Four years ago, they tried to nab Ling’er. That matter still remains unresolved, and they’re surely involved.” His recent disciple’s assault had greatly bothered him.
Jiang Zhuge responded, “There might be so connection, but at present, we lack concrete evidence. We should focus our energy on the affairs of the Wastelands.”
“Well, I don’t care if they are related or not. As soon as we find proof, I won’t spare the culprit.” Wei Sisan seed to have reached the end of his patience. He had spent years addressing the Wastelands’ troubles, yet there were those who continued to create havoc. How could he stand for it?
Xiao Bai retorted, “These matters are not the kind which can simply be tolerated and forgotten. As long as these pests exist, they will always sche to commit evil deeds.”
“Have Zhi Lang Taoist Priest and Ming Qi returned?” Wei Sisan inquired.
“They will be back tomorrow,” Jiang Zhuge confird.
Xiao Bai interjected, “Sect Leader, we can’t just turn a blind eye to these matters. It’s high ti that we took decisive action in the Wastelands. We must eradicate these pests. As long as they’re lurking, they’ll always pose a threat. The final solution is to eliminate these troublemakers. Otherwise, it always feels like there’s a knife hanging over our heads. Who knows when they might strike? If you can dodge it, it doesn’t matter, but if not, you could lose your life. As for the matter with Ling’er, if she hadn’t escaped, who knows how things would have ended up?”
Wei Sisan fell silent, punctuating the silence with a cough.
Jiang Zhuge, worried, advised, “Sect Leader, you should look after your health.”
Wei Sisan dismissed him with a wave of his hand.
Xiao Bai declared, “I know of an excellent divine physician. I’ll bring him over to check on you, Sect Leader.”

The more we tolerate them, the bolder they beco, treating us with complete disregard. Now that we’ve left the Third Demon and established the New City Sect, we should not harbor any reservations. We must adhere to the rules; punish when punishnt is due. If not, they’ll never take us seriously.”
Jiang Zhuge remained silent.
Wei Sisan nodded, declaring, “Alright. We’ll discuss any issues tomorrow morning when Zhi Lang Taoist Priest and Ming Qi are back.”
Without delay, Jiang Zhuge and Xiao Bai retreated.
Wei Sisan had spent the past few days considering the establishnt of a Vice Sect Leader position in the New City Sect. After much thought, he concluded that Jiang Zhuge would be the best fit. There were basically two candidates – Jiang Zhuge and Xiao Bai – but Xiao Bai was too hasty. Even minor incidents could escalate into major turmoil under his watch. Appointing Jiang Zhuge as the Vice Sect Leader seed to be the most reliable option.
Initially, he saw no rush in announcing the Vice Sect Leader’s appointnt. But given his health, he realized the necessity of having soone who could take charge of the New City Sect if an ergency were to occur.
The next day, at noon, Zhi Lang Taoist Priest and Ming Qi returned.
Upon their arrival, Wei Sisan began, “A lot has happened in the Wastelands during the past few days, as you must have heard.”

“I don’t care whether they just can’t stand us or not, and I don’t care about that, all I know is that I have to deal with whatever cos up,” Wei Sisan continued, “But before we make further arrangents, I want to announce sothing. I want to appoint a temporary Vice Sect Leader.”
Xiao Bai stopped in his tracks.
“Everyone should be aware of my recurring illness,” Wei Sisan continued, “I don’t know when I might beco incapable of leading. Our New City Sect is fairly large now and should have a Vice Sect Leader. Aside from the fact that I genuinely need soone to assist , if sothing were to happen to , there should still be soone to take care of the New City Sect’s affairs.”
Wei Sisan had once asked Xiao Bai who was the most suitable person to be Vice Sect Leader, and Xiao Bai had shared his thoughts. He thought Wei Sisan intended to make him the Vice Sect Leader and had already discussed how he would handle things if he were selected.
Xiao Bai had also heard Wei Sisan’s assessnt of him, stating that he wasn’t calm enough. But among him and Jiang Zhuge, he had been with Wei Sisan the longest. No one else had been with Wei Sisan longer than him.
Everyone was anxiously waiting for Wei Sisan to announce his decision.
Then finally, he said, “I have decided to appoint Jiang Zhuge as the Vice Sect Leader of the New City Sect.”

Upon hearing Wei Sisan’s explanation, the crowd voiced their agreent. Only Xiao Bai was left sowhat bewildered.
Wei Sisan called out to interrupt Xiao Bai’s contemplation, saying, “Xiao Bai, I heard that the people from No. One Thieves have already infiltrated Tianle City, you should take a team and go check it out.”
Xiao Bai rushed to respond, “Uh-huh.” He seed slow to grasp the situation.
Wei Sisan was aware of this, but this decision of appointing the Vice Sect Leader was made after much deliberation. Xiao Bai had been a bit agitated recently, his actions impulsive. Zhi Lang Taoist Priest and Ming Qi nodded in agreent upon hearing this.
Wei Sisan soon made the arrangents.
Everyone gradually dispersed, leaving only Jiang Zhuge and Wei Sisan. Jiang Zhuge seed worried. Wei Sisan had given him the position of Vice Sect Leader without giving him any indication or a chance to ntally prepare.
