Chapter 413: Chapter 205: Papal Scepter_2 Chapter 413: Chapter 205: Papal Scepter_2 Upon discovering that the round bead was actually an ornant from the Papal Scepter, Yan Fei indeed felt shocked; however, as he realized he had a pressing need for it, he imdiately set a goal for himself: he must obtain that round bead. The reason was simple, his Drone needed an upgrade, and for the Drone upgrade, he would even dare to lay his hands on the Papal Scepter, an emblem of authority.
Nevertheless, after several bouts of outwitting his opponents, Yan Fei had beco even more cautious and prudent. Although he coveted the round bead on the Papal Scepter, he was extrely careful to calculate every step ticulously, ensuring that this operation would be flawless. Therefore, during the day, Yan Fei employed the Auxiliary Brain to continuously search the Internet for all information about the Holy See, attempting to uncover their power hidden beneath historical truths and devise counterasures. Only by understanding both himself and the enemy could he win every battle.
As he collected more data, Yan Fei’s shock grew. Before the European Renaissance, the Holy See’s influence had reached its zenith in Europe. At that ti, the Holy See had various powerful institutions; their strength was formidable, possessing the authority to arbitrarily execute rulers of nations, superior to any country’s law. Moreover, all rulers were required to be crowned by the Holy See—without this process, their rule was deed illegitimate, and the people had the right to overthrow them.
If the Holy See’s administrative institutions from that era had persisted to the present, their power would be imnse, certainly surpassing all the forces Yan Fei had encountered before. Facing a behemoth of this caliber, Yan Fei did not hold absolute confidence. However, he had to procure the Papal Scepter regardless of the difficulties; anything that stood in the way of this goal was his enemy and would be eliminated by him.
When it was ti to leave work that afternoon, Yan Fei manipulated his body to make himself appear pale and unwell. Doing so successfully drew Lu Pingping’s attention, and then he feigned exhaustion to take a few days off, claiming he needed to rest at ho. When night fell, Yan Fei covertly left Dream Tower, disguised, to reach the outskirts of Shanghai where he boarded the Drone who had co to et him.
After collecting Yan Fei, the Drone dived again, distancing itself from the Shanghai territorial waters. In the high seas, the Drone quietly surfaced and ascended into the air, flying at a very low altitude over the sea towards the direction of the South China Sea.
This mission to snatch the Papal Scepter from the Vatican was impossible to achieve with the Drone alone. Since it required Yan Fei himself to take action, he had to travel to Italy, coordinating with the military support from the Drone to ensure the success of the operation.
Navigating through the safe routes established by previous missions, the Drone rapidly advanced towards the South China Sea. After reaching the South China Sea, it turned right into the Gulf of Thailand, crossed the narrowest part of the Kra Isthmus of the Malay Peninsula, and entered the Indian Ocean. It then passed Sri Lanka, entered the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and finally reached the waters of the Red Sea.
The Drone swiftly flew and then dived again, concealing itself below the sea surface at the entrance of the Suez Canal. As soon as a massive oil tanker appeared, the Drone imdiately followed it, hiding underneath the vessel to slip into the Suez Canal. Once inside the canal, the Drone quickly left the oil tanker behind, racing along the canal’s bottom until it reached the exit. There, the Drone employed the sa technique, attaching to the bottom of another luxurious cruise ship to exit the Suez Canal and enter the diterranean Sea.
Upon arriving in the diterranean, the Drone had almost depleted its Energy Points. Thus, it dived to conceal itself in an ocean trench of the diterranean, quietly waiting for the ti of the Drone data refresh to arrive. Promptly, at midnight local ti, the Drone’s data rapidly refreshed, restoring its peak Combat power. It continued its journey, surfacing and ascending into the sky to hasten towards the Apennine Peninsula.
The drone swiftly flew in a northwest direction over the diterranean Sea, passing Crete, Malta, and finally cutting across Sicily to enter the Tyrrhenian Sea, arriving at the western coast of Italy. After nearing the Italian coastline, the drone descended once more, subrged to the seafloor following the terrain map in the Auxiliary Brain’s database, heading stealthily toward the waters near Ro. It wasn’t until just past three in the local ti that the drone finally reached the waters off the coast of Ro, less than one hundred kiloters in a straight line from the city area of Ro.
With that, the long journey spanning three continents finally ca to an end. For this long trip, the drone even needed to undergo a data refresh. However, the process went well, with the drone traveling safely and unevently, reaching its destination as planned.
The drone had now reached the waters near Ro, but since it was just past three in the morning, and pitch black outside, Yan Fei did not choose to log into Italy at this ti. Instead, he let the drone hide in an ocean trench beneath the sea surface, quietly waiting for morning to co.
Yan Fei sat in the drone cockpit, and although he had been through a long journey, he was fully alert and not the least bit sleepy, slowly becoming sowhat bored with the wait. So, he activated the quantum radar, picked up free WIFI from the shoreline, connected to it, and entered the World Network.
The first place Yan Fei logged into was the Dark Web of the underworld. He then discovered that the task he had submitted to destroy the system had been confird by the Dark Web authorities. Not only did his secret account receive 95% of the promised bounty for the operation, but the notice of Destroyer’s completed mission also appeared in the Dark Web’s task completion records, highlighted and pinned to the top, visible to anyone who logged into the Dark Web.
Although the bounty for the mission was not high, the difficulty of completing it was imnse, so the Dark Web fully publicized the mission’s completion using the standards for highly challenging tasks. In a short ti, everyone knew that the Destroyer had taken down South Korea’s system. Those who had been paranoid by the real-world network finally had confirmation on the Dark Web that South Korea’s system had indeed been destroyed.
Having completed such a formidable mission, Destroyer’s fa soared in the underworld, becoming increasingly influential. Those looking to offer high-difficulty tasks started to think of Destroyer first. These subtle shifts finally t so of the goals Yan Fei had in mind.
In the real-world network, the United States and South Korea were still arguing over the video Yan Fei had uploaded. Whether it was those who doubted the video or those who confird its authenticity, neither side could convince the other of their beliefs. Both the South Korean and the United States military were deeply troubled by the video but hesitated to explain it too much, for fear of exposing the truth.
The online disputes between the two countries had just settled down when everyone finally believed that the video in question was rely a movie clip, although the promotion for this film had been so intense that it sparked a widespread debate. Then everyone beca very curious because the movie seed so realistic and the plot so thrilling; they wondered what its na was? When would it be released? However, they would never get to know the release date of the movie, to the disappointnt of those who had followed it. So even tried to investigate the matter later on but never ca up with any results.
