What’s wrong with you?”
Once again, Liu Hong’s faint voice ca through the phone, still unintelligible. Then, after a gasp and a few coughs, her voice beca clearer, and she said anxiously, “Boss, it’s bad news. Mr. Lu was just kidnapped.”
Yan Fei felt his mind go blank with a “boom,” and it took him a while to collect himself. He quickly asked, “What did you say? Mr. Lu was just kidnapped?”
Liu Hong coughed a few tis, her voice weak as she said, “Boss, I’m sorry, we failed to protect him, and Mr. Lu was kidnapped.”
Hearing that Lu Pingping was in trouble, Yan Fei felt dazed as if his soul was about to fly away. But he imdiately forced himself to calm down and asked, “Liu Hong, where are you now?”
Liu Hong replied, “I’m in the woods at the end of Hongfei Road…”
Before Liu Hong could finish, the call went silent. Holding the mute phone, Yan Fei beca extrely panicked. But he quickly regained his composure and started calling Lu Pingping’s mobile. The automated ssage indicated that the phone was switched off. Stubborn, he tried calling several more tis, but the answer was always the sa. He then started calling the landline at Lu Pingping’s house, but the phone rang for a long ti without an answer.
Finally, Yan Fei called Lu Pingping’s office, and the call was quickly answered by the secretary she had left in charge at the company. Through the secretary, Yan Fei learned that Lu Pingping had left the company at ten o’clock that evening, along with two female bodyguards. According to Lu Pingping’s schedule, she had planned to go ho to rest.

Yan Fei got out of the car and began searching for Lu Pingping’s bodyguard, Liu Hong. Under the dim park lights, he finally found Lu Pingping’s vehicle on a secluded path. Although Lu Pingping had lived a comfortable life after surviving a family tragedy, she hadn’t experienced much hardship. Now that she was kidnapped, she might face torture, and he wondered whether she would be able to endure.
