Death Valley.
On the outpost made of B2-level alloy, two six-man teams alternated shifts, not only to defend against outsiders entering the Death Valley but also to drive away the wandering monsters. They couldn’t slack for a mont, which made the defending teams complain incessantly.
"Eva, how long do you think our garrison duty will last this ti?" A middle-aged Sub-demon Race man in B6-level battle armor asked while munching on synthetic food, looking at another Sub-demon Race female captain who ca to relieve the shift. "This place is even harsher than the frontlines. Not having a decent place to rest is one thing, but there’s no chance for side earnings either; all we can do is watch those miners dig all day."
"Ralf, you should know it depends on those miners’ speed. The faster they finish, the sooner we can leave." The female captain Eva sat down beside him, also taking out a box of synthetic food to eat. "But this task is rather easy. Although there’s no chance to earn resources, once it’s completed, the Deputy Commander said each of us would get over a hundred kilograms of secret silver ore. When we return, we can trade it with factions lacking B3-level primordial ore for quite a few good things."
"Those factions are so stingy; we’d be lucky to trade for so blood and flesh of high-tier monsters." Ralf, also a captain, replied dismissively and continued, "I heard that Vice Commander Lucis killed two people before from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall. The Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall has Bone Forging Realm martial artists. Do you think that Bone Forging Realm martial artist will co directly for us? Even though Vice Commander Lucis said he’d personally handle it, if that Bone Forging Realm martial artist takes action, this is the wild. As long as our two cities don’t go to war, we’d die for nothing."
"Probably not. Previously, the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall claid they would establish a town on the Red Moon Mountain. This matter has drawn concern among the city’s higher-ups, who think that the new Bone Forging Realm from Chasing Light City completely disregards Ten Thousand Stars City. That’s why Igor and his people were specifically assigned to solve this issue." Eva thought for a mont and said, "Igor and his group are likely already on the way, and if things go poorly, that new Bone Forging Realm from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall might not have the energy to investigate the death of those two martial artists."
Ralf sighed slightly with relief upon hearing this.
Like Lucis, Igor was a top ten graduate from the Genius Training Camp, but Igor was a year ahead of Lucis in the hierarchy. His strength far surpassed the initial stage of Bone Forging Realm, reaching the middle stage. If he really led a team to destroy Red Moon Mountain, a new Bone Forging Realm would not be able to contend, let alone worry about two martial artists dying in the wild.
Just as Ralf was about to say sothing, a disturbance suddenly ca from the distant forest, catching the attention of everyone at the outpost.
"Captain Ralf! It looks like soone is running over from there!"
"That person’s attire seems to be from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall!"
The team mber observing with binoculars saw the rapidly moving figure in the forest. They quickly identified a person wearing the sa silver-grey long-sleeved coat as the martial artists killed by Lucis before.
"These people from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall ca quite fast." Ralf picked up his binoculars and confird it was indeed soone from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall.
"Captain, how should we handle that person?" a team mber asked, looking at the figure getting closer and closer.
"Warn her first, don’t allow her to get near us," Ralf ordered bluntly. "If she doesn’t heed the warning, then take her down."
Upon Ralf’s order, other team mbers at the outpost imdiately sprang into action, and one of the middle-tier martial artist team mbers shot an arrow directly at the approaching Xiaoyue.
The B4-level composite heavy bow, even at a kiloter’s distance from Xiaoyue, landed the arrow accurately in front of her, creating a small crater.
"Listen up, the person in front! This area has been taken over by Ten Thousand Stars City. No one is allowed to approach. Those who dare die!"
The loud voice transmitted by the gaphone in the Human Race language was clearly heard within one or two kiloters, but Xiaoyue showed no intention of stopping. Instead, she used the Cloud Mist Step Technique, increasing her speed significantly.
"Is this person from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall crazy?" Ralf watched Xiaoyue with increasing speed and was full of doubt, "Could it be that this person from the Black Obsidian Martial Arts Hall has discovered sothing?"
"Regardless of whether she has discovered anything, daring to step into this area ans only death!" Captain Eva, looking at Xiaoyue who was already within a kiloter of Death Valley, resolutely ordered, "Shoot!"
Just as mbers from the two teams picked up their B4-level composite heavy bows, a deafening roar ca from the forest behind Xiaoyue, drawing everyone’s attention at the outpost.
Suddenly, one monster after another burst out of the forest behind Xiaoyue.
Ten heads... twenty heads... a hundred heads...
In less than two seconds, more than four hundred monsters had sward in.
As these monsters drew closer, those at the outpost felt the ground vibrating from the monsters’ charging.
"Damn it! Where did so many monsters co from!" Ralf, looking at the nerve-wracking horde of monsters, was also shocked.
Clearing monsters on the front line did cause many fleeing monsters to gather around the city’s vicinity, but these monsters were usually in groups of three or five. This was also why Ten Thousand Stars City only assigned 200 mbers of the Defense Corps to guard Death Valley.
