Chapter 1044: Chapter 1044 dicine Person
Lin Shen originally thought that the Azure Sky Realm would be an ancient alchemy site, given that the na “Immortal Pill” carries an old-tiy feel, as if one could sll the faint scent of pills just by hearing the na.
But once he actually arrived at the Azure Sky Realm, Lin Shen found it to be completely different from what he had imagined.
Gigantic buildings, arranged neatly like tal boxes, each of them unimaginably large.
Inside were all kinds of machines and instrunts, fully automated workshops without a single person present, the entire process controlled and operated by Smart Brain.
Under the guidance of Qin Ziyun, the deputy captain of the Azure Sky Realm security team, the two of them patrolled the entire realm.
Lin Shen saw how the machines produced capsules and how those capsules were packaged.
The capsules produced in each workshop were different, and the transportation process was also fully automated, without any need for human involvent.
In the vast Azure Sky Realm, aside from the guards of the security departnt, one could scarcely see any other Divine Beings.
“Our task is to patrol and see if there are any anomalies occurring, we need not concern ourselves with anything else.” Qin Ziyun pointed to an area ahead as they walked and said, “That over there is the new drug developnt departnt. Unlike the production workshops here, you need to be more cautious there. Many areas there are off-limits to us. If you trespass, the Smart Brain will automatically activate the erasure system. Even an Upper God would struggle to escape the fate of being erased. So, you’d better rember clearly, or you might not even know how you died.”
As she spoke, Qin Ziyun led Lin Shen into the research departnt area, where the buildings were clearly not as regular and varied in appearance.
Qin Ziyun pointed out the functions of various buildings, as well as which areas were restricted.
In truth, it was not necessary for her to point out the boundaries of the restricted areas, as all the buildings here had warning signs forbidding entry. Virtually every visible building was off-limits.
“Actually, it’s easy to rember, aside from the few buildings over there, all other buildings are restricted areas,” Qin Ziyun pointed at a few buildings to the left and said.
“What is that place over there?” Lin Shen asked curiously.
“The Deford Breed Breeding Garden, drug-testing rooms, testing fields, and the like. We need to patrol and check whether there are any issues with the deford species inside. If a situation arises, we also need to report it promptly or assist in resolving the issue,” Qin Ziyun glanced at Lin Shen and continued, “But you’re just a Lower God. If anything serious occurs, you don’t need to handle it. Just report the situation imdiately.”
With that, Qin Ziyun led Lin Shen into the Deford Breed Breeding Garden. Here, there were crystalline containers resembling large glass fish tanks, many of which housed various types of deford species.
Many of the deford species were things Lin Shen had never even heard of.
“When patrolling, you must look carefully, inspect each of these pet boxes. If you find a problem with a pet box, or an anomaly with the deford species inside, you must report it imdiately,” Qin Ziyun said as they walked, informing Lin Shen of so details to keep an eye on.
Lin Shen took notes with a pen; he couldn’t possibly rember so many details with his mind alone.
Suddenly, Lin Shen saw a person, not a deford species, inside a pet box.
“Di Esi!” Lin Shen’s face showed surprise. The person imprisoned in the pet box was actually Di Esi.
Di Esi sat inside the pet box, which resembled a glass fish tank, and upon sensing soone looking, he opened his eyes and looked back at Lin Shen and Qin Ziyun, expressionless.
“You recognize him, right? This is the man from the Ancient Realm whom you stopped and failed to run away. He’s been brought over here for drug trials at the request of Lord Liu Siming,” Qin Ziyun knew about Lin Shen’s situation and thought it was the reason he was transferred here.
“Human testing for drugs?” Lin Shen feigned surprise.
“What’s so strange about that? Not to ntion those from the Ancient Realm, even within our Celestial Court, so Divine Beings who have violated the laws are sotis dragged here to undergo dicinal trials. Among them are no lack of Upper Gods.” Qin Ziyun seed to have long been desensitized to this, as she continued to lead Lin Shen forward.
Indeed, further ahead, they truly saw several Divine Beings who were acting as test subjects. Their conditions all seed quite dire, but it was unclear whether this was because they had already undergone drug trials, or for so other reason.
Lin Shen had originally thought he would see Wei Wufu here, but he didn’t, which left him feeling both disappointed and sowhat relieved.
After a tour, Qin Ziyun took Lin Shen to the laboratory, which was filled with individual rooms separated from each other. Through the transparent walls, one could see inside where the test subjects were kept, as instrunts recorded their reactions around the clock.
The place was bustling with people, though it was only a few dozen Divine Beings, but at least there were people to be seen.
Inside the rooms, the Deford Species exhibited various abnormalities; so had bodies that were corroding, while others had grown parts that obviously did not belong to them.
Most of the Deford Species were quietly lying down, but a fraction were frantically frenzied, even violently slamming their bodies against the walls.
As he watched, Lin Shen’s gaze suddenly beca piercing.
In one of the rooms, Lin Shen spotted a familiar figure.
The test subject in that room was a robust man, clearly Wei Wufu.
However, at this mont, Wei Wufu was curled up in a corner, eyes closed, hands balled together as if freezing, his body shivering uncontrollably.
Lin Shen saw that sprout-like growths had erged from Wei Wufu’s body, their roots embedded into his flesh, creating a sight horrifying to behold.
Lin Shen had to forcibly suppress the urge to rush forward and smash open the laboratory, helplessly watching Wei, feeling as if his heart was being shredded piece by piece.
Without Wei, Lin Shen would have long been dead; without Wei, there would be no today for him.
Even Wei’s entry into the Celestial Court might well have been because of Lin Shen.
Seeing Wei in this state, Lin Shen’s desire to kill was nearly uncontrollable.
“Is this a Divine Being or soone from the Ancient Realm?” Lin Shen asked, feigning curiosity.
“Soone from the Ancient Realm. They’re quite resilient. After consuming the Ginseng Pill, he’s managed to hold on for so long, which really is quite rare. The Lower and Middle Divine Beings who were previously used for Ginseng Pill trials didn’t last as long as he has,” Qin Ziyun said offhandedly.
“What is a Ginseng Pill?” Lin Shen asked, a smile on his face, as if he found the whole matter amusing.
“Making Pills is too much trouble, so our researchers ca up with a thod of naturally producing Pills, cultivating plants that can grow dicinal fruits. This type of plant is called the ginseng fruit tree, and over ti, people just began to call them Ginseng Fruit Trees. The natural Pills that grow from these trees are called Ginseng Pills.”
Qin Ziyun continued to explain: “However, in order for the Ginseng Fruit Trees to thrive, ordinary environnts won’t suffice. They must be cultivated using human flesh and blood. These people are also called dicine People. Only after the saplings have absorbed the energy from the flesh and blood and grown to a certain extent, can they be transplanted into the dicine Garden…”
“Can these dicine People be used repeatedly?” Lin Shen asked.
“A single Ginseng Fruit Tree would drain a dicine Person completely, there’s no possibility of reuse.” Qin Ziyun said nonchalantly.
