Chapter 1442: Chapter 1428: Choice Chapter 1442: Chapter 1428: Choice He beca increasingly red, his fists clenched tightly, with a surge of energy forming within him.

He seed to want to shatter the lightning, growing redder and redder.

With a roar and a thunderous boom, a wave of energy burst forth from within him, unleashing a shockwave that devoured all the lightning, including the three boxes that had been releasing it, completely destroying them.

The shockwave shattered several large rocks beside him, and even caused a few stones above his head to fall down. For a mont, it looked as if the cave was going to collapse.

Yu Yun and Yang Tao’er, fortunately, hid in ti, or they would have surely been buried alive.

The Wolf King crawled out from the wreckage, breathing heavily; this release had temporarily dispelled the excess energy from his body.

It left him utterly exhausted.

He breathed heavily, his chest rising and falling as if he were about to take his last breath, kneeling in the ruins.

The fur shed from him, bare-chested, wearing only a pair of torn pants, he reverted to his human form, collapsing as if dehydrated.

Yu Yun rushed over.

Yang Tao’er called out, “Don’t you…” but how could she possibly hold her back?

Ye Chen seed as if he had died, but his eyes still carried a dark aura; clearly, the demonic energy had returned to his body.

Only when she was certain this was all real did Yang Tao’er approach.

Yu Yun held him, weeping bitterly.

His eyes were lifeless, as if he was on the brink of death, closing, perhaps from sheer exhaustion. How could he not be tired after fighting for a day in the valley and undergoing such an ordeal? It was a wonder he still had breath in him.

“Co and check on him quickly,” Yu Yun said.

Yang Tao’er didn’t need further instruction; she knew what she had to do—check his pulse.

Only then did Yu Yun realize dawn had broken, a beam of light entering from the cave entrance, brightening the once dark interior.

“How is he, how is he?” Yu Yun wanted to know the outco, to know if there was any chance of saving him.

Not wanting to deceive Yu Yun, Yang Tao’er replied, “We must cast a spell quickly. In less than six hours, he will turn back into a werewolf. His inner chaos is severe—with demonic energy and magic power both present. It’s a complete ss, utterly out of control. We must find a way to purge the demonic energy.”

“What, he’ll beco the Wolf King again?”

“Yes, the current suppression is only temporary; he could turn back into the Wolf King at any mont.”

Yu Yun shook her head, “No, he can’t turn back into a werewolf again. We barely survived bringing him back to human form. If he turns into a werewolf again, wouldn’t he be even harder to control?”

Yang Tao’er nodded.

Yu Yun continued, “Casting a spell, how do we do that? Can the Crystal Beast do it?”

“I’ve already told you, spells involving humans and beasts are very complex. I haven’t mastered them. I don’t know how to control it.”

“So it must be between humans, right?”

Yang Tao’er explained, “I’m not sure, but I know we have to try with soone. If we can draw out the magic power within him, which is the Wolf King’s Ring’s magic power, there might be a chance of saving him. But if he turns into a wolf again, I can do nothing.”

“So there’s no way to save him then?”

“We need to find soone, we must find soone. We may save his life, but I can’t guarantee it’s 100% certain. If we don’t take the risk, there’s only one path left for him—to descend into madness, permanently controlled by magic power.”

Yu Yun removed the Wolf King’s Ring from his hand, tears brimming in her eyes.

“How much ti is left before he turns into the Wolf King again?” asked Yu Yun.

“Six hours, ideally we start the spellcasting within six hours. The longer we wait, the more unstable it will get. If he turns into the Wolf King again, it will only get worse. We were lucky to control him this ti, but the next outburst will be even more terrifying, and the two of us definitely won’t be able to handle it.”

Looking at his familiar face, he appeared like a sleeping child, Yu Yun gripped the Wolf King’s Ring tightly.

Yang Tao’er said, “Perhaps there are people from the Dragon Slaying Clan in the forest. If we can capture one within six hours, then we can use him to cast the spell on Ye Chen. We have to take a gamble.”

“Alright, we’ll split up now, find a despicable one to bring back, and et back here in the cave after six hours,” Yang Tao’er declared.

“Right, let’s just hope we can find soone.”

The two quickly discussed their plan and set off in separate directions.

Yu Yun told Yang Tao’er, “Whether you catch soone or not, make sure to co back on ti.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t delay.”

“Okay then, you take the left side, and I’ll take the right.”

The pair morized the location of the cave entrance and then headed off in their assigned directions.

Only after they had separated did Guo Yuyun realize the true vastness of the desolate mountain; only then did she comprehend how far they had run the previous night. This accursed mountain was utterly barren—not a bird in sight, let alone people.

Yun’er nibbled on a couple bites of at and continued downward, wishing desperately that she could find soone utterly unforgivable.

However, the people of Dragon Slayer Island, no matter how dimwitted, wouldn’t choose to flee into the barren mountains; they would more likely head for crowded places like the townships, where people from the Immortal Demon Realm wouldn’t dare to wreak havoc.

After circling around for half a day, sweating profusely, how could she possibly find soone? Over half of the six hours had already passed, and she was beginning to panic.

She trusted that Yang Tao’er was feeling the sa; what if they couldn’t find soone? What would they do?

Right, if they couldn’t find soone to cast the spell, then what?

Just let Ye Chen succumb to demonic possession? No, that could not be allowed; if Ye Chen were overtaken by demons, then her heart would follow suit. She couldn’t allow this to happen.

Then, what should she do? They had to find soone to cast the spell. Yang Tao’er had said that Ye Chen’s recovery this ti was fortunate, but next ti it wouldn’t be so easy, and if it ca to that, he would only succumb to demonic possession.

She pulled out the Wolf King’s Ring from her bosom, rembering sothing. She recalled, very distinctly, that according to one of Yang Tao’er’s drafts, the more in tune soone was with Ye Chen, the higher the success rate of the spell casting would be—and she also knew so of the steps.

In any case, she simply wouldn’t allow Ye Chen to succumb to demonic possession. Absolutely not.

Her thoughts began to race chaotically.

That single tear had awakened his mories, ensuring that he didn’t kill her—it was the best solace.

If she had to choose between the two of them, she wouldn’t hesitate to let Ye Chen live.

She knew what awaited her if she made such a choice.

Perhaps this was fate—die together if they must, but if only one could live, then it must be him.

Only then did Yang Tao’er feel regret. Dammit, this was a place where even the birds wouldn’t deign to defecate. Forget about soone from the Dragon Slaying Clan; she bet there was nobody else on the entire mountain apart from the three of them, not even a ghostly shadow. The ti gradually approached noon, which was when they had agreed to et.

Yang Tao’er discovered that Yun’er had returned early; she was sitting at the entrance of the cave and asked, “Did you capture soone from the Dragon Slaying Clan?” She didn’t imdiately go inside the cave; if Yun’er said she had captured soone, she would definitely turn around and leave, for it was impossible for soone from the Dragon Slaying Clan to appear here.

Once Yun’er confird that she hadn’t captured anyone, she said, “How could there be soone from the Dragon Slaying Clan in these mountains? Last night, we ran for miles on end.”

“So, you didn’t capture anyone?”

“I caught a hunter.”

“What, you caught a hunter?”

“Yes, probably ca up from the foot of the mountain to hunt.”

Half-believing, Yang Tao’er nodded and said, “Well, that’s good enough. People must fend for themselves, or else face annihilation.”

“Right, if lightning is to strike, then let it strike ,” Yun’er turned and entered the cave.

Yang Tao’er followed her, asking, “Where’s the hunter?”

“Tied up ahead. If you don’t tie him up, he’ll run away.”

Yang Tao’er believed her and remarked, “Makes sense, you should tie him up.”

As they entered deeper into the cave, Yang Tao’er sensed sothing was amiss and asked, “Where’s the hunter?”

“It’s .”

“What? I will absolutely never cast the spell for you, never,” said Yang Tao’er, realizing what she was up to.

However, Yun’er said, “Then we might as well die together. If he succumbs to demonic possession and can’t survive, I won’t be able to live either.”

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

“I’m not spouting nonsense—I’m serious. If he dies, my heart will die too. If only one of us can live, then it has to be him.”

“You’re crazy! I just told you that the spellcasting might not save Ye Chen, and you could likely fail. Then he won’t co back and you’ll die as well.”

“It’s okay. I know that. But there’s still a chance he could be saved. If he’s on the brink of succumbing to demonic possession, I’ll join him.”

“I will not cast the spell for you, no matter what. I can’t do sothing like this—even if one day I did save him, the Werewolves wouldn’t spare . I will never sacrifice one life for another, and what’s more, yours.”

Yun’er then took out the Wolf King’s Ring and said, “I’m afraid you don’t have a choice.” She slipped it on her middle finger and followed by taking out several Silver Needles.

Yang Tao’er shouted, “What are you doing?”

Yun’er’s Silver Needles had already struck several vital acupoints.

Yang Tao’er realized then that the girl had perused the manual for spellcasting. To initiate the first step, she had to wear the Wolf King’s Ring, and Yun’er had sealed off several critical acupoints. She was being forced to cast the spell.

Yun’er was certain that once she started the first step of casting the spell and put on the ring, Yang Tao’er couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. In the end, she would have to cast the spell because if she didn’t, both of them would die in this cave.

Yang Tao’er beca frantic and cried out, “Girl, calm down! This is no joke—you could be damned forever.”

“I’ve thought it through during these six hours. I can’t just watch him succumb to demonic possession.”
