Chapter 207: Chapter 122: Horror at High Altitude
In the Drone Quantum Radar display, a seaplane in the distance was flying eastward. Although it had taken off for a while, its top speed was less than 800 kiloters per hour. With the Drone Avatar’s speed reaching an impressive Mach 3, it quickly caught up to the aircraft.
The seaplane was a dium-sized aircraft capable of carrying about 30 passengers. Moreover, it was a civilian model with an old-fashioned design, lacking military radar installations. It was the dead of night, pitch black outside, and the seaplane had no inkling of the drone’s stealthy approach.
The drone flew silently a hundred ters above the seaplane, then used its Quantum Radar to survey the aircraft below. The Quantum Radar had an infinite number of applications. While it couldn’t penetrate the thick hull of a submarine, it could easily see through the flimsy structure of the seaplane and revealed the exact situation inside.
There were a total of three individuals on the seaplane. One was piloting the aircraft from the cockpit, while there were two in the cabin. One of those in the cabin was slumped in a seat, motionless, likely the unconscious Lu Pingping judging by the build. The final person was seated next to Lu Pingping, guarding her. From the slender fra, it was probably the woman in black.
When Yan Fei spotted Lu Pingping on the seaplane, he breathed a sigh of relief. Finding Lu Pingping here proved that he hadn’t fallen for the enemy’s decoy tactic. Seeing Lu Pingping also ant that he had a way to rescue her.
Even though Yan Fei had located Lu Pingping, he didn’t imdiately spring into action. They were at altitude, which posed much greater risks than on land. Any improper maneuver could lead to a fatal mistake. So he had to be extrely cautious, first ensuring Lu Pingping’s safety before figuring out how to eliminate the two assailants.
The seaplane swiftly gained altitude, and the drone quietly shadowed it from above. Before long, the seaplane reached an altitude of ten thousand ters, with the Drone Avatar following suit. This was Yan Fei’s first foray to such heights since obtaining the drone. To avoid detection by various radars and satellites, its previous operations involved either subsea voyages or low-altitude skimming over sea surfaces, never fully utilizing its high-altitude flight capabilities. He only knew from the data that he could ascend to thirty thousand ters, but he had never attempted it in reality. Now, located in the remote regions of the North Pacific Ocean Area, far from land and the military bases of US and Japanese Forces, with no warships patrolling nearby, and with the cover of deep night, there was no fear of satellites, so the drone could soar to its heart’s content.
Without any worries, the Drone Avatar flew to an altitude of ten thousand ters for the first ti, feeling extraordinarily unburdened—it was as natural as eating or walking. At ten thousand ters, the air was thin and frigid. Yan Fei used to be concerned that inhabiting the Drone Avatar at this altitude might cause discomfort. However, experiencing it firsthand, he imdiately found that neither the thin air nor extre cold negatively affected the drone. It felt just as it did during low-altitude flight as if neither had any impact on the drone at all.
Having climbed to ten thousand ters, the seaplane was now very far from the cargo ship on the sea surface. It was only at this point that the final two mbers of the Assassin Sect breathed a sigh of relief. The pilot in the cockpit began setting up the seaplane’s automatic piloting system, and the woman in black who had been guarding Lu Pingping left her seat and walked toward the drink cabinet at the front to get a beverage.
The intense pressure of Yan Fei’s recent pursuit on the cargo ship was imnse for the two of them. They were forced to flee the ship to ensure the hostage’s safety and complete the task assigned by the sect. To achieve this ultimate goal, they didn’t hesitate to sacrifice all their comrades. Thankfully, with their desperate comrades holding off the terrifying Ghost-faced One on the cargo ship, they had managed to escape. Now aboard the aircraft, being tens of kiloters away from the Ghost-faced One and at an altitude of ten thousand ters, they no longer feared pursuit. Unless there was a second seaplane on the cargo ship, which clearly wasn’t the case since they had taken the only one, the Ghost-faced One surely couldn’t catch up. At this mont, they finally relaxed, and imdiately sought to replenish the water they had lost due to the stress.
Yan Fei had been observing everything transpiring within the seaplane from above, and when he saw the woman in black leaving Lu Pingping’s side, he instantly realized his chance had finally co. With just a thought, Yan Fei watched the drone flip belly up, cockpit facing down, maintaining the sa speed as the seaplane, then the cockpit opened from below, and Yan Fei in the cockpit dropped toward the sea from high in the sky.
At ten thousand ters, not only was the air thin, but the temperature was also a frigid minus forty degrees Celsius. As soon as Yan Fei leaped from the cockpit, his breath beca labored, and the temperature around him plumted rapidly, almost freezing his body stiff. A powerful gale hit him head-on, blowing him far away.
Fortunately, Yan Fei’s strength had surged, granting him the ability to withstand extre cold, so the temperature and air changes had minimal impact on his actions. The only thing that troubled him was the raging wind at this altitude. But now, with his strength reaching the level of Innate Realm, he could perfectly control his body even in free fall. He quickly adapted to the direction of the wind, used its flow to perform several sorsaults, and swiftly landed on the top of the seaplane with a “thud.”
