Chapter 1121: Chapter 1121: The Old Place?

It’s still dayti, and Lin Shen sees nothing but dilapidated temples. He cannot distinguish which Temple Star he is on, so he can only rely on whether the Golden Buddha Temple is present to make a judgnt.

When Lin Shen ca across the Dark Bird Temple, he beca entirely certain that this was indeed Temple Star. From there, he navigated with ease and quickly reached the location of the Golden Buddha Temple.

“So, this is the Temple Star that houses the Celestial Court…” Lin Shen entered a ruined temple to take a look around. Inside, the divine statues were suspended from the beams, just as he had seen before.

While it was still daylight, Lin Shen visited a few more temples, and the results were the sa: the divine statues within all hung from the rafters.

“This is bad. Previously, I had the Sun-shooting Bow for protection, but now it’s gone. What if sothing happens at night?” Lin Shen worried about potential dangers after nightfall.

After all, the only reason he could move freely on Temple Star before was because of that Sun-shooting Bow.

On second thought, he reassured himself that previous pavilion masters had been able to patrol here, so it shouldn’t be too dangerous. Surely, they didn’t have to face ghost gods head-on every ti they entered, right?

As he pondered this, Lin Shen realized sothing else: “No wonder Shi Zhongqing has such disdain for ghost gods and treats them with such little respect. He used to be the Star Constellation Master, so he must have patrolled here before. Seeing those ghost god statues all strung up in temples—even if he initially respected them—how could he not develop other thoughts over ti?”

“And it’s peculiar, isn’t it? The Ghost God Skill practiced in the Celestial Court, its visualization targets are actually the ghost gods of Temple Star. It’s quite unexpected.” Lin Shen still couldn’t wrap his head around why all these ghost gods resided on a single planet—and why, during the dayti, they were nothing but broken statues hanging from the rafters.

This left Lin Shen a bit disappointed. He had originally thought the ghost god domain might be where he would first et the Jade Emperor, but to his surprise, it turned out to be here. Now, hopes of finding the Guardian Spirit seed far-fetched.

When night finally fell, Lin Shen, who had felt a tinge of nervousness until then, noticed that the card he carried began emitting a soft immortal light, hazy like clouds or mist, enveloping his entire body.

With this strange power shielding him, Lin Shen no longer felt the unsettling sensation of being watched in the darkness. What puzzled him, however, was that neither the Celestial Court nor the Jade Level appeared in this place.

“This doesn’t make sense. At this ti, the Celestial Court gates and the Jade Level should have appeared. How could they not be here?” Lin Shen was deeply perplexed. “There’s no Golden Buddha Temple here, no Celestial Court gates either. Which Temple Star is this, then? Or… is this yet another Temple Star altogether?”

Lin Shen was thoroughly confused at this point and could hardly tell anything apart.

Quickly, however, Lin Shen recalled sothing. Taking out a space capsule, he opened it and gave it a shake, releasing a colorful shell snail about the size of a fist.

“You damned bastard! You finally rembered . I thought you’d leave trapped in there forever!” the Little Star barked the mont it erged.

It hadn’t even finished its tirade when it froze, realizing where it was. Instantly, its tone shifted in fear: “Y-you… why are you back here again…?”

“Little Star, is this the Secret God Star we visited last ti?” Lin Shen rembered how Little Star referred to Temple Star as Secret God Star.

“What else could it be? Do you think there are two Secret God Stars in this world?” Little Star furrowed its brows as it took another look around.

As it continued gazing, Little Star’s expression began to change. “Wait a minute… this doesn’t look like the Secret God Star we went to last ti. It actually feels like… it actually feels like…”

“Feels like what?” Lin Shen imdiately pressed.

“Feels like the Secret God Star the Ancient Realm King brought to… Didn’t I tell you? The Ancient Realm King once took to a Secret God Star, and from there we entered the Celestial Court. That Celestial Court was resplendent, with palatial towers and halls, surrounded by immortal qi, just like a heavenly paradise. It was nothing like the Celestial Court we’ve seen, which only has the Jade Bridge,” Little Star explained.

Pausing for a mont, it continued, “Later, I thought more about it. The Secret God Star the Ancient Realm King took to and the one we entered through the box transmission do feel a bit different.”

“What’s the difference?” Lin Shen asked.

“The Celestial Court gates we entered erged on their own. But the gates the Ancient Realm King took through—he summoned those himself.” Little Star gazed at the starry sky. “There are no Celestial Court gates appearing here. To , this place looks more like the Secret God Star the Ancient Realm King brought to.”

“How did he summon the Celestial Court gates?” Lin Shen’s curiosity was piqued.

From Little Star’s account, Lin Shen felt that the Celestial Court visited by the Ancient Realm King might very well be the sa one he had reached using the Sacrificial Robe.

If this place truly connected to that Celestial Court, then even without the Sacrificial Robe, he could perhaps obtain a Guardian Spirit here.

“How would I know? He never told how he summoned it. All I saw was that he took out a piece of paper, chanted sothing, and the paper ignited on its own. He then threw it into the night sky. Once the paper burned out, the Celestial Court gates appeared,” Little Star said.

“Did you notice if there were any words written on that paper?” Lin Shen mused aloud.

“I think there were so, but I didn’t get a good look at them. The paper burned too quickly, and what I saw was already incomplete,” Little Star replied after so thought.

“Aside from that, do you know anything else?” Lin Shen pressed further, unable to draw any conclusions.

Little Star racked its brain but eventually shook its head. “That’s really all I know. I’m just a tool spirit—what major secrets can you expect to uncover?”

“Forget it.” Lin Shen extended his hand, snatching Little Star back and tossing it back into the space capsule.

“You’re just using up and discarding !” Little Star scread in frustration as Lin Shen sealed it away again.

“Since I have no clear leads, I’ll just follow the task guide and complete the mission Shi Zhongqing assigned. Maybe I’ll learn sothing new along the way.” With that, Lin Shen made his way toward the nearby Mountain God Temple.

According to the task guide, he had to inspect each ghost god one by one to ensure they were still present.

Earlier, Lin Shen had wondered where to even begin such an inspection. He found it puzzling—how could he possibly check on every ghost god in such a vast land of ghost gods?

At last, he understood: it was a matter of inspecting these temples. As long as he confird the ghost gods within were still there, his task would be considered complete.

If he ca across a temple where the ghost god was absent, all he needed to do was make a note of it. He wasn’t required to take further action.

Lin Shen didn’t enter the Mountain God Temple. He only cast a glance from outside and then turned to leave.

Inside the Mountain God Temple, the divine statues were glowing brightly. There was no need to step inside to see. All he had to do was check for temples without light; in such cases, it was highly likely that the ghost god within was no longer there.
