Chapter 241: Chapter 137: Strictly Guarded
Yan Fei was surprised to see Chinese people here. At first, he thought the two Chinese were hostages captured by militants, but upon closer inspection, he realized their hands and feet were free and not bound. Moreover, the militants’ attitude towards them was quite polite, as if they had no intention of mistreating them apart from preventing them from seeing the outside.
Upon closer examination, Yan Fei felt sothing was off because he recognized one of the Chinese people. Although the man’s eyes were covered with a black cloth, Yan Fei could make out his facial features. It was Yang Wanlin, who had visited Dream Technology and had dealings with Yan Fei. Later on, Yan Fei learned from Lu Pingping that this Yang Wanlin was actually from the Yang Family of Beijing, the younger brother of Yang Liu and the uncle of Yang Song.
But why was Yang Wanlin here in a place suspected to be the headquarters of the Assassin Sect? What did the presence of soone from the Yang Family here indicate? Moreover, Yang Wanlin wasn’t a hostage; could it be that he was a guest invited by the Assassin Sect? Were they also aiming for that mountain up ahead?
The other Chinese person following Yang Wanlin was a sturdy middle-aged man who was carrying a black bag on his back, which seed to contain sothing resembling a stick. Although Yan Fei couldn’t see the man’s eyes, he felt an incredibly strong aura emanating from him, an aura that even made Yan Fei inwardly shiver. What was the relationship between this man and Yang Wanlin? Could it be that he was Yang Wanlin’s bodyguard?
As soon as Yan Fei spotted Yang Wanlin below, nurous thoughts flashed through his mind, and he felt that the situation was sowhat intricate and perhaps not as simple as he had imagined.
The vehicles below started to change a tire while the ard militants chose to rest on the nearby stones, with so starting to smoke and chat among themselves. Yang Wanlin and the sturdy middle-aged man also sat on stones to rest but remained silent. One of the militants, who seed to have an urgent need, said sothing to his companions and then went to squat behind a distant rock to defecate.
...
Seeing this scene, Yan Fei imdiately devised a plan. He quickly exited the Drone Cockpit and began to jump down, pushing off any rocks that blocked his way with an agility that even surpassed that of a climbing monkey. In less than ten seconds, Yan Fei had leaped from high above to the yellow sand below. He was very careful not to make a sound and went unnoticed by everyone else.
Yan Fei covered his nose and mouth and suddenly appeared behind the defecating militant. He grabbed the man’s neck and twisted it with force, breaking it. The defecating militant could never have imagined being assaulted while in such a compromising situation and died without a chance to resist.
Enduring the stench of feces, Yan Fei began to strip the clothes off the militant. During the earlier struggle, so feces had sared on the militant’s clothing, making it unpleasant slling. Yan Fei suppressed the feeling of nausea and put on the slly clothes, then wrapped the militant’s headscarf around his own face. Next, he repeatedly flexed his body, activating his muscles, organs, and bones to change his physique until he matched the unfortunate victim. Just like that, without any noise, Yan Fei had transford into one of the militants below.
Yan Fei had intended to store the unlucky man’s body in the Universal Space but decided against it, considering the man hadn’t cleaned himself after defecating. Instead, he simply hid the body behind so rocks and covered it with yellow sand. After finishing, Yan Fei shouldered the AK Rifle from the ground and slowly walked back, blending into the resting crowd.
The others noticed the foul sll coming from Yan Fei and distanced themselves, effectively isolating him. This actually made it easier for Yan Fei to infiltrate the group without being discovered. Among them, only the sturdy middle-aged man whose eyes were covered sensed sothing was amiss. However, because he was blindfolded and unaware of the exact situation outside, he just gave Yan Fei’s direction a few extra glances before turning away and remaining still.
As soon as the transportation vehicle’s new tire was installed, it was ready to move again. The lead small-ti leader gave a shout and everyone quickly dropped their cigarettes and climbed aboard the vehicle. So still kept their distance from Yan Fei’s unpleasant sll and chose not to speak to him, which kept Yan Fei’s disguise from being found out.
The vehicles continued their journey and really did arrive at the cave at the base of the mountain ahead. The vehicle didn’t stop but directly entered through the largest cave entrance. Through the gaps in the canvas cover of the truck, Yan Fei could see there were two surveillance caras at the entrance of the cave and two more hidden openings resembling machine gun bunkers. The caras even shifted as they entered the cave, which made him inwardly alard. If he hadn’t blended into this group, he might have been spotted as soon as he entered the cave and would have been attacked by those bunker-mounted guns. Although he wasn’t afraid of these attacks, it would surely have alerted the enemies inside the cave. If they discovered the terror that was Yan Fei, they would likely choose to scatter and flee, making it impossible for him to complete his task of annihilating the organization.
The cave was not only spacious but also long. With twists and turns inside, the vehicle drove nearly seven to eight hundred ters within before finally stopping in a huge cavern. This cavern was very large, akin to a mall’s parking lot, and housed many other vehicles, including not just transport trucks but also armored vehicles.
The large cavern was not only linked to the main passage through which Yan Fei and his group had entered, but it was also connected to many other corridors of various sizes. Yan Fei imdiately understood that these passages must lead to the entrances of the various caves outside. There were many routes to enter this large cavern, not just the one they had driven through, which explained why the escaping Assassin Sect Envoy had chosen to co in through another cave.
After entering the cavern, the transportation vehicle stopped, and the masked leader shouted. Everyone stood up, carrying weapons to jump out of the car, with Yang Wanlin and the stocky middle-aged man being assisted out of the vehicle by the other masked militants.
Yan Fei had previously learned three foreign languages through Knowledge Infusion, but unfortunately, Arabic was not included. By common sense, he wouldn’t understand what the masked leader was saying; however, he was connected to the Drone outside and could invoke the translation technology within the Auxiliary Brain at any ti. With the instant translation provided by the Auxiliary Brain, Yan Fei understood what the other party had said right away.
Of course, since this translation content required a transfer through the Auxiliary Brain, the response ti would be a bit longer, and he would reveal flaws during interactions with others. Fortunately, these masked militants seldom spoke to each other, avoiding much communication, and thus no one noticed anything abnormal about Yan Fei, the impostor.
As Yan Fei and the other masked figures jumped out of the vehicle, he found himself standing in a large square with a tal gate ahead. There were several surveillance caras in front of the tal gate, and next to it were two bunkers, each with heavy machine guns peering out of the windows. As they disembarked, the machine guns in the bunkers started to turn, aiming at them.
The masked leader removed the cloth covering his face and revealed himself to be a dark-skinned Arab man. He pressed on an area of the tal gate, and imdiately a device extended from the gate. The leader leaned his face close to the device, and a red laser beam scanned his facial features and iris from top to bottom. Then the leader placed the palm of his right hand on another device, successfully obtaining his fingerprint. After the leader’s physical data had been collected, the device retracted into the tal gate.
Finally, the leader said, “Open sesa!”
Upon detecting the leader’s voice, the lock of the tal gate completely verified his identity. They heard a “click” sound, and the tal gate actually opened.
Watching the entire identity verification process, Yan Fei broke out in a cold sweat. He had just been thinking about how to break into this cave, not realizing it was so heavily guarded inside. Had he actually forced his way in, he may have been discovered before he even reached this tal gate. And even if he had managed to break inside after much difficulty, the people behind this gate would have probably already fled. Besides, the tal gate was imnsely sturdy, and he might not have had the strength to break through it.
Yan Fei had been naive earlier, hoping to release the nerve agent “Novichok” outside the cave and use its spreading to kill those inside. But once he entered the cave, he realized he was sorely mistaken. The wind in the cave was blowing from the inside out. Thus, even if he released the nerve agent at the cave’s entrance, the gas wouldn’t enter the cave and would pose no threat to the people inside. The only way to annihilate everyone inside would be to locate the cave’s air intake and release the gas there.
The leader covered his face with a headscarf once again, assuming his previous masked appearance, and then led the way into the tal gate. Following his lead, the other masked individuals, including Yang Wanlin and the stocky middle-aged man, went through the tal gate, with Yan Fei hurriedly following. Upon entering, Yan Fei discovered a straight, wide road inside, with several electric cars parked alongside. And behind the tal gate stood more than a dozen fully ard black-robed warriors brandishing weapons, cautiously scanning the square outside while keeping an eye on the recently entered masked group.
The leading masked figure spoke a few words to the black-robed warriors and then entered a nearby sealed room to make a call. When he ca out, the black-robed warrior gestured, and one of the parked electric cars drove over. Once Yan Fei and the others boarded the electric car, it started up imdiately and began driving deeper along the corridor.
