??Chapter 127: Chapter 122: Four and a Half Years

Chapter 127: Chapter 122: Four and a Half Years

“I ought to give this courtyard a na, let’s call it Liuye Manor.” Ye Chen suggested.

“I think it would be better to call it Hell Manor. After your training here, you’ll surely think this place is hell, and the re thought of it will frighten you in the future.” the Red Demonic Spirit retorted.

“Don’t scare , I’m not easily frightened.”

“Self-delusion works best, but you’ve got to step it up.”

Ye Chen embarked on a new life at Liuye Manor, gradually forgetting the incidents in the Central Plains. Those mories were becoming more and more blurred, but he never forgot that night and the truths revealed.

The Red Demonic Spirit spoke harshly but truly. He was a ruthless man, not at all kind-hearted. Ye Chen began training in the martial arts inscribed in the Jade Ring. With the Jade Ring’s martial arts and the book, he slowly uncovered them step by step. The deeper he got, the harder he had to work to gain back the years he had lost.

Ti flew by quickly. In a blink of an eye, he had already spent four and a half years in Wasteland City. It was winter, and Ye Chen had gradually transford from a child to a teenager.

Within these four and a half years, he had unknowingly mastered all of the martial arts within the Jade Ring. Under the relentless punishnt of the Red Demonic Spirit, he had essentially deciphered the martial arts within the ring.

However, from the beginning, the Red Demonic Spirit had doubts because he knew these were not ordinary martial arts.

Ye Chen did not expect that learning the martial arts in the ring would take him four and a half years.

However, while practicing the martial arts in the Jade Ring, he was also increasing his power, cultivating wisdom, elevating his understanding, and expanding his capabilities under the guidance of the Red Demonic Spirit. The Spirit had helped the Red and Black Demon King a thousand years ago, and he knew how to enhance one’s power. He had a good amount of experience. In four and a half years, Ye Chen had managed to practice martial arts that others would take decades to master.

Ye Chen abided by the Red Demonic Spirit’s instructions. Although he lived in Wasteland City, he felt as if he had been cut off from people. His connection to Wasteland City was limited to his food and drink. He even ca up with a way to have food delivered directly to the courtyard, so he rarely went out. Even when the courtyard was overgrown with weeds, he didn’t have much ti to deal with it.

After two days of snow, the sun finally ca out today, which surprised him.

He had transford into a young man. Everything had changed in a blink of an eye.

Ye Chen prepared a al. Surprisingly, the Red Demonic Spirit could also eat, not having to constantly think about draining people.

It was already dusk.

People were breathing out white fog, tucking their hands into their sleeves.

Ye Chen prepared a hot pot in the house, shouting, “It’s ti to eat.”

The Red Demonic Spirit ca out, saying, “I have taught you all I know. From now on, you will have to rely on yourself.”

Ye Chen nodded slightly. He had indeed noticed that he had relearned the martial arts in the Jade Ring several tis, out of fear that he had not fully understood sothing. He had studied the book diligently.

“The only thing I can give you now,” continued the Red Demonic Spirit, “is my residual energy, unless you want to absorb all of it.”

“Rest assured, I’m not that heartless. Although I’d like to, I won’t do that.”

“Hehe, it’s really tough on you.”

“People only know that you carry energy. They don’t know that besides possessing imnse power, you also have so much knowledge.”

The Red Demonic Spirit said: “I know my capabilities. I can only help you unlock what is known within the Jade Ring, particularly about its powerful energy. I have never seen it before, you’ll have to figure it out yourself. But be careful, it’s a formidable force. If you’re not careful, you might hurt yourself.”

Ye Chen nodded and said, “I’ll keep your words in mind. Hurry up and eat.” It felt good to be alive again.

“Things are getting a bit chaotic in Wasteland City lately.”

“Yes, it’s quite chaotic, but that’s none of our business.” Ye Chen responded.

“Are you planning to return to the Central Plains now?”

“I’ve co to realize that sotis it’s not good to be too obsessed. Especially when it cos to matters of the heart, being obsessed only brings trouble.”

“Hehe, it’s not easy to let go of things.”

“Really! I’ve accepted the fact. If other people don’t want to acknowledge , it’s their business. I can’t force them to accept

as their son. I’m not that shaless.”

“Acceptance is good. Only after accepting everything can you make a change. Many people are unable to take the first step because they cannot accept their reality. They are constantly at the sa spot, exhausting themselves. Every person should have self-awareness. ”

“You’re not thinking of leaving , are you?”

The Red Demonic Spirit remained silent.

“If the energy within the Jade Ring can be controlled and released, will it give you a physical body?”

The Red Demonic Spirit paused for a while before answering: “I don’t know, but I know that the energy inside is difficult to control. It is even harder to handle than that of the Heavenly Pearl or the Immortal Pearl. We can only take it slowly.”

“You should stick with . I’ll think of a way to see if there’s really a chance to conjure up a physical form for you.”

“Afraid I’m being a burden? Or torturing you rcilessly?”

“I’m used to it.”

The Red Demonic Spirit said, “For you right now, this is an opportunity.”

“What opportunity?”

“Yes, aren’t you always striving to achieve sothing great? Now’s the ti. I sense that sooner or later, sothing big is going to happen in Wasteland City. Chaos is inevitable. When chaos ensues, your opportunity will co.”

“Hehe.” Ye Chen laughed.

“Don’t tell

you’ve lost your fighting spirit.”

“The fighting spirit is still there, still dreaming of having multiple wives and concubines.”

“That’s good. However, while your martial arts training is indeed complete, learning is endless. It takes ti to hone your skills before you can really beco top of the line. You lack experience and rember – there is always a higher mountain out there. No one can guarantee there won’t be soone stronger.”

Ye Chen nodded and said, “You should stick with . I’ll protect you.”

“You must be joking, do I look like soone who needs protection?”

“But, after all, so many people want to possess your power. You should stick with . Starting tomorrow, I will co up with a solution. Even if I can’t unlock the power in the Jade Ring, I will think about whether I can find the strength of Pangu to help you gain a physical form.”

“I’ve gotten used to it, whether I obtain the power or not. It does not seem to make much of a difference to . I am content with what I have. At least I don’t have to live in a sealed space all the ti.”

“That won’t do! You cannot wallow in self-pity. There has to be hope. Living without hope would make life unbearably dull.” said Ye Chen.

“I subscribe to Buddhist beliefs. You should focus on your own affairs. Starting today, you’re free.”

“Did I hear you right? I’m free? I’m liberated? I can find a woman now?”

“If you don’t want freedom, do you want to suffer for another four and a half years?”

“Absolutely not! Who doesn’t want freedom? I’ve longed for freedom since forever. Dreaming about freedom. I’ve been lonely to death, and a few tis, I wanted to give up. I must thank you for tornting

to the point of being more determined to continue. How can I let you look down on , let you laugh at ? I should be grateful to you for your provocations that insulted my dignity.”

“So you persevered, just so I wouldn’t laugh at you.”

“Pretty much, every single ti, each ti I saw you acting all high and mighty, I wondered how I could bow before you. How could I let you belittle ? Therefore, I persisted. I was thinking how I could get a handle on a mad man. The best way I ca up with was to join him in his madness.”

“Quit your sarcastic remarks and save your struggles for others.”

“Of course, I need to find soone to vent to. I am going to have a big drink tonight.”

“You, I reckon, will mostly likely end up dying at the hands of a woman.”

“Is that so? Dying at the hands of a woman sounds not bad. It would be offensive if I had to die at the hands of a man.” Ye Chen continued eating, muttering to himself, “I wonder what the situation outside is like.”

“Why not just go and ask around, then you’ll know everything.”

“It appears I can’t stuff myself too full, and neither can you. Tonight, we’ll head out together.”

“You want

to take over?”

“Hey, I’m used to it, I really don’t care anymore, go ahead.” At that mont, the Red Demonic Spirit could easily control him.

“You seem rather reluctant.”

“We will talk about it once we find your real body in the future.” Ye Chen continued to eat. At that mont, the fading sun was casting a few more shades of pale.

He felt unconsciously a bit cold.

He wished the heavy snow would pass quickly.

“I feel like I’ve never really fit into Wasteland City. ”

“You had this kind of feeling too.”

“I feel like I’m a hermit living in Wasteland City.”

“Horseshit, hermit! You seem more like a big mouth to .”

“Really, although I have been living here for four and a half years, I don’t think there’s any difference from living in the mountains for four and a half years. The only thing I have here is martial arts. I have nothing besides that.”

“Would you have achieved what you did today without these four and a half years!”

“I don’t know, but I deeply admire my own determination.”

“You don’t need to admire your own determination. You should admire having such a good teacher as .”

“Fine, I do admire you. It’s you who have let

taste the four flavours of life – sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy. Without a mad master, how could there be a crazy disciple.”

“Life, huh? You still haven’t even started yet.”

“I feel like I have started, although I won’t turn eighteen until the end of this winter. But, I feel like I am eighty.”

“Heh, you have beco an old man already.”

“Pretty much. I sotis really doubt if I’m indeed an old man, since I can’t find another interest.”

“You also have no interest in won?”

“Not that far, although the monastery is just behind , I assure you, I am a normal man. A normal man would certainly be interested in won. Otherwise, what’s the point of life?” said Ye Chen.

“I thought you had no interest in won.”

“Let’s not talk about it now. Hurry up and finish eating. Once we finish, we can take a good walk outside.”

“It seems you can’t wait.”

“Of course, I can’t wait. It’s been exactly four and a half years. These four and a half years felt like ten years to . I understand what you an when you say I’m dead.”
