheless, Na Yi worked diligently, understanding that she’d soon leave the village with Li Yifei and would need to adapt to the world outside. Learning the language was essential for survival.

After several hours of effort, Na Yi hadn’t absorbed much, but they had at least reached a point where they didn’t need exaggerated gestures for every conversation. Simple communication had finally beco possible.

This filled Na Yi with imnse joy, making her flit around Li Yifei like an exuberant little bird, never straying from his side.

At around three in the afternoon, Bunong returned. Li Yifei imdiately approached him. "Uncle Bunong, is there any news?"

Bunong nodded, saying, "It’s people from the Dongmin Village who went out."

"Do you know why they left?" Li Yifei asked, deeply concerned.

"Those two haven’t returned yet. However, the Dongmin Village’s chief ntioned they fled on their own, so no one knows what they’re doing outside."

Li Yifei frowned slightly. If they escaped, then the trail was lost.

"Using Worm Techniques irresponsibly outside is incredibly dangerous. At the sa ti, searching for these two individuals isn’t convenient for us, nor do we have many people capable of leaving this region. Sending them to capture the rogue pair would be extrely difficult. Everyone has entrusted

to ask for your help—to capture the two of them as soon as possible, before their misuse of Worm Techniques brings harm to others and disaster upon our villages."

Li Yifei nodded resolutely. "Uncle Bunong, I promise to handle this and bring them in."

"Alright, I’ll leave it to you. Tomorrow, you should leave here. Na Yi..." Bunong turned his gaze to Na Yi and began speaking to her in Miao language.

Initially, Na Yi seed excited, but her expression soon grew sorrowful. She leaned against Bunong’s chest, her eyes red and tears streaming freely. It was clear she didn’t want to part from her father.

Later that evening, Na Yi spoke with Bunong for a long ti. Li Yifei didn’t interrupt their father-daughter ti, returning instead to Na Yi’s room to plan his next steps. It wasn’t until after ten o’clock when Na Yi ca back to her room, her eyes still red. Leaning against Li Yifei’s side, her tears began flowing again.

Soon, however, Na Yi’s crying stopped. A young girl in love always clings to her desired man; even if she feels deeply attached to her parents, she will still choose to follow the love of her life. Nestled against Li Yifei’s side, her tear-streaked face quickly blossod into a cheerful smile.

The next morning, Li Yifei and Na Yi departed from the village. Uncle Bunong escorted them a long way before finally stopping. Na Yi threw herself into Bunong’s arms, sobbing for a while until Bunong gently pushed her away and turned, striding back toward the village.

After Bunong’s figure disappeared from sight, Na Yi lunged into Li Yifei’s arms, sobbing softly. Li Yifei’s heart tightened—Na Yi, apart from him, had no one else to rely on now. Facing an unfamiliar world ahead was bound to be overwhelming for her. No matter what, Li Yifei understood he had both the responsibility and duty to look after her.

After consoling Na Yi for a while, she eventually stopped crying. She took one last, long look at the village, then grasped Li Yifei’s hand tightly and walked forward with him.

Though leaving the village saddened Na Yi, Li Yifei’s company quickly brightened her mood. She sang Miao songs for him as they walked, chirping like a buoyant little bird. Yet, as Li Yifei thought of the days ahead in the city, he couldn’t help worrying whether she’d still be able to maintain this happiness in a completely unfamiliar environnt, surrounded by hostility from his family. He wasn’t sure she could endure it.

At this thought, Li Yifei let out a bitter, silent laugh. Returning ho ant he couldn’t be intimate with his family, which would undoubtedly infuriate them. Initially, his family might handle things calmly, but over ti, resentnt toward Na Yi would likely grow. Even though the won in his family were cultured and virtuous, enduring their relationship being thrown into disorder might push them past their limits.

After walking all day, as evening fell, Li Yifei found a small clearing where they could set up camp for the night. Na Yi watched curiously as he pitched the tent. To her, this was an entirely novel experience.

Once the tent was set up, she eagerly dove inside, laughing heartily, bouncing several tis on the inflatable mat within.

As night descended, Li Yifei and Na Yi lay down in the tent to sleep. But under the cover of darkness, shadows erged one by one from the bamboo forest. Slowly, they approached the tent. Each figure was ard with military-grade assault rifles, dressed in camouflage, their faces painted. It appeared to be a special operations unit on a mission.

Disturbingly, one among them carried a rocket launcher on his shoulder. After leaving the bamboo forest, he set it up imdiately, aiming it directly at Li Yifei’s tent.
