Chapter 688: Chapter 688: The Celestial Court Reerges
Lin Shen and Wei Wufu could only search around, hoping to find so clues.
However, after going back and forth several tis, they finally confird one fact, they hadn’t taken the wrong path, it was indeed the Golden Buddha Temple that had disappeared.
This made Lin Shen’s expression sowhat unpleasant, without the Golden Buddha Temple, they had no way of leaving the planet.
“That damn Little Star, I better not see it again, or I’ll strip its carapace off,” Lin Shen swore, as night had already fallen.
Thankfully, Lin Shen had the Sun-shooting Bow in his hand, and Wei had the Jade Decree.
Night descended, and pillars of light soared into the sky, transforming into countless ghostly apparitions in the sky.
As those apparitions faded and the world plunged back into darkness, aside from the faint white glow from the bow and decree, not a speck of light could be seen.
In that darkness, it was as if countless pairs of eyes were staring at them, and they could even faintly hear sounds resembling the breathing of wild beasts.
Lin Shen and his companion had to find a new way out, but up to now, Lin Shen still couldn’t understand why the Golden Buddha Temple had disappeared.
Even if the temple was gone, the pool there should still be there, and the ancient temple below even more so.
But all had vanished. Lin Shen checked many tis, even digging into the ground, but found nothing there.
In the chilling silence of the night, Lin Shen sporadically exchanged words with Wei Wufu, as the oppressive feeling of this forsaken place was just too much to bear.
When the two passed by a Mountain God Temple, they found it to be intact and it seed quite new, with light shining from inside.
Lin Shen and Wei Wufu exchanged a glance and with a silent agreent, they headed towards the Mountain God Temple. Pushing open the temple doors, they saw that the main hall’s doors were open, with the statue of the Mountain God sitting upright on the shrine.
In front of the shrine, on the offering table, there was a clay incense burner with three sticks of incense burning inside of it.
On either side of the incense burner, there were clay candle holders, on which candles burned, their light emanating from them.
“This Mountain God Temple wasn’t like this when we ca before, right?” Lin Shen asked Wei Wufu, who was beside him.
The statues they had seen before were all hanging from the beams, but this statue was properly set upon the shrine.
“No,” Wei Wufu affird Lin Shen’s mory.
“Forget it, the more gods one prays to, the more blessings one receives. Let’s pay our respects too. The Lord Mountain God is generous; let us stay here for the night and leave when dawn breaks.” Seeing that there was incense on the offering table, Lin Shen went over, lit the incense with the candle, and then offered three sticks to the Mountain God.
Inside the temple, the feeling of being watched faded away. Lin Shen planned to stay until daylight and then continue searching for a way out.
No sooner had Lin Shen placed the incense into the burner, than the eyes of the clay statue lit up, shining like two searchlights onto Lin Shen.
“Your power is not sufficient to ascend to the shrine, are you sure you wish to challenge for the divine position?” A mysterious voice echoed inside the temple.
“Not sure… not challenging…” Lin Shen imdiately shook his head.
“Too late…” A strange smile appeared at the corners of the Clay Fetus God Statue’s mouth.
Lin Shen had already rapidly moved back, but it was still too late; he felt a pain on his forehead, as though he’d been seared with a hot iron.
Instinctively reaching to touch it, he found nothing; his forehead was covered by a carapace, which was undamaged.
Boom!
When Lin Shen turned to look again, he saw that the clay statue had shattered on its own, fallen to the ground, and beco a pile of clay chunks.
Lin Shen didn’t know what was going on, he used the communicator to shine on his forehead, where the Carapace was as bright as new, and there was no sign of anything.
But Lin Shen still felt that sothing was not right, there was a clear discomfort on his forehead. He
retracted the Carapace and shone the communicator on his forehead again, and suddenly saw a blood-red mountain-shaped mark appear on his forehead.
“There really is sothing…” Lin Shen rubbed it, but the blood-red mountain-shaped mark seed to have seeped into his flesh, his skin was rubbed raw, but he couldn’t rub it off.
While puzzling over what exactly this thing was, he suddenly heard a voice like rolling thunder coming from the sky outside.
“The Supre Sovereign of Haotian Jinque, the Naturally Wondrous True Jade Emperor Miluo, commands that today the Celestial Court will reopen its temple, and all creatures of the world may ascend of their own accord, to attain a divine position in the Celestial Court…”
Lin Shen was startled and walked to the entrance of the main hall, looking up at the sky.
He saw in the night sky, a dream-like and fantastical White Jade Gate hanging amidst the void.
From in front of the empty White Jade Gate, jade steps erged out of nothing, extending all the way up to the dark planet, like a rainbow bridge connecting heaven and earth.
“Wei… did you catch the na that voice just ntioned?” Lin Shen asked Wei Wufu, recalling the na that the Jade Emperor had given him when he visited the Celestial Court that day.
“Clear.” Wei Wufu nodded.
“What was the na?” Lin Shen, delighted, hurriedly asked.
“Haotian… Jinque… Supre… Sovereign… Natural… Wondrous… Miluo… True… Jade… Emperor…” Wei Wufu stuttered the na out word by word.
After hearing the full na, Lin Shen was overjoyed. Although Wei Wufu spoke slowly, his mory was impressive; he had managed to rember such a complex na after hearing it just once.
Lin Shen had Wei Wufu repeat it several tis, and he silently morized the revered na of the Jade Emperor.
At this mont, within the darkness, a creature stepped onto the jade steps that were like a white rainbow.
Lin Shen looked closely and saw that the creature ascending the jade steps was a white jade fox with nine tails, its entire body crimson.
It was crystal clear, radiating a white light, its Power of Nirvana strong enough to be overflowing.
“So there are Nirvana Creatures on this planet?” Lin Shen was sowhat surprised.
No sooner had the Nine-tailed Jade Fox stepped onto the jade steps than flas suddenly ignited within its body, which seed to burn from inside rather than from an external force.
The Nine-tailed Jade Fox scrambled up the steps desperately, but sohow its pace was excruciatingly slow, as if it was carrying mountains on its back. After ascending just a dozen or so steps, its body had turned to black ash, and with a painful cry, it collapsed on the jade steps.
The Nine-tailed Jade Fox spat out a bead-like Life Base, emitting white light, attempting to extinguish the flas on its body.
However, as soon as the Life Base appeared, a bolt of lightning struck out of the void, shattering the bead-like Life Base.
Imdiately, the Nine-tailed Jade Fox coughed up fresh blood, struggling to get up but unable to stand, and in a flash, it was reduced to ash, dissipating into nothingness.
No sooner had the Nine-tailed White Fox perished than a giant dragon-like serpent, as large as a dragon, slithered up the jade steps.
As it moved along the White Jade Level, flas sprang up along its body, growing fiercer with each undulating movent.
Just as its erald-like green scales seed about to burn to charcoal, it too spat out its Life Base.
A green-colored Jade Sword shone with a green light flew out, but before it could have any effect, a lightning bolt born out of thin air shattered it.
With the Life Base destroyed, the Green-scaled Giant Serpent could no longer hold on. Its body twisted in the flas and within monts it too turned to ash.
