Chapter 1609: Chapter 1610: Elder Council Incident

“That guy wasn’t wrong, you really are a madman.”

The Heaven-nding Stone said softly, then examined Su Chengyu’s injuries. After confirming there was no major issue, it stopped speaking further.

The Heaven-nding Stone was well aware of Su Chengyu’s current level of strength. With its assistance, as long as the opponent wasn’t at the Hollow Void Late Stage or a High Grade Martial Emperor, they could fight, and even defeat the other party.

Just as Su Chengyu had threatened earlier—if they continued to fight, the outco remained uncertain.

However, in this life-and-death gamble, Luo Zongyuan was unwilling to bet. As a gambler already at the table, to quit halfway naturally ant forfeiting all the chips invested so far.

Of course, Su Chengyu couldn’t be considered a complete winner either; not only had his identity been exposed, but his injuries had further worsened.

Luo Zongyuan likely hadn’t noticed this, but it didn’t change the fact that Su Chengyu would need to recuperate for so ti.

Within the waterfall, Su Chengyu, sitting cross-legged and adjusting his breath, had not fully entered ditation when an external presence suddenly alerted the Heaven-nding Stone, instantly putting them on guard. Simultaneously, Su Chengyu opened his eyes.

The Heaven-nding Stone and Su Chengyu sensed soone approaching the waterfall at almost the sa mont.

“Here to catch you?”

The Heaven-nding Stone asked in confusion.

Su Chengyu shook his head: “It doesn’t seem like it, just a few people with diocre strength.”

The strongest among those outside the waterfall was at the Pinnacle of the Nascent Soul Realm. Such experts were considered skilled within the Luo Clan, but Luo Zongyuan had already faced Su Chengyu personally and understood that figures at this level—whether cultivators or martial artists—were absolutely incapable of holding Su Chengyu down.

“Let’s wait and see, no rush.”

Su Chengyu spoke calmly, watching the waterfall’s entrance. Soon, a figure familiar to Su Chengyu was thrown into the waterfall—none other than Luo Nanping, whom Su Chengyu had previously spared.

“Brother Nanping?”

Su Chengyu feigned confusion as he looked at the disheveled Luo Nanping and spoke.

Luo Nanping scratched his head, gestured for the people who brought him to leave, and then walked straight into the waterfall unguardedly as he said,

“Brother Qichao, it seems I’ll be staying here with you for a while.”

“Hmm? Sothing happened outside again?”

Su Chengyu, fully aware of the situation, could only pretend ignorance for now.

Luo Nanping, lightly embellishing, recounted how his mansion had been attacked. Naturally, he glossed over the part about himself being captured, rely saying he, too, had co under surveillance.

“That person—ca for the Lady Saintess?”

Luo Nanping smirked in response: “Brother Nanping, you’re sharp-minded; nothing escapes you. Yes, that Su Chengyu fellow—he once was an old fla of Lady Saintess outside. Later, with good fortune, he managed to make a na for himself.”

Su Chengyu blinked and said, “I’ve heard of this fellow too. Allegedly, he already has the strength to oppose a Martial Emperor. Brother Nanping, are you dissatisfied with him?”

“Of course! He’s just lucky so princess took a liking to him. If I were the designated Prince Consort, forget Martial Emperor—even Earth Immortal wouldn’t be far off!”

“Oh, is that so?”

Su Chengyu chuckled inwardly with disdain. However, Luo Nanping’s words made him consider how the Luo Clan currently viewed him.

A lucky Prince Consort, huh?

Truly, the spectators see the spectacle; the insiders see the subtleties.

Those with insight in the Capital City all understood that his supposed status as Prince Consort was a perilous burden. Yet outside, even among the Ancient Clans, they believed he had profited greatly.

“If soone were to beco Lady Saintess’ beloved, wouldn’t they ascend effortlessly?”

“That’s different!”

Luo Nanping blurted out instinctively.

“How so?”

Su Chengyu smiled as he awaited further explanation.

“Princess Lin An is the Heavenly Son’s favorite, whereas Xu Nanzhi…”

Before the sentence was finished, Luo Nanping suddenly realized sothing. He gazed at Su Chengyu and began to grow nervous.

“Brother Nanping? What’s wrong?”

Su Chengyu smiled and blinked, yet the amiable expression only deepened Luo Nanping’s fear.

“You… you’re not Luo Qichao, who exactly are you?”

“Who said I’m not? Brother Nanping personally brought here; could it be that even now you don’t recognize ?”

“You’re…”

Luo Nanping froze montarily, then slowly stepped backward as he stared at Su Chengyu’s bizarre grin. Finally, realization struck him.

“You’re Luo Qichao. Luo Qichao is Su Chengyu…”

“Congratulations, you got it right.”

Instantly, Luo Nanping turned to dash out of the waterfall. However, as he turned, he found the Dragon Slayer Sword pressed against his brow.

Feeling the sword’s oppressive Sword Qi, Luo Nanping staggered and fell, sitting on the ground in terror as he spoke, “What do you want to do?”

“Why panic? Since I didn’t kill you the first ti, I won’t take your life now either.”

“But…”

“But what? Surely you don’t think I infiltrated the Luo Clan without understanding the unresolvable animosity between us, do you?”

Luo Nanping fell silent imdiately. The logic made sense, but facing soone he couldn’t possibly resist, his heart struggled not to leap into his throat.

“You truly won’t kill ?”

“Is there any point in killing you? Even Luo Zongyuan doesn’t care about your life. Whether you live or die truly makes no difference to .”

Having heard certain rumors beforehand, Luo Nanping froze montarily, then asked, “Father really doesn’t concern himself with my life or death?”

“If he cared, would I have wasted so much ti at your mansion?”

Luo Nanping lowered his head, lost in thought. Su Chengyu didn’t rush him, allowing the man to reflect alone.

Su Chengyu couldn’t manipulate Luo Zongyuan, but Luo Nanping—rely at the Golden Core Realm—was entirely within his control. Should the man attempt anything against his will, Su Chengyu could instantly strike him down.

After a long silence, Luo Nanping raised his head to look at Su Chengyu and asked, “You actively exposed your identity—what do you want to do?”

“Not as foolish as I thought.”

Su Chengyu smiled, slightly surprised by Luo Nanping’s realization.

“I need soone to help find out what’s happening with the Luo Clan right now.”

“The Luo Clan?”

Luo Nanping looked puzzled as he stared at Su Chengyu, unable to understand why he’d say such a thing.

Su Chengyu sighed and explained from the beginning: “Though I managed to outmaneuver your father, truth be told, he perford admirably, buying significant ti. Initially, I assud no one from the Elder Council had arrived due to the long journey. But when confirming the Elder Council’s location on my way back, I realized—it shouldn’t have taken this long for even one elder from the council to reach the Luo residence.”

“Sothing has happened at the Elder Council?”

Luo Nanping exclaid in shock.

Su Chengyu leaned forward and said, “That’s what I want to know from you. Why are you asking ?”
