Su Mucheng casually answered.
The three blinked, feeling once again the injustice of society... but also feeling that it wasn't necessarily wrong.
"So, you don't need to regularly top up the card with money?" Gu Zhengliang was still not giving up.
"No need, Qiao receives a monthly allowance that goes directly into his al card. Anyway, we don't know how much money is on the al card, and the cafeteria has never said that Qiao's card was short on funds and needed recharging."
Understood, it's a different kind of free al, but it's legal, and it's enviable.
"This treatnt for Qiao, even an academician might not have enjoyed it, right?" Zhang Zhou comnted with a sigh.
"Be confident. Remove 'might' and turn it into a statent. You've forgotten, in our first year, we saw an academician from the neighboring engineering school lining up at the cafeteria just like us." Gu Zhengliang pushed up his glasses and said.
"Let's not talk about that. How's your research topic coming along?" Qiao Ze asked.
"It's almost complete. Liu said he has already submitted it, and now it's awaiting review," Zhang Zhou quickly replied.
"Oh? To which journal did you submit?" Qiao Ze inquired.
"Analysis & Pde." Gu Zhengliang learned to answer quickly this ti.
"Hm? Not New Discoveries in Mathematics and Physics?" Qiao Ze was sowhat surprised.
"Liu first had professors from the Mathematics Research Institute review it and felt that our paper wasn't quite up to the publication standards of New Discoveries, so we decided to submit to Analysis & Pde instead. Actually, it's not bad, it's a Q1 journal at Hua Academy of Sciences. I figure, Analysis & Pde probably considers that Liu's affiliation is our Mathematics Research Institute..." Zhang Zhou said sowhat embarrassedly.
He knew very well what each person's capabilities were.
They hadn't involved Qiao Ze much in the choice of their topic, thankfully Liu Chenfeng had a good standing at the Mathematics Research Institute, and several professors helped them refine their work. And they did it purely out of goodwill, without any demand for authorship. Of course, this was all out of respect for Qiao Ze.
Thus, the two were very satisfied. Having a publication in a Q1 journal as undergraduates, their prospects for postgraduate recomndation were pretty much set in stone. With the current standing of Xilin University of Technology, as long as they could get recomnded for postgraduate studies at their own university, their future would be stable. So indeed, they had no reason to be discontented.
Although Chen Yiwen's na appeared in top journals, he hadn't contributed much. They, on the other hand, had done many substantial proof tasks.
"I see..." Qiao Ze nodded, feeling slightly embarrassed.
Originally, when he promised to do research projects with them, he thought that the papers should definitely be publishable in top journals. Who would have thought that after nearly a year of work on the topic, Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang even gave up their sumr break to work hard on research, and in the end, only managed to publish in "Analysis & Pde."
It's true that it's a Q1 journal at Hua Academy of Sciences, but even in the field of PDE, it pales in comparison to established journals like Comm. Pure Appl. Math., Arch. Ration. ch. Anal. and the like.
This probably indicates that the quality of the paper itself truly wasn't that high.
But thinking of his few doctoral students, Qiao Ze felt it was quite reasonable.
"You'll be preparing for the recomndation process in your junior year, right?" Qiao Ze pondered and asked.
"Yes, yes, we plan to apply for postgraduate studies in our own school. We even asked specifically, Professor Li has three postgraduate places every year." Zhang Zhou blinked and said shyly.
Although he didn't spell it out, the implication was quite obvious...
"Professor Li mainly studies Group Theory, are you planning to research Group Theory in the future?" Qiao Ze asked.
"Err, we plan to study Qiao's Algebraic Geotry; Gu Zhengliang and I have already started to learn the contents of Abstract Algebra online to lay the foundation. Liu ntioned that the new students Professor Li has taken on are also doing research on this topic." Zhang Zhou quickly replied.
Chen Yiwen opened his mouth to speak but still held back.
Usually, it was fine to fool around and poke fun, but at this mont, he really shouldn't interrupt since it concerned his roommates' future.
"Oh, I see." Qiao Ze thought for a bit then said: "Alright, keep studying Abstract Algebra, I'll speak to Dean Xu tomorrow, and you guys can attend classes with the Qiao Class from now on. Their course schedule and textbooks are all compiled by professors from the Mathematics Research Institute, all for laying the groundwork for superspiral algebra and transcendental geotry."
"Ah? Then wouldn't we have to study for another four years?" Hearing this arrangent, Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang were sowhat dumbfounded.
"Not at all, the Qiao Class only has a two-year curriculum," Qiao Ze shook his head and said.
"Graduating after sophomore year?" Gu Zhengliang said in astonishnt.
"No, those who can't keep up after two years will transfer to the School of Mathematics to study with the juniors; if their grades are up to the mark, they will get a direct recomndation for postgraduate studies at the Mathematics Research Institute. The Ze Class is the sa," Qiao Ze explained succinctly.
Zhang Zhou and Gu Zhengliang were stunned, imdiately feeling an imnse pressure.
This arrangent was incredible!
What to do when all their future classmates are top-notch competition students? Their hearts raced with anxiety...
