Upon receiving the ssage, Kane quickly proceeded to a building near the square, stopping on the 22nd floor. After using a series of thods, he entered an apartnt where, at that mont, only a housewife was present.
As Kane entered the room, he imdiately pulled out a tranquilizer gun, silencing the middle-aged woman. Kane then made his way to the window of the apartnt’s most expansive bedroom.
“I’ve reached the target location.” As Kane stopped by the window, he opened the cello case behind him and reported his situation to his teammates via the communicator.
The position of the building where Kane was located allowed him to have a clear view of nearly one-third of the square below. At present, Wu Hao was within Kane’s line of sight. However, due to the high foot traffic in the square, Kane was not confident he could succeed with a single attempt, so after assembling a custom sniper rifle in less than a minute, he kept his gaze fixed on the scope, waiting for the optimal mont to strike.
At this mont, Kane had not revealed any intent to kill, so Wu Hao had not sensed any danger. However, this situation did not last long. When Wu Hao and his sister reached an open area of the square, Kane, who had been observing Wu Hao’s every move through the high-powered scope, suddenly sensed the killing intent and decided to act.
“Attention, I’m going to take the shot. Be ready to assist at any ti,” Kane said into the communicator, his eyes locked on Wu Hao below, with his right index finger poised to pull the trigger.
Just as Kane revealed his intent to kill, Wu Hao, who had been nonchalantly going about in the square below, imdiately sensed the danger. It was not surprising that Wu Hao had such sharp perceptive abilities; his ntal perception could detect even the slightest details over a wide area.
Even though Wu Hao did not actively monitor his surroundings, his intuition would imdiately sense any danger. This ability is not unique to Wu Hao; even so others with extensive combat experience and nurous encounters with life-threatening situations have this premonition of danger. This could be considered a sixth sense.
However, due to Wu Hao’s exceptionally powerful ntal perception, he could accurately sense impending danger even without actively using his ntal abilities.
Thus, when Kane, hiding in the nearby high-rise, revealed his killing intent, Wu Hao beca aware of it.
“Xiaoxiao, stay where you are and don’t move!” Wu Hao frowned, pulling his sister and Li Xiaoyun behind him. He then activated his ntal perception, ‘seeing’ Kane’s every move and the source of the danger.
“There’s a sniper! Hmm, and two more accomplices nearby.” In an instant, Wu Hao was aware of Kane and his two accomplices’ positions and statuses.
At that mont, Kane’s right index finger also moved. With a muffled sound, a high-speed sniper bullet shot straight towards Wu Hao’s head.
If Kane had aid at soone other than Wu Hao, the precise and powerful sniper bullet would have been almost impossible to evade.
However, facing Wu Hao, who had ntal perception and telekinesis, the seemingly threatening bullet was evaded effortlessly. The bullet, which was ant to hit Wu Hao’s head, veered off and struck the stone slab in the square instead.
The originally hard stone slab was instantly pierced and cracked, sending fragnts flying.
“Damn it, I missed!” Seeing this through the scope, Kane’s face changed to one of frustration. Without hesitation, he imdiately pulled the trigger again. This ti, Wu Hao did not stay in place but quickly pulled his sister and Li Xiaoyun to a nearby cover.
Wu Hao’s reason for moving his sister and Li Xiaoyun was not to avoid Kane’s attack from afar but to evade another accomplice of Kane, who was approaching him.
Although this seemingly ordinary Asian man had not attacked Wu Hao yet, Wu Hao, who had already determined all sources of danger through his ntal perception in a split second, knew that this man had not acted yet mainly because he was still so distance away and was waiting for Kane to fail before taking action.
If Kane had succeeded in his attack, this man would not have moved but would have continued to blend into the crowd and leave quietly.
The events that had just transpired occurred almost instantaneously. After Kane’s first attack failed, he quickly fired three more shots. Several bullets flew towards Wu Hao, but under the influence of Wu Hao’s ntal perception and telekinesis, all four bullets hit the stone slab in the square instead.
The repeated loud impacts of the bullets hitting the stone slab and the flying fragnts caused the nearby pedestrians to beco agitated. If they had not reacted when Kane fired the first shot, their reaction to the subsequent explosions of the stone slabs should have been swift.
“Everyone, don’t run around. Stay down and don’t move.” Seeing the surrounding pedestrians beginning to panic, Wu Hao shouted loudly, disregarding the potential exposure of his strength.
With the pedestrians around him starting to panic, Wu Hao knew that while the distant sniper no longer posed a threat, another assassin was still hiding in the nearby crowd.
If this person took action, ensuring that his sister, Li Xiaoyun, and the surrounding panicking pedestrians were not accidentally hit by bullets would beco significantly more challenging.
Additionally, the sniper Kane, hidden in the nearby building, had begun to reload. After four consecutive missed shots, Kane should have left. However, having missed all four shots without hitting Wu Hao even once was sothing he found hard to accept.
