Chapter 324: Chapter 173: Reverse Mission Impossible
Yan Fei restored a three-dinsional terrain map of the Louvre Museum using the Auxiliary Brain, knowing which direction he should head in general. However, the door before him did not exist on the map he restored, and he had not anticipated the two surveillance caras above it, nor the fact that soone inside was monitoring the area outside the door. Neither the data records nor intelligence reports had ever ntioned a door in this secret passage leading into the museum.
Yan Fei wasn’t surprised by the appearance of a door here, since the information he had obtained from the Internet was sowhat outdated. It had been a long ti, after all, and changes, such as an additional door, would be completely normal.
Before setting off, Yan Fei had crafted a battle plan specifically for tonight’s operation, which included simulations for various unexpected events and the corresponding contingency asures. One of the scenarios included encountering a blocked door en route.
In the plan, if Yan Fei encountered an obstructive door, he would try to open it; if it couldn’t be opened, he would use explosives from the Universal Space to blast it open and forcibly break into the Louvre. However, doing so would prematurely reveal his whereabouts, hindering his operation, and not conducive to finding the Rusty Disk.
If he had to face this extre situation, Yan Fei’s strategy was to disregard everything, head straight to the managent departnt of the Louvre, hold the workers hostage, and extract the location of the Rusty Disk from them. Then, he would launch drone-mounted missiles to break into the room where the target was located, seize the target by force, and escape before the various forces could react.
It was because he had prepared for various contingencies that Yan Fei didn’t panic when faced with difficulty. Just as he was about to use smoke grenades from the Universal Space to nullify the surveillance caras near the door, and test whether he could open it, faint footsteps echoed from another corridor. Yan Fei quickly stepped back, hiding himself in an adjacent passage and observing the situation from the dark.
As the footsteps drew closer, Yan Fei saw three people clad in black bodysuits approaching from a corridor on the side. They moved cautiously, trying to stay undetected. While walking, they were checking a navigation system in their hands, confirming their position. Then, they stood before the passageway Yan Fei aid to enter the Louvre, hiding themselves around the corner to avoid being captured by the surveillance caras, and began to quietly discuss.
Yan Fei imdiately concentrated and eavesdropped on their conversation. Fortunately, the three were speaking English, which Yan Fei could understand with his linguistic skills.
A seemingly honest middle-aged Caucasian man in a black outfit said, “God bless, lucky that tonight’s storm has caused such chaos outside, the guard personnel’s lines of defense are flawed. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been easy to get in.”
A small-statured, pretty Caucasian woman said, “Boss Sean, don’t get too excited just yet. Although we’ve made it into the subterranean palace of the Louvre, there are still many traps inside. We need to be especially careful to successfully complete the task.”
The middle-aged man called Boss Sean chuckled, “Little Fish, you are always so cautious. But rest assured! We’ve prepared for this operation for so long, accounted for all sorts of scenarios, even the most extre ones. So this operation is bound to succeed – just wait for your cut of the money!”
Hidden in the dark, Yan Fei’s heart skipped a beat. From their conversation, he gathered they were not Louvre workers but also unlawfully infiltrated the museum. Could it be that their goal was also to seize the Rusty Disk? Was he facing his competitors? Otherwise, why would they appear here at this critical mont…
Another voice, raspy with age, spoke up, “Sean, I’m not worried about whether we can pull off this heist. My concern is sothing else. Do you think the ‘Mona Lisa’ on display in the Louvre is authentic? We’re not art experts. What if, after all our trouble to steal the painting, the employer tells us it’s a fake and refuses to pay? What then?”
Boss Sean responded fiercely, “The Blue Fox Thieves Group is not to be trifed with. We’ve co here to steal the painting based on our employer’s intelligence and requirents, so whether we steal an original or a replica, he must pay us. If not, I will not let him off easily. I will make sure he understands how terrifying an angry Sean can be.”
At this revelation, Yan Fei understood that although these three people in black were in the sa line of work, they did not aim for the Rusty Disk but aid for the ‘Mona Lisa’, one of the three treasures of the Louvre. They were fellow thieves but not his competitors or his enemies.
The woman called Little Fish said, “Boss, this is not the ti for that discussion. Let’s focus on stealing the item first. The rare extre weather tonight has caused a breach in the guard personnel’s defense outside, allowing us to get in here. If we dawdle and the weather outside improves, we might not be able to leave.”
