Chapter 710: Chapter 304 Body Cutting_3 Chapter 710: Chapter 304 Body Cutting_3 Duan Hongye was a God-Level Expert with formidable defensive abilities, but the shockwave was even more indestructible. Yan Fei was convinced that once the shockwave was launched, it would definitely slice Duan Hongye into several pieces. However, Yan Fei had still underestimated the strength of a God-Level Expert. Just as the shockwave was immobilized due to charging, Duan Hongye, who had been buried underground, suddenly regained his ability to move.

The shockwave had initially locked on to Duan Hongye’s location, but the mont Duan Hongye moved, he surprisingly escaped the range of the shockwave’s attack. Just when Yan Fei inwardly lanted the missed opportunity, as if driven by so mysterious force, Duan Hongye returned to the range of the shockwave and dug upwards, ensuring he remained within the attack radius of the shockwave.

When Duan Hongye ascended to a point 10 ters below the surface and 8 ters from the Drone, the shockwave’s charging had just completed. Thus, the shockwave launched with the pre-set paraters. And just as the shockwave was launched, Duan Hongye sensed the danger in advance and shifted his body slightly, narrowly escaping being cleaved apart at the last mont.

Consequently, the Drone no longer had ti to execute another shockwave attack. It rapidly burrowed out of the ground, canceled the Subterranean Mode, reverted to its original state of a Drone, and floated up into the sky, continuing to hide among the clouds.

Duan Hongye, hidden underground, endured the pain as the muscles at his shoulder wound squird and quickly began to fuse together, halting the further outflow of blood. Fearing another encounter with the mysterious attack, he grabbed his severed right arm and continued to dig his way upward. No longer daring to climb directly upward, he ascended at an angle to avoid encountering the fearso wave attack again.

Several minutes later, Duan Hongye finally erged from the ground. He looked around and, not finding the mysterious weapon that had attacked him on the scene, his instincts still told him that the danger was very much present. Without hesitation, he grabbed his shoulder, ready to leave and find a secure location to reattach it, intending to seek trouble with Yan Fei after he regained his strength.

After observing through a distant monitor that Duan Hongye had retreated, Yan Fei breathed a sigh of relief. Duan Hongye was too formidable; every tactic Yan Fei employed had failed to kill him completely. However, fortunately, after sustaining serious injuries, Duan Hongye misjudged Yan Fei’s strength and chose to withdraw knowing the odds were against him.

In such a situation, Yan Fei’s next course of action should have been to imdiately pursue Duan Hongye, to seize the fantastic opportunity posed by Duan Hongye’s greatly reduced combat power and to eliminate him with the Drone’s powerful weapons once and for all, preventing any chance of revenge once Duan Hongye’s wounds healed.

But at the mont, Dream Island was facing an attack from Japan’s nuclear weapons, and Yan Fei needed to employ the Drone to deal with Dream Island’s greatest crisis, leaving no ti to pursue Duan Hongye. However, once Yan Fei dealt with Dream Island’s imdiate crisis, he would undoubtedly resu the hunt for Duan Hongye and completely eliminate this substantial threat.

In space, three dium-range ballistic missiles launched by Japan were traveling in a pin-shaped formation, about to re-enter the atmospheric layer.

When missiles were first developed, it was impossible to intercept incoming ones, but as people practiced and explored, they gradually found ways to intercept them and ca up with the concept of an Anti-Interception Missile System. This concept was first proposed by The United States of Arica, and typically, anti-missile interceptions have three phases.

The first phase is the Boost Phase, where interception is most effective because the ballistic missile has just launched and if shot down, would fall back onto enemy territory. But the biggest challenge is to detect and attack the missile imdiately after it ignites.

The second phase is the mid-course, which represents the most mature anti-missile system. The mid-course flight of ballistic missiles refers to the period when the missile’s engines shut down, and it flies inertially outside the atmosphere; the missile’s trajectory at this ti is relatively stable and fixed. If intercepted in ti, the wreckage would not enter the ho territory.

The mid-course is where the missile reaches its highest altitude and greatest speed, making interception highly challenging. Hence, the land-based mid-course missile defense system requires complex components and faces imnse technological challenges. Previously, only The United States of Arica, China, and Japan have conducted similar mid-course interception tests, but due to technical reasons, the success rates of interceptions weren’t high.

The third phase is the Terminal Phase, also known as the re-entry phase. During terminal phase interceptions, ballistic missiles re-enter the atmosphere and begin their descent. As the warheads have a steep trajectory and commonly travel at speeds over seven to eight tis the speed of sound, capturing them with anti-missile systems is exceedingly difficult.

Of the aforentioned three anti-missile stages, the most commonly used is the Boost Phase interception, as it is the easiest to intercept. This is also why The United States of Arica positions its anti-missile bases globally, situated as close to its enemies as possible, activating radars for round-the-clock surveillance over enemy territory. Once a missile is detected launching, it is imdiately intercepted, without giving it any chance to enter space.

The second most commonly used interception is terminal phase interception, which many countries are researching and have achieved certain interception success. However, such interceptions co with risks of failure, and even if successful, the remains of the incoming missile still fall within the borders of the country, presenting a new threat.

As for mid-course interception, it is the least used due to technical reasons.

This ti, Yan Fei planned to intercept nuclear missiles launched by Japan. Since he discovered them too late, he had missed the opportunity to intercept during the Boost Phase. As for terminal phase interception, Yan Fei dared not attempt it due to the risk of Japan’s nuclear weapons detonating prematurely, or the nuclear missile exploding upon interception.

Therefore, for safety’s sake, Yan Fei decided to undertake the most difficult mid-course interception, aiming to intercept the three nuclear missiles in space and prevent them from approaching the airspace of Dream Island. Even The United States of Arica, the most adept at missile interception globally, couldn’t guarantee the success of intercepting missiles in space. But with the Quantum Radar’s ability for long-distance real-ti scanning of the target, together with the Auxiliary Brain’s precise control over the missile’s flight trajectory, and the superior performance of the AGM-129 stealth cruise missile, Yan Fei gained confidence in intercepting Japan’s nuclear missiles in space.
