Chapter 1210: Chapter 477: The Great Blackout in the United States of Arica_2 Chapter 1210: Chapter 477: The Great Blackout in the United States of Arica_2 If it were a localized blackout, it would be quite normal. But when the power outage was nationwide and even included The United States of Arica’s overseas territories, it beca extrely abnormal.
The old President of The United States was not an expert in the power industry, and he was yet to understand the imnse risks involved, rely complaining, “What on earth are those power companies doing? How could they allow a power outage to occur at this critical mont?”
The technician replied, “Mr. President, our team has determined that this major blackout was not caused by the power companies. Soone breached our Power System and implanted a very special Virus, which then exploded on a wide scale at the sa ti, destroying the operation of the entire Power System and resulting in the nationwide blackout. Many of our backup power supplies are also connected to the external Power Supply, and they too were infected with this special Virus, so they also cannot be started normally.”
The Secretary of State of The United States inquired, “Are you suggesting our power grid did not experience a natural accident but was attacked by soone, is that correct?”
The technician confird, “Indeed, soone attacked our Power System. If it weren’t for an attack, I really cannot imagine how all parts of the power system in our country could fail at the exact sa ti when neither Canada nor xico, which are adjacent to us, are experiencing blackouts.”
Seeing everyone deep in thought, the technician continued, “Because the Power System was completely down, network systems that rely on it have also ceased to operate. This ans that people can no longer access the internet, mobile phone communication is unavailable, Television Station programming can’t be broadcast, Banking Systems are down, credit cards can’t be swiped, airplanes can’t take off or land properly, and traffic lights on the roads are paralyzed. All applications dependent on the Power System are incapacitated, and The United States of Arica is plunged into extre chaos. However, it’s still night-ti there now, so most people are sleeping. If the situation remains the sa by tomorrow day, then The United States will face an unimaginable disaster…”
Following the technician’s reminder, everyone was stricken with fear as they considered the horrifying scenario of life without power. After a while, the Secretary of State angrily stated, “It was Dream Island; it must have been hackers from Dream Island who invaded our power grid! How dare they do this—our power grid is not a military target…”
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff comnted indifferently, “We had previously deployed our Cyber Warfare Troops to attack everything on Dream Island, including their power systems. We didn’t bother to check whether those targets were for military use. So why couldn’t Dream Island retaliate against us with their own Cyber Warfare Troops?”
The Secretary of State retorted furiously, “How can you equate the two? You must understand that our cause is just, great, and aid at making life better for the Arican people, spreading freedom and civilization all over the world. In contrast, everything about Dream Island is evil. Their leaders are all damn yellow-skinned monkeys, a cancer of the world, which must be restrained by our just efforts.”
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff sneered, “So you go around promoting that The United States lies, deceives, steals, spoiling our reputation worldwide? With those words you’ve spoken, our nation’s reputation is now rotten internationally. Is this how you honor the ancestors who paid a huge price for our country’s progress?”
The exasperated old President of The United States, hearing his subordinates argue, shouted, “Enough, gentlen! This is the most critical mont for The United States; you should be pulling together, devising collective strategies instead of engaging in pointless disputes.”
Everyone fell silent, and the old President asked, “How long before our Power System, Banking System, Network System, and Television Stations can be restored to normal?”
The technician replied, “The hackers’ Attack thod is very peculiar, using technology that we have never encountered before. Although our technicians have detected the specialized Virus planted by the adversaries, we are at a loss to eliminate it. Without removing these special Viruses, we can’t retake control of our Power System. Other systems dependent on the basis of electricity cannot be restored unless the Power System is functional. If we fail to resolve this issue, then The United States of Arica could be reduced to the Stone Age.”
The strength of The United States largely hinges on its high-tech capabilities, all of which are built on the foundation of electric power. If the power grid can’t be restored, the high-tech infrastructure built upon it will collapse imdiately. The imnse reliance on electricity, not just for the high-tech-dependent Army but also because the failure of the Banking System could lead to the collapse of the financial Markets, could beco unbearable for the nation. The societal order is also highly dependent on the Power System, and without stepping outside, everyone knew that the current situation must be one of extre chaos.
Should The United States continue in this state of disarray, with the governnt unable to solve the turmoil, the nation could even face a real split. By then, it wouldn’t just be Dream Island, which was still at war with The United States, but also other nations they had previously offended would swoop in to tear The United States into pieces…
