"It’s Saturday! What class are you talking about?" Li Shanshan asked with a smile.
The real estate agency didn’t have weekends. Every day at noon, the company provided a staff al. Yi Anguo had arranged for Chuan Yu Restaurant to deliver them, with the cost deducted from the rent. Each person received a ten-yuan al box, and the total count was confird before delivery each day.
"Oh, right! It’s Saturday, so the stock market is closed!" Yi Anguo said, the realization dawning on him.
"What about your sister? Is she helping out at the restaurant? Business must be great today!"
Li Shanshan nodded. "Business is amazing; there isn’t a single empty seat. A lot of custors ca, saw it was full, and just left."
"My sister had sothing on today. She said her company arranged a team-building activity—a free trip. Brother-in-law, didn’t you know?"
"Your sister and I have broken up. And does your dad know you’re still calling brother-in-law?" Yi Anguo asked, a hint of displeasure in his voice.
Li Sisi went to a team-building event without even telling him, let alone inviting him to co along. He couldn’t help but feel a bit upset. These so-called team-building activities were just trips and dinners. Typically, anyone with a spouse would bring their partner and kids.
"Brother-in-law, you and my sister might be able to fool my parents, but you can’t fool ," Li Shanshan said, unconvinced. "In front of them, you two have broken up. But behind their backs, can you honestly say you’ve really split up?"
"Who told you your sister and I haven’t really broken up? How do you know?" Yi Anguo asked, puzzled.
"I’m not telling you. I just know you haven’t broken up with my sister. You two tead up to fool my parents," Li Shanshan said with a chuckle.
"Brother-in-law, don’t worry, I won’t tell my parents. But you have to do a favor! How about it?"
"Don’t! You should go tell your parents right now! I’m not afraid. My only concern is that they might not believe you," Yi Anguo said, refusing to yield.
So what if she knows? What could she do? It’s not like her parents could tie Li Sisi up every day. Besides, their restaurant was open now and doing great business. Let’s see if they’d be willing to shut it down and move back to Chuan Yu. Even if they made that drastic decision, Li Sisi probably wouldn’t obey them, give up her job in Shenzhen, and go back to Chuan Yu to get married.
"Brother-in-law! How can you be like this? I’ve been calling you brother-in-law for so long. Was it all for nothing? Can’t you just do one little favor?" Li Shanshan complained.
"If you ask for a favor because you call brother-in-law, that’s no problem. But blackmailing won’t work," Yi Anguo said while arranging the dishes. "I hate being blackmailed more than anything."
"Wow, there’s even chicken soup! This al is pretty lavish. How much is it?"
"It’s free! Do you think my dad is that stingy?" Li Shanshan explained on her father’s behalf. "Every ti you’re here, the al sent over for you is on the house. It’s not on the tab."
Yi Anguo was stunned. He genuinely had no idea.
"Brother-in-law, there’s this guy at my school who won’t stop pestering . Can you please help drive him away? He’s driving crazy. I can’t even focus in class," Li Shanshan pleaded, her tone softening.
Yi Anguo understood imdiately. Soone had taken a liking to Li Shanshan and was pursuing her relentlessly. Strictly speaking, Li Shanshan was even prettier than her sister, Li Sisi, mainly because her face was cuter and her smile was sweeter. No matter the place, beautiful won were always the most sought-after. They attracted hordes of suitors wherever they went, so it was perfectly normal for soone to be pursuing Li Shanshan.
"You’re so pretty. Isn’t it normal for male classmates to chase after you? You should be happy about it!" Yi Anguo said with a laugh after taking a bite of rice and a sip of the delicious chicken soup.
"But I don’t like him, and I have no intention of dating anyone at school," Li Shanshan said, pouting unhappily.
"If you don’t like him, just ignore him. It’s not like he can force you to be his girlfriend at school," Yi Anguo said.
"Ugh, you don’t get it! The guy is a lunatic. He loves flaunting his family’s money, always buying huge bouquets of roses or playing his guitar, singing and dancing, and shouting my na to create a big scene. He even bribes people to cheer him on, trying to pressure into becoming his girlfriend. It’s so embarrassing, and it’s affecting everyone in my dorm. Now they’re all annoyed with ."
"Don’t the teachers at your school do anything about it? That’s going too far. It’s seriously affecting the other students’ ability to study and rest," Yi Anguo said, surprised.
Li Shanshan shook her head. "How can the school intervene? He isn’t fighting or badmouthing anyone. He’s just courting , showing affection, and he hasn’t broken any school rules. The administration can’t forcibly get involved!
"Our university is supposed to be a place that champions freedom. They can’t exactly forbid college students from dating or making public declarations of love, can they?"
Yi Anguo replied while eating, "If your own teachers can’t handle it, how can I help? I’m not even a student there."
"Brother-in-law! Of course you can help!" Li Shanshan said cheerfully. "You can pretend to be my boyfriend and co to school with . Once everyone knows I have a boyfriend, he won’t have the nerve to keep pestering , right?"
"But I can’t go to school with you every day. You might fool him for a little while, but not forever," Yi Anguo said, shaking his head.
"Who said you have to go to school with every day? You just need to co once so he sees I have a boyfriend and gives up. Who made the rule that you have to be with your boyfriend every single day?" Li Shanshan retorted.
"That still won’t work. I’m eight or nine years older than you. It wouldn’t be convincing for to pretend to be your boyfriend. No one would believe it," Yi Anguo said, still trying to refuse.
"So what if you’re seven or eight years older?" Li Shanshan said with a laugh. "Who says I can’t have a boyfriend that much older than ? What if I told them I like you because you’re rich?"
"Maybe if everyone thinks I’m a gold digger, they’ll all leave alone. Wouldn’t that be even better?"
After a mont of thought, Yi Anguo said, "Alright. But I’m telling you, I’m only helping you this one ti. I can’t guarantee it will work, and I’m not getting involved beyond that. I’m a very busy man; I don’t have ti to deal with your problems every day."
After finishing his al, he sent Li Shanshan on her way. He didn’t give the matter much thought. It was probably just so rich college student, a second-generation heir spending his parents’ money to show off.
Yi Anguo called Wang Bing into his office and handed her the payroll sheet. "From now on," he instructed, "show this to everyone first. After they’ve all reviewed it, confird there are no issues, and signed off, then you bring it to for final approval. This will prevent the hassle of soone claiming their pay was miscalculated after the wages have already been distributed."
After a two-hour nap, Yi Anguo had just gotten up and washed his face when there was another knock at the door.
Yi Anguo opened the door and was surprised to see it was Li Sisi’s mother, Li Wanhua.
"Auntie! It’s you! Please, co in. What can I do for you?" Yi Anguo said, his face breaking into a warm, polite smile.
He should be calling her ’Mom,’ but now he could only call her ’Auntie.’
