She pressed a button on the laptop on the table and discovered that it had been on all along. When the computer screen lit up, she saw a program running on it. She clicked on it and found that it was a program controlling a surveillance cara. Moreover, she saw herself and Zhuge Liuyun standing in front of the cara’s captured image.
Upon seeing the footage captured by the computer’s cara, Zhuge Liuyun was overjoyed and said, “Yan Fei can’t escape now, he must be the Destroyer. Otherwise, why wouldn’t he be in his own room and why the sneaky act of opening a surveillance cara to monitor his own room?”
A grave expression appeared on Xiaolan’s face. She pushed open the partly-closed balcony door, stepped out, and scanned the surroundings for anything unusual, but found nothing amiss. She looked up at the sky and noticed that the downpour had completely stopped and that it was drizzling lightly, the violent wind now just a gentle breeze. The streets of Paris outside were pitch-black, with no one walking around.
Suddenly, a thought struck Xiaolan, and she turned back, thinking she saw a silhouette in the drizzle, but upon closer inspection, she realized there was no silhouette at all.
Finding nothing out of the ordinary on the balcony, Xiaolan returned indoors with confusion in her heart, pondered for a mont, and asked, “Liuyun, which room is Lu Pingping’s?”
Zhuge Liuyun took out a piece of paper with pen ink listing Dream Technology personnel’s room arrangents. After looking at it, he said, “Lu Pingping’s room is 8159, Yan Fei’s room is 8157, her room is right next to ours.”
Xiaolan said, “Let’s go and check Lu Pingping’s room.”
Zhuge Liuyun asked in confusion, “Why should we check on Lu Pingping, are you planning to catch up with her?”
Xiaolan replied, “Even though Yan Fei isn’t in his own room, it doesn’t an he isn’t in this hotel. I suspect he’s currently in Lu Pingping’s room right next door.”
Zhuge Liuyun stroked his chin and said, “You might be right. Back in university, Yan Fei and Lu Pingping were a couple and seed very close. It’s quite possible he’s staying in Lu Pingping’s room.”
So the two quickly reset Yan Fei’s room back to the way it was before leaving and closing the door. They then began to knock on the door of room 8159, right next to Yan Fei’s. Xiaolan had only knocked a few tis when a voice from inside asked, “Who is it?”
Xiaolan and Zhuge Liuyun exchanged glances, and Gu Xiaolan imdiately responded in French, “Dear guest, good evening! We are from the Ritz Hotel’s Room Service Departnt. There was a storm tonight, and so guests reported leaks in their rooms. To better serve you, we need to check your room.”
After Xiaolan finished speaking, they heard rustling noises from inside the room, then the door opened to reveal Lu Pingping in a bathrobe at the doorway.
Xiaolan took a step forward, discreetly blocked the door with her foot, and then expressed surprised delight, saying, “Oh my, is that you, Lu Pingping? We haven’t seen you in such a long ti.”
Lu Pingping was startled and said, “You are… you’re Gu Xiaolan…”
Gu Xiaolan smiled and said, “Yes, I am Gu Xiaolan. Lu Pingping, it’s so good to see that you rember .”
Instead of stepping aside, Lu Pingping looked confused and asked, “Xiaolan, are you a worker at the Ritz Hotel’s Room Service Departnt?”
A saddened look ca over Gu Xiaolan’s face as she replied, “Pingping, see the person behind ? That’s Zhuge Liuyun, my boyfriend. We’ve been having a tough ti back ho, so we ca to France to look for opportunities, but we haven’t found any good jobs and ended up working as hotel staff here at the Ritz.”
Only then did Lu Pingping notice Zhuge Liuyun standing behind Gu Xiaolan. Zhuge Liuyun then put on an embarrassed expression and said, “Lu Pingping, it’s such a pleasure to et you. However, we must do our jobs well. We need to check your room to make sure there’s no leaking.”
Relaxing a bit at the sight of her old university friend whom she had not seen for a long ti, Lu Pingping said, “All right, co in and take a look!”
The two followed Lu Pingping into the room, only to discover that the room was sowhat sparse and only Lu Pingping was present. Zhuge Liuyun’s face showed a triumphant smirk, and suddenly Gu Xiaolan, pointing at the bathroom, said, “Pingping, is there soone in the bathroom?”
It was then that Zhuge Liuyun heard the faint sound of trickling water coming from the bathroom, clearly indicating that soone was showering inside.
Lu Pingping’s face flushed red as she said, “There’s soone… in there… ”
Gu Xiaolan smiled and said, “May I take a look in the bathroom?”
Lu Pingping imdiately blocked the bathroom door and said loudly, “No, you can’t go in there.”
Just then, the sound of water stopped, indicating that the person inside had finished showering. Then the bathroom door opened, and a person ca out.
Lu Pingping quickly stepped forward and affectionately took the person’s hand, saying, “Fei, why didn’t you shower a bit longer? Did they disturb you?”
The person who erged from the bathroom was indeed Yan Fei. His hair was wet, and he was wrapped in a large bath towel, clearly just out of the shower. He patted Lu Pingping’s hand on his, seeming sowhat displeased, and said, “Pingping, why are you letting people into our room so late?”
