Yan Fei took out a ghastly plastic mask from Universal Space and put it on his head. Then he observed the flickering red lights of the surveillance caras around him, carefully avoiding the caras’ shooting range while searching around the cargo ship. This ship seed to have a capacity of around fifty thousand tons, making it a large cargo ship, and it was completely filled with shipping containers. The containers were all labeled in English, and it was unclear which country they had sailed from. But considering that the ship was heading east, it was very likely that its destination was the United States of Arica.
The top of the cargo ship was stacked with containers, and below were various ship cabins, of which there were many. Yan Fei, growing impatient after only checking a few of them, knew that at this pace, it would take until the next morning to search all the cabins on the ship. The Assassin Sect’s final paynt deadline was tonight at nine o’clock sharp. If he failed to find Lu Pingping before the deadline, it would be too late.
So Yan Fei stopped hiding himself. Following the sound, he found the ship cabin where the crew were watching satellite TV. Inside, he saw two bored crew mbers chatting idly and watching a television program. With one strong move, Yan Fei tore the cabin door open and knocked them out before they could react. As ordinary people, they were no match for Yan Fei, and they fainted without understanding what had happened. Yan Fei then checked the room, making sure there was no surveillance equipnt, before he picked up one of the crew mbers, took him to the next room, and woke him up.
As soon as the crew mber regained consciousness, he saw soone in a ghastly mask standing before him, and he began to scream in terror, his cries mixed with pleas for rcy. Hearing the crew mber speak in the Southern Min Dialect of China, Yan Fei altered his voice and spoke in the sa dialect, saying, “If you keep making noise, I’ll kill you on the spot.”
The crew mber was shocked and quickly shut his mouth while covering it with his hands, his eyes filled with despair.
Yan Fei said, “Now, I’m going to ask you so questions, and you must answer honestly. If I find out you’re lying, you’ll end up like that.”
Yan Fei casually picked up a stainless steel serving plate from the table, crumpled it into a ball, and then freely changed its shape. Finally, with a flick of his finger, he shot the reshaped ball into the wall where it beca embedded.
Seeing Yan Fei’s power, the crew mber was trembling with fear. He knew the plate was made of stainless steel, which he couldn’t budge an inch with his own strength, yet the stainless steel was as malleable as clay in the hands of the shadowy masked man. How could his mortal flesh compare to steel? So, he nodded repeatedly and said, “Spare , hero, ask anything, and I will answer honestly, I dare not deceive you.”
Yan Fei asked, “From where did this ship set sail, and where is it heading to?”
The crew mber replied, “Our ship departed from the Min River in China, and our destination is the United States of Arica.”
Yan Fei asked, “When did you leave the Min River?”
The crew mber answered, “September 10th.”
Yan Fei frowned. It was now the evening of September 15th, and Lu Pingping had disappeared on September 12th. This ant that the ship was already en route when Lu Pingping vanished. Could it be that she was not on this cargo ship? He quickly asked, “After setting sail, did the ship make any stops? Did anyone get on or off during the voyage?”
The crew mber said, “After we set off from the Min River in China, we did not make any stops, and no one got on or off. However…”
Yan Fei eagerly asked, “However, what?”
The crew mber hesitated before saying, “In the last day or two, I’ve noticed that a few extra people appeared on the ship. These people aren’t part of our crew, and they always hide in the lower cabins, secretive and elusive. If it wasn’t for al tis, we wouldn’t even see them at all. I don’t know if these people boarded the ship while we were at the Min River or snuck on later.”
Yan Fei asked, “Don’t you know how many people and who is on your ship?”
The crew mber explained, “Before we set off for the United States of Arica, our boss specifically told us to mind our own business and not to interfere in any other matters. So even though we found several unfamiliar people on the ship and felt sothing was off, we didn’t say much. In fact, we also noticed other oddities; the route we’re now on is extrely remote, and it’s one we’ve never taken before, but the boss insisted on this route against our objections. Moreover, for so reason, the boss has reduced the ship’s speed to a very low level, and we don’t know what he’s up to.”
Yan Fei asked, “Who is your boss? Is he on this ship?”
The crew mber said, “Our boss is a Middle Eastern man nad Sharim Hussein. He’s also on the ship this ti, but I don’t know in which cabin. We usually just receive orders from him through a satellite phone.”
Yan Fei asked, “Have you seen a Chinese woman on this ship?”
The crew mber shook his head, “Apart from those whose identities we don’t know, there are no other strangers on this ship. I haven’t seen any Chinese woman.”
Yan Fei felt sowhat disappointed and asked a few more questions about the cargo ship, but it seed that the crew mber really was just a minor crew mber who knew nothing, so Yan Fei knocked him out. Yan Fei dragged another crew mber from outside and interrogated him instead, ending up with information similar to the first crew mber’s. Yan Fei knocked them out again.
