Chapter 1621: Chapter 1622: The Key Item

“What do you an by that?”

Luo Changping fixed a piercing gaze on Su Chengyu, clearly paying close attention to his words.

Luo Changping had anticipated Su Chengyu’s arrival, but he hadn’t expected such a brazen visit to his own manor. What surprised him even more was that his daughter seed more eager to et Su Chengyu than he himself.

Of course, Luo Changping had noticed his daughter’s subtle movents lately. However, with Xu Nanzhi’s situation being incredibly urgent, he found himself in a state of neglect, putting other matters, including his daughter’s actions, aside.

After all, in his eyes, Luo Ling’er was still just a child.

No matter what moves a child might make at such a critical juncture, how significant could they be?

Su Chengyu blinked and asked, “What kind of person do you think Luo Ling’er is?”

Instead of answering directly, Su Chengyu posed a counter-question to Luo Changping.

Faced with the question, Luo Changping pondered for a mont before responding, “Average talent, but particularly intelligent. As a result, I’ve provided her little in the way of strict discipline over the years.”

“Indeed, quite clever. Otherwise, certain individuals wouldn’t have taken an interest in her.”

Su Chengyu’s remark imdiately caused Luo Changping to grow agitated. Unwilling to play along with the vagueness, he pressed further.

“What are you trying to say? Exactly what is Ling’er secretly planning right now? Surely it’s not…”

Seeing the fearful expression on Luo Changping’s face, Su Chengyu chuckled lightly. “Relax, it’s not as bad as you think. At least she hasn’t aligned herself with that demonic faction.”

The worst fear lodged in Luo Changping’s heart was swiftly denied, allowing him to finally settle back into his chair.

Through the ancient history of Xia Country, various factions had risen and fallen, with each taking its turn as the established orthodoxy. Only the Demonic Path had perpetually been excluded from legitimacy.

“So Ling’er has chosen to act as an informant for another ancient clan?”

“Elder Changping, you seem well aware of the current predicant facing the Luo Clan.”

Waving his hand dismissively, Luo Changping declined the complint without hesitation, drawing in a deep breath before replying.

“For years, the bloodline continuation of the Luo Clan has been ticulously concealed and even accelerated, yet Lady Saintess’s ergence at Kunwu Realm has already drawn public attention. It’s no surprise that other ancient clans have begun targeting us. Despite efforts to foster goodwill with them over the years, they still choose this mont to kick us while we’re down.”

“When the Luo Clan holds power, no one dares act against you. When the Luo Clan falls and submits, no one finds any joy in opposing you. But now, as the Luo Clan shows resurgence, how many would willingly witness that sight?”

“Which clan?”

Luo Changping asked Su Chengyu coldly, asuring him with a sharp gaze.

Su Chengyu blinked and responded, “Does Elder Changping even care about this? Aren’t you already a supporter of Nan Zhi, standing in opposition to the entire Luo Clan?”

“That’s different.”

Luo Changping declared resolutely, “If the Luo Clan ends up in Lady Saintess’s hands, it’s rely another ans of continuation. The Martial God Bloodline will not be lost. When Lady Saintess ascends to the Martial God Realm, she can imbue the Luo Clan with blessings and revive our lineage’s prominence.”

“And the so-called bloodline continuation thod?”

Su Chengyu furrowed his brow, questioning with evident confusion.

“rely the act of killing the goose to obtain the golden eggs — a harsh asure handed down by forebears in desperation. Yet among other ancient clans, it has turned into a widely accepted orthodoxy. After all, stepping into the Earth Immortal Realm is arduous, achieving the Martial God Realm nigh impossible. Even those born with innate Divine Soul and Divine Bone find ascending to One Realm heavily reliant on luck.”

“Nan Zhi’s talent isn’t poor, is it?”

Su Chengyu interjected sharply.

He had seen Xu Nanzhi in Kunwu Realm—in violet robes, no less. Although a portion of his mory had been erased, the cleansing and honing Xu Nanzhi underwent within the Luo Clan had undeniably unleashed her full potential. While perhaps outmatched by Lin An, who bore True Dragon fate convergence, Xu Nanzhi still stood head and shoulders above others.

If not in ten years, then within a few decades, Nan Zhi was bound to enter the Earth Immortal Realm.

“Certainly, which is one of the reasons I chose to follow Lady Saintess. But sadly, the Elder Council is unwilling to wait. After all, who can predict what the Luo Clan will look like in several decades? They lack the confidence to protect Lady Saintess during that ti. Moreover, the most pressing issue is…”

Mid-sentence, Luo Changping suddenly halted and turned his gaze toward Su Chengyu.

Baffled for a mont, Su Chengyu gave a bitter laugh. “Could even this ss possibly have sothing to do with ?”

Luo Changping nodded solemnly. “The stronger one’s power becos, the harder it is to control. Lady Saintess harbors deep affection for you, and your actions in the Capital City have sparked concern among us. Never mind several decades—within ten years, who can guarantee Lady Saintess would still willingly sacrifice herself for the Luo Clan to perpetuate its Martial God Bloodline?”

Su Chengyu chuckled icily, “But isn’t this entire predicant rooted in the flawed bloodline practices of your own Luo Clan? Had you not abandoned Nan Zhi to the mortal world back then, how would things have reached this point?”

Luo Changping fell silent, offering no rebuttal.

He hadn’t been the architect of these traditions; as one of the elders of the council, there existed rules passed down the generations that even he lacked the authority or ability to alter.

“Talking about this is pointless. No matter the circumstances, Nan Zhi hasn’t committed any wrongdoing — she was never ant to be the Luo Clan’s sacrificial offering.”

Understanding Luo Changping’s helpless position, Su Chengyu didn’t press the issue further. Instead, he shifted the topic.

“Indeed, Lady Saintess is innocent. With her talents and temperant, I truly believe the Luo Clan will thrive under her leadership.”

Su Chengyu raised his eyes and scrutinized Luo Changping. He asked in puzzlent, “Did Nan Zhi actually promise to beco a mber of the Luo Clan?”

Luo Changping nodded. “She did. Lady Saintess proclaid that if it were her, she would never let the Luo Clan degenerate into its current state.”

Su Chengyu blinked and pondered briefly, quickly discerning the burdens Xu Nanzhi had decided to shoulder. Sighing deeply, he couldn’t grasp why Xu Nanzhi would take upon herself such heavy responsibilities.

“Nan Zhi, she…”

“Rest assured, though Lady Saintess’s realm is unstable for now, the Elder Council is eager to have her ascend the Hollow Vacuum. However, they are lacking one crucial item. Without that item, Lady Saintess will not face any imdiate danger.”

“That item is buried in the Qingqiu Mausoleum, isn’t it?”

Realization dawning instantly, Su Chengyu posed the question back at Luo Changping.

Luo Changping nodded, “Since you know of that place, you must understand it’s the last trace of the Qingqiu Fox Clan. Legend has it that their final treasures are entombed deep underground there. And if the Green Hillock Empress didn’t actually take the Heavenly Fox Orb with her back then, then the Artifact’s resting place could only be within that tomb.”

Su Chengyu lightly tapped his fingers, then summoned the Heavenly Fox Orb from his Sea of Consciousness, allowing its luminous glow to materialize in his palm.

Seeing the orb radiating with a milky light, Luo Changping’s eyes widened in disbelief. He stared at Su Chengyu, stunned.

“How… How did this end up in your possession?!”
