"What did you say to him?" Catherine asked Lin Shen, who had returned.
Catherine, being a person of acute intellect, had long guessed the identity and purpose of Wan Xinlong, and had even deduced who had advised Wan Xinlong.
With Wan Xinlong's status and position, for him to have co to Diman Star, he must have exhausted all his connections and abilities.
Wanting to attend the Dialectics Conference was beyond his capabilities; surely soone was helping him from the shadows.
It was because she understood why Wan Xinlong had co that she grew curious. She wondered what exactly Lin Shen had said to make Wan Xinlong risk the Wan Family's complete downfall, overturning his previous plan.
Long Yue also looked on at Lin Shen with curiosity, hoping to know his answer.
By this point, Long Yue too had realized that Wan Xinlong had been setting up Lin Shen all along.
How could soone willing to sully himself just to throw dirt on Lin Shen change his intentions so easily, simply because of a few words from Lin Shen?
"I simply told him that people only like the pristine and fragrant lotus, not the foul-slling silt," Lin Shen said calmly.
Catherine glanced at Wan Xinlong on the field and squinted, smiling, "That's an interesting philosophy. At least now, he doesn't seem as detestable."
Long Yue nodded thoughtfully, looking at Lin Shen, "You've pulled your enemy out of the fire pit. I'm afraid this karma will fall on you now. Such a choice is harmful and not beneficial to you. Why make it?"
Long Yue had guessed that Lin Shen was the one Catherine had brought along, so her curiosity about him had grown even more intense.
Although Wan Xinlong had attempted to sar Lin Shen with his unclean actions, these lowly acts wouldn't have any real impact on Lin Shen as long as he didn't reveal his identity or respond.
The masked eting gave Lin Shen a choice, but Lin Shen's decision seed quite interesting to Long Yue. He had not fallen into Wan Xinlong's trap of representing the Human Race with arrogance, nor had he vented his resentnt on Wan Xinlong. Instead, he persuaded Wan Xinlong, who was determined to sully him, and he succeeded, which was quite unexpected.
If Long Yue could guess that he was Lin Shen, then so could others. Lin Shen's behavior undoubtedly put himself at the forefront of controversy.
Indeed, as Long Yue had surmised, the King, Big Head, and a few others had guessed Lin Shen's identity. Their attention was not on Wan Xinlong, the victor of the competition.
A Nirvana Being from a minor clan, even with so strength, was not enough to capture their attention. Nirvana Beings like that were too common around them.
But Lin Shen was different. Not only was his reputation widespread across the cosmos, but there were even rumors that he had fought with Di Esi. Moreover, he was a close courtier of the Heavenly Emperor of the Celestial Race, and this ti he was representing the Celestial Race on a mission to the Diman Tribe. His status was no longer just that of an Ascender or a Nirvana Being.
Being both Human, they could disregard Wan Xinlong, but they couldn't ignore Lin Shen. Find your next read at My Virtual Library Empire
"I just wanted to confirm whether he was my enemy or not," Lin Shen's reply took Catherine and Long Yue by surprise.
"So? Is he not your enemy now?" Long Yue couldn't help but ask.
"No, I've confird that he is my enemy. If I get the chance, I will kill his entire family," Lin Shen's reply left both Long Yue and Catherine montarily stunned.
Catherine laughed, and she laughed rrily, "You really are an interesting person."
Long Yue couldn't help but feel a mix of laughter and tears; she sowhat couldn't understand Lin Shen's thought process, but now she felt, Lin Shen didn't seem as hollow and boring as she had previously thought.
"Your Highness must be Lin Shen," said Charles, clad in his King's battle suit, ignoring Wan Xinlong who had defeated his servant and instead approached Lin Shen, asking him directly.
"So what if I am, and what if I'm not?" Lin Shen replied indifferently.
"Well said, it doesn't matter whether you are or not," Charles sneered, "But there is one question that you must answer , are you an Ascender or a Nirvana Being?"
"Does it make any difference?" Lin Shen's tone remained nonchalant.
"Of course, if you are a Nirvana Being, I will have to battle you. If you are still an Ascender, I, Charles, am not so low as to bully the weak," Charles declared with pride.
Before Lin Shen could speak, he suddenly saw soone wearing a pig-headed helt approaching, who removed the helt to reveal a face with sharp features, so handso it seed almost demonic.
"Charles, he's mine. You're not yet worthy of challenging him. If you want to fight, I'll be your opponent," Kristin stated expressionlessly, standing in front of Charles.
"Kristin, others may fear you, but in my eyes, you are just a newcor Nirvana Being who has just undergone Nirvana," Charles scoffed.
"If you're not afraid, then let's do this," Kristin said as he walked towards the combat arena.
"Hmph, if you wish to make a fool of yourself, then I shall let you know that the world's geniuses are not just you, Kristin," angered by Kristin's attitude, Charles also headed towards the arena.
The onlookers found it very entertaining, having originally thought it was just a boring dialectic eting with the sa old tedious talk, but now there was a good show to watch.
Charles was a Prince of the Lion King Clan. Although there were many princes in the Lion King Clan, and thus the title itself wasn't worth that much, Charles's own reputation was indeed resounding. Known within the clan as the "Little Lion King," he was one of the princes with the greatest possibility of reaching for the crown.
His Life Base of the Sphinx was an extrely powerful Mutation, rare even among the royal bloodline of the Lion King Clan.
Kristin was strong, but he had just undergone Nirvana not long ago, experiencing it only once, while Charles was already a Nirvana Being of nine Nirvanas. Most people did not believe Kristin could take any advantage over Charles.
"What are you waiting for, summon your Life Base," Charles commanded, summoning his Sphinx Life Base and staring coldly at Kristin.
"No need," Kristin's expression remained stoic.
Charles's expression soured, "Kristin, I gave you so leeway on the Diman Star, don't be ungrateful."
"I've been ungrateful for so many years, are you only realizing this today?" Kristin responded lightly.
"You..." A cold glint flashed in Charles's eyes, "Very well, since you seek humiliation, you can't bla ."
With that, the Sphinx in front of Charles burst into golden flas, and its eyes shone with the Golden Divine Light, like two golden beams targeting Kristin.
"It looks like Charles is truly angered, opening with the Golden Demon Pupil Divine Light. That's a skill with lethal capability, one touch ans certain death, coupled with Charles's own Power of Nirvana, the Golden Lion Qi, the might of this strike, within the Nirvana Level, there are few who can withstand it head-on," Long Yue whispered.
