The capital was truly impressive. It was clear that it was much larger than any other city William had ever visited.
Not only that, but it also had a far stronger line of defense. Guards and mages were stationed everywhere, ready to strike at anyone who dared cause trouble.
William knew he would need docunts to enter—but he didn’t have them yet. To get them, he had to visit a cabin outside the city, and that was where he headed.
The cabin was wooden, hidden deep within the vegetation. It wasn’t easy for William to find, but eventually he managed. Inside, soone was already waiting for him.
It was another necromancer, a mber of their sect. He handed William several docunts—the letter of appointnt as a new professor, and also his new identity.
"With this, you should be able to enter and do your work without any problems. Once you’re inside the academy, soone else will contact you," the necromancer said.
William was truly impressed by how far the sect’s reach extended. They had managed to get him a teaching position, new docunts, and even had soone inside the academy waiting for him.
"Thank you," William said.
He left the cabin with his new papers and made his way to the main gate, standing in line like everyone else—new arrivals and rchants bringing goods into the city.
The wait wasn’t long. Soon it was his turn.
"Docunts, please," the guard said in a mocking tone.
William showed his papers, including the docunt proving he was one of the academy’s new professors—the most prestigious academy in the city.
The guard’s attitude shifted imdiately when he saw it.
"Welco to the city, sir," the guard said. "Would you like to show you where the academy is?"
William didn’t know the capital, so he accepted the offer. "Of course, lead the way."
The guard seed excited to show William around the city. He was clearly eager to be speaking with soone who held such an important position in the capital.
A professor at the capital’s academy of magic was a very prestigious role. Few people ever had the ability—or the opportunity—to earn sothing like that.
What caught the guard’s attention most, however, was the fact that William had only one arm. It was sothing unusual, sothing that stood out imdiately.
"What happened to your arm?" the guard asked. "If you don’t mind asking."
"An accident with a magical beast, a long ti ago," William said. "I’d rather not go into the details."
"Of course, of course, no problem," the guard replied quickly.
That only made the guard even more impressed with William. Becoming a professor at the academy already ant soone was powerful. But managing to secure such a position with only one arm? That was truly remarkable.
The guard showed William a few important landmarks in the capital, but of course, his main focus was guiding him toward the magic academy where William would be working.
The academy was located in a separate part of the city. Not just anyone could get close to it.
It was also protected by a powerful barrier, ensuring that no duel or experint inside the academy would ever affect the city beyond its walls.
And speaking of the city, William couldn’t help but be impressed by the sheer number of people. The central market was full of mages selling rare items, exchanging knowledge, and trading in all kinds of things. For anyone aspiring to grow stronger, it was truly a unique place.
Eventually, William and the guard reached the part of the city where the academy stood. Beyond that point, the guard couldn’t continue.
"You can go ahead from here. They’ll probably ask for your docunts. Not even I’m allowed to go any further," the guard explained.
Smiling, William said, "Thanks for your help. I’ll stop by the gate for a drink with you when I’ve got so free ti."
That made the guard brighten up. "Of course—and good luck."
Now on his own, William made his way toward the magic academy. The stone-paved streets were empty here; no one was allowed too close to the school.
That was when a group of mages stepped forward to confront him. They were powerful—each sowhere around level 25 or 27—but still nothing that could intimidate William.
Not only was his level far higher, but his stats were boosted even more by his lineage and the power of being a summoned hero.
"Who are you?" one of the mages demanded. "This area is off-limits to commoners. You can only co here with authorization."
William slowly moved his hand toward his pocket. The mages imdiately reached for their staves, preparing for a fight—until William said calmly, "Relax. I’m just going to show you my docunts."
He handed over the docunts he had received. The guards read them carefully, and their expressions turned to surprise.
"You’re the new professor?" one of the mages asked. "I thought you were arriving tomorrow."
William smiled. "Turns out the trip was a bit faster than I expected. Is that a problem?"
"Of course not. Co with us—we’ll show you the way."
At first, everything seed to be going smoothly for him. As soon as William passed through the barrier protecting the academy, the sounds of chatter reached his ears.
The number of students inside was relatively high, though not as large as in other schools of the region. Here, only the wealthy—or the truly talented—were admitted.
The mont he stepped into the academy courtyard, every student nearby turned to look at him, curious about who on earth he was.
William had long, dark hair, and he had recently trimd his beard, which gave him a younger, fresher appearance. But what stood out most—what everyone noticed instantly—was that he had only one arm.
Before anything else, the academy guards escorted William to et with the current headmaster, the man in charge.
He would need to speak with him and present his docunts before doing anything else.
William walked to the headmaster’s office, stopped before the heavy door, and knocked. Then he waited for a reply.
