This was indeed a bewildering scene.

Salvatore felt his mind go blank, unable even to determine whether he was in a nightmare at that mont.

Otherwise, how could the sight before him be so bizarre?

Hugo had just died in front of him, and even his ashes had been turned into a diamond ring by Salvatore himself.

He had endured the inexplicable sense of grievance when the elder passed away, resolved to bear Hugo’s sins, swore to follow Hugo’s path, and had even cried in front of Annan uncontrollably.

At last, it was only the remnants of Salvatore’s reason that told him... Annan should be the one he protected. As a man in his thirties, he should not let Annan, who was not yet half his age, worry.

Then, Salvatore finally beca strong.

It was in that instant that he realized he had finally grown up. Or rather, it was ti for him to grow up.

It was only then that he finally took on an "responsibility" that could not be ignored, could not be shirked, and from which he could not escape.

—And as he wiped away his tears and turned around, he discovered Hugo had co back to life.

"...Did you guys plan this?"

Salvatore, silent for a long ti, complained irately, "Is this to mock ? Did you want to see cry? What kind of prank is this... did you record it?"

"I really did record it."

Annan said earnestly.

"Just go die! You won’t get any of the things I prepared for you! Even if I sell them, I won’t give them to you!"

Salvatore knelt on the ground, hugging his head and roared with a pained expression, "I was really heartbroken just now! Don’t play with my feelings, I actually believed it and cried, you bastard!"

"—Ah? What stupid things are you talking about?"

The now human-like "Vatore" unceremoniously reached out and grabbed Salvatore’s right cheek, yanking it outward forcefully, "Isn’t it just your own stupidity? How can you bla others being smart when you have such a slow brain?

"Use your brain—you’re to beco the Tower Master, so stop complaining capriciously here! Given that I have beco like this, it ans that the ritual has indeed succeeded."

As the shadowy "Vatore", she had shed her shadowy shell, lost her demonic appearance, and adopted that of a young girl.

The biggest difference being, her hand had beco a human hand rather than a demon’s claw. Moreover, her body’s keratin had turned into smooth skin... though its hue was closer to a grayish-white, resembling a stone statue.

And her hair had beco like tentacles composed of shadows. This even made Annan think about the things under Kafney’s skirt...

Apart from a few traces of her demonic nature, she almost looked like a bare young girl. Her chest had only fat without protrusions, her smooth abdon also lacked a navel, and her ears contained only cochleae with no ear canals.

She seed more like a "statue mimicking human form", with a demonic allure.

Or perhaps, a bit like a Sin-Eater Spirit...

If it passes review, there should be a picture here.jpg

According to Annan’s aesthetic, Sister Vatore had clearly beco more attractive.

But obviously, Sister Vatore was not quite satisfied with her new form.

As she now appeared neither powerful nor domineering. Rather than "a demonic creature parasitic on Salvatore," she seed more like "so sort of summon of Salvatore"...

"The mont I first entered the door, I sensed it was a ritual site, yet you just stupidly stood there? Where did your vigilance go? If it’s safe inside Heath Tower of Black, then the teachings of the Spirit-Bearing Monks are useless? You’re not even a Tower Master, what makes you so confident? Huh?

"This ti teacher used the secret of Genesis for the ritual, what if it was ant to burn you? What do you have that could withstand that attack? Teacher didn’t even use any high-speed spell chants, just plainly finished reading and you didn’t even react, you’d deserve it if you got killed!

"You’re here complaining about Annan, can’t you see that teacher was resurrected by Annan? This clearly wasn’t in the original plan... still stunned there for what, aren’t you going to thank him, dummy?"

Sister Vatore rambled on and on with her complaints.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she beca, so she smacked Salvatore on the back of the head, producing a crisp sound akin to slapping a waterlon. Perhaps because it felt particularly satisfying, she couldn’t help but continuously smack him several more tis.

However, compared to the previous sense of demonic aggression and threat, this looked more like playful banter, utterly lacking in dignity...

So, the senior beca even angrier.

"Stop hitting , stop hitting ..."

Salvatore beca utterly aggrieved, "I was clearly tricked, why do I have to be hit..."

Looking at the pitiful Salvatore, hunched over with his head in his hands, Hugo sighed, "I didn’t intend to deceive you, I actually did die just now..."

"To be precise... I was dead, but not completely dead."

Annan added with a smile, "As I’ve told you before, I gained the ability to resurrect."

"...I underestimated you, Your Majesty Annan."

Hugo exhaled deeply, his expression complex as he closed his eyes, "I didn’t expect that even when my own soul was completely burnt away... you were still able to bring back."

"All of this was determined by destiny, Lord Hugo."

Annan’s smile slightly faded as he looked at Hugo, "Do you still rember whose nightmare it was that made advance?"

Hugo was taken aback.

He suddenly realized, "So that’s how it is..."

A long, long ti ago, the reason he had saved Bernadino from the pursuit of the Tower of Black Radiance... was because at that ti, Hugo felt his life shouldn’t just drift aimlessly.

He possessed exceptional talent and could beco an unmatched healer. Because of that experint, Bernadino had a gift no ordinary human could naturally possess—not soul perception, but the ability to directly see spiritual bodies through visual contact.

Just as Transforming Wizards cannot transform spiritual bodies.

Higher Transcendents could sense spiritual bodies of a lower rank than themselves... but even if it wasn’t a spiritual body there but a living person, they would also be able to sense them.

But Bernadino’s gift allowed him to directly see Gold-tier spiritual bodies even at the Bronze tier.

Although his body remained in the material world, he was essentially already part of the spiritual body.

This was sothing all Soul Reaping Wizards couldn’t achieve—they tried their utmost to approach this direction, but for Bernadino, this new ability that cost him his sight was always passively active.

As Isaac had said.

When the "White Robe Won" advanced to Gold tier, they too would gain the ability to resurrect.

Even without a body... in cases where the body had been crushed into mud or burned to ashes, they could still bring them back to life directly. Of course, this kind of resurrection still couldn’t repair the soul.

But as long as the White Robe Won were present on the field, establishing their domain, everyone’s souls at the ti of death would automatically enter into her domain and be stored by her.

She could freely resurrect anyone to a specified location by her side. She could also take away the deceased and wait until a safe place to revive them—not only could she resurrect allies, but she could also use this thod to capture enemies’ souls, countering the opponents’ resurrection thods.

Even so, the "rciful Mother" required a complete soul for resurrection.

The spells of the Idol School and Sculpting School had no effect on the soul; only the spells of the Soul Snatching School were effective on the soul. And if Bernadino beca a Gold-tier healer, his resurrection ability would affect the soul because of his special vision.

That was why Hugo initially saw potential in him.

...Although in the end, Bernadino didn’t follow that path and even fell into irredeemable sins.

But from his nightmare, Annan acquired the sa ability...

After a great roundabout, everything had co full circle.

Hugo felt a sense of ironic fate.
