??Chapter 120: Chapter 115: Saving Wei Yiling
Chapter 120: Chapter 115: Saving Wei Yiling
Wei Yiling recognized this boy, she’d seen him earlier today amongst the caravan, but despite this, she remained cautious. She couldn’t tell if he was a friend or a foe, or whether he was in cahoots with the group of n in black.
The sound of footsteps was constantly drawing nearer and nearer.
Wei Yiling didn’t know where to go, and ultimately, she ran towards Ye Chen.
“If you don’t want to be caught, then hurry over here,” Ye Chen had dug a pit deep enough to conceal soone. “Quickly, lie down.”
“What are you trying to do?”
Ye Chen didn’t offer much of an explanation. He yelled, “Stop dawdling!” He’d already pulled her over, shoved her straight into the pit, and without considering her feelings, he shoveled sand from both sides and directly poured it onto Wei Yiling, then smoothed it out.
“I’m covered in sand.”
“Want to live? If you do, then bear with it.”
The footsteps were getting closer and closer.
Only then did the girl lying in the pit stop struggling.
In not so long, he had buried her in the sand. Her head was almost wholly covered, leaving only her nose exposed so she could breathe.
“You’re not going to bury my nose and mouth too, are you? I won’t be able to breathe.”
Ye Chen took off a slly garnt, folded it, and covered her face with it.
“It stinks of sweat.”
“I know it’s slly. Just bear with it. Otherwise, they’ll really catch you, they’re after a young bride.”
The sound of footsteps on the other hand had beco increasingly clear, and Ye Chen quickly tidied himself up and said, “Don’t talk, they’re here.”
He pressed down on the piece of clothing again.
Just as expected, a dozen or so n in black carrying torches ca by.
Ye Chen lay there like a vagrant, and upon hearing people approaching, he tensed up.
The n in black ran past him, glancing over at Ye Chen and their surroundings.
Ye Chen seed a bit flustered, after all, a group of n in black wearing masks was alarming. He quickly pleaded, “Don’t kill … I’ll give you whatever you want…” He feigned fear.
One of the n in black ran up and asked, “Kid, have you seen a girl about your age run past here?”
Ye Chen promptly pointed north and said, “She ran that way.”
“Hurry after her!” The man in black imdiately led his mates and ran in that direction.
Wei Yiling was extrely uncomfortable. The heavy sand pressing down on her made it impossible for her to move. Ye Chen said, “Don’t move, the danger isn’t over yet.”
He pressed down on the clothing a little more then hurriedly pulled it back a bit, leaving the nostril that was on her face exposed.
At that mont, the Red Demonic Spirit ca back and asked, “Where’s the girl?”
Ye Chen looked at the clothing.
“Who are you talking to?” Wei Yiling asked.
“No one, you misunderstood. Just stay still for a bit longer, or else you’ll be abducted by that old man.”
The Red Demonic Spirit returned to Ye Chen.
People kept rushing by – more n in black, as well as Third Demon’s n. In large groups they passed by, one after another, but no one paid any more attention to Ye Chen after a brief glance at him. Not finding anything else suspicious, they ran in another direction, and this continued for an entire hour.
Everything finally quietened down. Ye Chen glanced around nervously, worried that the n would return. He hastily removed the clothing from the girl’s face.
“Your clothes stink so badly. Can’t you cover
with sothing else?” Wei Yiling complained.
“I haven’t changed clothes in days. If you want sothing else, how about my underwear?”
The girl glared at him.
Ye Chen brushed off the sand from his hair.
“Dig
out quickly,” Wei Yiling said.
“Don’t worry, I won’t bury you alive. I’m too fond of you for that.”
Ye Chen quickly shoveled out the sand, and Wei Yiling inside did not have to wait long. She got up, shook her clothes, and was completely sandboxed, as if she had taken a sand bath.
“Hurry, I think they’ll be back soon.”
“Why did you save ?”
“Supporting justice is sothing I do all the ti. There’s no need to be touched or to repay
with your body.”
“You little brat, you’re insane for a wife.”
“Whether I’m crazy or not, we’d better go now, or it’ll be too late.”
“So where are we supposed to go now?” Wei Yiling had already shook out several pounds of sand from her light purple clothes, giving them a sowhat greyish-yellow hue.
“I’ve already made them head north.”
“Then we should continue heading west to Wasteland City,” Wei Yiling suggested.
“No, no… We are going to Wasteland City, but we have to make a detour to get there. We can’t directly head west, otherwise they might guess that’s where you’ve gone if they can’t find you up north.”
Wei Yiling nodded after hearing this.
“Let’s go, they’ll definitely be back soon.”
“My na is Wei Yiling. What’s yours?”
“Ye Chen.”
“Why would you risk danger to save ?”
“Because I like you, of course, and I’m looking for a wife.” This wasn’t Ye Chen talking, it was the Red Demonic Spirit. Ye Chen muttered, “Old demon, quit stirring things up.”
“Are you always so straightforward? You seem to enjoy joking around.” Yiling said.
“Hmm, yes, I was joking.”
“It seems like you’re also headed to Wasteland City.”
“Hmm, yes, it’s on my way.”
“What about your horse and your belongings?”
“Those things aren’t worth much, I wouldn’t miss them.” Ye Chen glanced around, ensuring the danger had passed.
“Once we get to Wasteland City, I’ll make it up to you.”
“There’s no need, like I said before, they’re not worth much.”
“That’s not the point, you helped .”
Ye Chen, with Yiling by his side, took a detour to avoid the n in black, heading west towards Wasteland City under cover of darkness.
Yiling said: “My father should be sending people to look for us.”
“We probably shouldn’t rest tonight, let’s keep moving. It will be really difficult tomorrow during daylight.” They could use the cover of darkness to avoid detection from the Winged Dragons flying in the sky.
“As long as we make it through tonight, I’ll be fine.”
“Yes, we’re so close to Wasteland City, your father will send help soon.” Ye Chen reassured her.
“Do you have other arrangents? If you do, you can go ahead. I can manage on my own.”
“No, I’ve already told you that I don’t mind losing two pieces of clothing and a horse!”
“How co it’s just you? Where is your family?”
“They’re all gone.”
“An orphan?”
“Hmm, I suppose.”
“What do you an by ‘suppose’? Either you are or you aren’t.”
“There’s no difference. Does that count?” Ye Chen was alert, ready to hide at the first sound of footsteps.
“So you still have family.” The young girl was quite talkative.
“It’s the sa as if they’re dead.”
“Did you co from the Central Plains?”
Ye Chen curiously asked: “How did you know?”
“The cal team ca from the Central Plains, bringing people, most of them from the Central Plains.”
“Hmm, that’s true.”
“Why did you co to the Wastelands?”
“I wanted to see the world.”
“The Wastelands are in chaos. There’s nothing worthwhile to see and you could easily lose your life.”
“Yes, possibly.”
“You dare to run straight to the Wastelands all alone. Do you have any relatives here in the Wastelands?” Yiling asked.
“No, it’s just .”
“Alright, you helped
once. If you need anything in the future, look for us at the Third Demon’s place, and I’ll definitely help you.”
“Hehe, thanks then.” said Ye Chen.
“If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know if I could have escaped.”
Suddenly, the Red Demonic Spirit said: “There are people.”
“Quick, let’s hide behind that hill.” Ye Chen shouted, leading Yiling towards the hill. As expected, a group of n in black rushed past them soon after.
“Who are these people, and why are they trying to capture you?” Seeing the n rushing by, Ye Chen asked curiously.
“They want to use
against my father.” Wei Yiling guessed.
“Against your father?”
“Do you know who they are?”
“They should be the people from No. One Thieves.”
“The people from No. One Thieves, are trying to threaten your father, ask your father for money?”
“Most likely, it has sothing to do with the position of the Alliance Leader.” Yiling explained.
“The position of Alliance Leader.” Ye Chen had heard so rumors over the past couple of days: “Can they really beco the Alliance Leader?”
“Not them, soone else is making them do it. The people from No. One Thieves certainly can’t beco the Alliance Leader of Third Demon.” Yiling declared.
“So, there is a likelihood of collusion between soone in Third Demon and No. One Thieves.”
“Yes, I really need to thank you. If I fell into their hands, it would be very detrintal to my father.” Wei Yiling didn’t want soone to use her to threaten her father.
Those people had already passed by, and the two continued on their journey.
“It seems the affair of Third Demon is indeed complicated.”
“Yes, it is complicated.”
“Your father is aware but still ignores all this?”
