Chapter 107: Chapter 102: Won Just Can’t Stand Loneliness

The people of the Demon Domain had quieted down in the thick woods.

Yin Jue looked doubtful. “Could they also be lying in ambush for us?” he inquired.

“It’s unlikely. I’ve looked around in all directions. This isn’t a good ambush spot. And the Immortal Demon Domain only brought so many people. They couldn’t possibly orchestrate an ambush from both sides at the sa ti,” replied Jiu Jue.

Yin Jue nodded and queried further, “Have they escaped then?”

“They should have left by now.”

“Saint Kong probably has so wits about him,” remarked Yin Jue.

“As long as we manage to escape, staying inside the city would be hazardous.”

Yin Jue nodded again, as soone hurried over from behind. He removed a note from the ankle of the carrier pigeon.

Yin Jue took the note, skimd through it, and found written there: Child has left city with Red Demonic Spirit by climbing over the wall, probably back to the countryside. Detailed location coming soon!

Yin Jue was taken aback and muttered, “The child has escaped.”

“Escaped?” Jiu Jue was sowhat incredulous.

Yin Jue handed the note over to Jiu Jue for him to see.

“Countryside, I suppose we just have to wait for more news,” said Jiu Jue.

“Indeed, we can only wait.”

“This fellow must have followed out after us.”

Yin Jue fell silent on hearing this.

“Just that this fellow, with the help of the Red Demonic Spirit, ran too swiftly and is simply not easy to capture,” Jiu Jue declared.

“This ti, we won’t let him escape,” Yin Jue said internally, determined to capture the child.

Jiu Jue voiced his concern, “If that’s the case, the people from Immortal Demon Domain should be aware of his return to the countryside. They might also co after us.”

“Yes, they probably will. We must locate the child before they do.”

Ye Chen hadn’t had a peaceful sleep for several days.

The cry of a deer woke him up. The fire was already extinguished. It felt cold in the open fields, so Ye Chen stood up and examined his surroundings. It was foggy, and the grass was covered with dew as if it had rained lightly during the night.

He traversed through the dense woods in front and continued onward. After crossing a small hillock, he saw a small town. He sighed in relief, feeling the silver taels in his pocket. There was enough for a sumptuous al and to buy so extra necessities for the journey.

The Red Demonic Spirit asked, “Do you rember the way back to the countryside?”

“I should,” Ye Chen mumbled. Although he had been living in the countryside, he had also accompanied his mother on trips to the city.

Quickly blending into the little town, he sold so provisions for the journey and worked out the route. Afraid of possibly encountering people from the Evil and Demon Domains again, he left the town shortly after arriving.

No matter what, Guo Yuyun didn’t heed her father’s words and decided to travel to the countryside with him to see if that child had truly returned. It was the last chance, perhaps she would never see him again. After all, he had saved her life. Without him, she would have already turned into a corpse.

They got the exact address by noon.

Qiao Fanfeng didn’t inform many people about this trip. The forces from the Evil Domain and the Demon Domain disappeared quickly. Guan Yi and Wan Shatong went after their tracks.

“Any news?” Guo Mingyu asked.

Qiao Fanfeng nodded, “It’s not too far from here. We should be able to reach in about two days.”

“That’s really good news.”

“We don’t know yet if he’s genuinely returning to the countryside.”

“At least it’s better than having no lead.”

Hearing this, Qiao Fanfeng said, “So Yun’er also wants to go?”

“She claid that she’s friends with that child and wants to see him.”

“In that case, let’s prepare to set off,” declared Qiao Fanfeng.

“Okay, I’ll make the arrangents,” Guo Mingyu decided not to bring too many people, leaving so behind. He prepared to bring Yun along to find the child.

“Wei Junior Brother, are you ready?” Qiao Fanfeng called out.

“Almost ready,” replied Wei Chiqing. “It’s all my fault for not arranging everything in advance. Otherwise, we would have been able to depart earlier.”

“Never mind, make it quick. We must leave promptly,” encouraged Qiao Fanfeng. Most logistical matters of the Immortal City Sect were handled by Wei Chiqing.

“Two of the horses have injuries on their hooves. We’ll get two replacents, and we’ll be ready to leave,” Wei Chiqing said.

“Get on with it,” urged Qiao Fanfeng.

Wei Chiqing asked once again, “Senior Brother Guo, are you going with us too?”

“Yes, he’s just on the way and can accompany us there.”

With that, Wei Chiqing left to make the necessary arrangents.

In the Demon Domain, Yin Jue quickly received the exact address: Tianfang Village.

“Got the precise location?” asked Jiu Jue.

“Yes, however, Guo Mingyu and Qiao Fanfeng are coming too. If the child has indeed returned to the countryside, we must capture him and the Red Demonic Spirit before they arrive. Otherwise, we’re likely to run into them,” Yin Jue added.

Jiu Jue nodded, and said, “In that case, let’s travel overnight. They can’t possibly beat us to it.”

“We have no choice but to do that. I hope we can put so obstacles in their path,” Yin Jue said, anxiously, “Wake them up. We need to leave as soon as possible.”

Standing up, Jiu Jue responded, “I’ll arrange it.”

“Don’t bring those who are injured. They should figure out how to return and locate our boss.”

“Understood. I’ll make the arrangents right away and won’t delay our movents,” said Jiu Jue.

Yin Jue stated, “We need to find that child before they do. If the Red Demonic Spirit is in our possession, the situation will be entirely different.” It was a grand sche.

“We still aren’t certain if the child will return.”

“He’s just a child. His mother passed away, and Su Hong doesn’t recognize him. I think his only option is to return to the countryside. He has nowhere else to go.”

“Alright, hopeful he’s really in the village.”

“Indeed, let’s hurry, we’ll travel overnight.”

Jiu Jue quickly made arrangents.

Yu Yun also ca out with Guo Mingyu, they were ready to set off.

“Can you handle riding the horse?” Guo Mingyu asked.

“Who says I can’t handle it? Dad, you’re underestimating . Rest assured, my horse riding skills are better than yours.” Guo Yuyun even boasted a bit.

Ling Jian chuckled at this.

“Let’s get on our way, stop dilly dallying.” Guo Yuyun didn’t want to be the reason for everyone’s slowed travel speed.

“There’s no rush.” Guo Mingyu replied.

The long caravan of horses soon left Coastal City, heading towards Tianfang Village.

Ye Chen was getting further and further away from Coastal City and breathed a sigh of relief. But he didn’t find it tedious, having soone to talk to made the journey easier.

“You’re not planning on staying in the countryside forever, are you?” the Red Demonic Spirit asked.

“I haven’t thought about that yet.” Ye Chen shook his head.

“There’s probably nothing fun in the countryside.”

“I don’t think so. To , the countryside is more interesting than the city.”

“You’re just bluffing. In a place where even birds don’t poop, there are no beauties!” He didn’t believe it.

Ye Chen just smiled gently, “Do you just like going to cities?”

“Of course, the city has more beauties!”

“Don’t be so realistic.”

“There’s nothing wrong with liking beauties.”

“You’ll die at the hands of a woman sooner or later.”

“I don’t mind, dying at the hands of a woman is valuable. It’s dying alone that’s scary.”

Ye Chen said: “However you die, just don’t drag

into it.”

“There’s really no one you like in the countryside?”

Ye Chen just smiled faintly.

“I’m just curious.”

At dusk of that day, Ye Chen finally returned to his ho where he had not been for two months. To his surprise, grass in the yard was knee-high. The door was still closed, almost abandoned.

He exchanged greetings with so villagers and asked them for so food.

They wondered why he was alone and asked where his mother was. He didn’t tell them about his mother’s death, but just fended them off with a few simple sentences. He didn’t want to explain too much.

Damn drooling bastard, he really stole Little Hua. Won just can’t stand loneliness. It’s only been two months, it seems that mother was insightful. Little Hua acted as if she didn’t recognize him. But thinking about it, he understood, she might be angry that he left without saying goodbye.

He caught two fish in the river, busy for two hours before he finally prepared dinner. By then, the western glow was beginning to fade.

Unexpectedly, he began reminiscing about the old days, how good it would be if he had not left. But now, everything can only beco a mory. His mother died before his eyes, he could not help but let his tears fall while eating.

“Why are you crying?” the Red Demonic Spirit asked.

“How good it would be if we hadn’t left.” Ye Chen sighed, if they hadn’t left, his mother might not have died.

“Thinking about your mother again?”

Ye Chen nodded, “Honestly, if we hadn’t left, my mother would still be alive. I’d rather give up anything else. I don’t care who my father is, I just wish my mother could co back to life.”

“You know that’s impossible. You have to face reality. I think your mother wouldn’t want to see you so sad.”

While continuing to eat, Ye Chen asked, “Don’t you eat?”

“I only absorb spirit energy, energy, rarely eat.”

“You’re not going to kill people, are you?”

“Don’t worry, I won’t kill indiscriminately.”

“I don’t believe that.”

“Was it your father who ca here to get you out?”

Ye Chen nodded: “I really should not have gone with him, if I hadn’t everything would be fine.”

“Ah, stop thinking about these things.” The Red Demonic Spirit had already left his body, transford into a half-human figure. He was faint, like a ghost, sitting across Ye Chen. If you weren’t familiar with him, you might be scared.

The Red Demonic Spirit said: “The box you ntioned, where is it?”

Ye Chen stood up, knocked open the door of his mother’s room with a stone, and quickly found a dusty box under the bed.

“How long has it been since you opened it?”

“A long ti, I think my mother has almost forgotten about it.” Ye Chen brought the box out, blew off the dust on it. Using a pair of pliers, he opened the box. Inside were a few items, so ornants, and so books which had all turned gray.

The Red Demonic Spirit pulled out a book from the box with a dragon on the cover but no words.

“This seems to be a mark of the Dragon Slaying Clan.”

“Dragon Slaying Clan?” Ye Chen asked quizzically.

“Yes, I don’t rember, but I rember seeing this emblem a long ti ago. It’s the Dragon Slaying Clan.” The Red Demonic Spirit pointed at the emblem.

“I heard that the Dragon Slaying Clan was virtually wiped out by the people of Immortal and Demon domains.”

“That was more than a decade ago. I don’t know, but I confirm this is the Dragon Slaying Clan’s emblem.”

“My mother never told

about the Dragon Slaying Clan. How co she has sothing of theirs?” Ye Chen shook his head, picked up the ornants, and thought about selling them. But he hesitated – should he really sell them? He cherished them and put them back down.

Mother is already dead, what’s the use of keeping these? Keep one or two, sell the rest!
