313 A race of red and flexibility
“Don’t worry girls. I had a plan to commission Byron Sunrise, a small cabin that I could store and summon at will. It seems I need to expedite the plan and have a backup place to live in if the worst happens.” Vincent said to reassure them.
“What about my parents?” Lilith asked.
“What about Tula and her family?” Ester asked.
“What about the children?” Sakura asked.
[Are you going to construct a portable village now? I guess we have beco too big to run away as we please.]
-... I can already see the butterflies coming out of my pockets.-
“I...”
“I will order more to be built if the situation indicates certain war.” Vincent caved in, yet he wanted to find a way to fit everyone in the cabin he was envisioning.
“So, are there any special classes other than the ones you ntioned?” Vincent tried to change the subject.
.....
“Well, there are various crafting classes similar to Sakura and the new maid you introduced nad Yula. But...” Lilith abruptly stopped and made a strange unhappy expression.
“...I don’t know much about crafting classes because it is taboo for a noble to learn and study about such a subject. We, won, are even taught embroidery work at a young age in fear of a noble awakening into a seamstress class. In other words, it is similar to a sin if a noble awakens a crafting class.”
Lilith was saying when Sakura interrupted, “That is ridiculous. crafting classes like us blacksmith are great too!”
“N-no. I-I don’t an like that.” Lilith flustered after watching Sakura get mad.
“Sakura, do nobles in your demon kingdom do blacksmithing?” Vincent asked.
“No... they order weapons and hunt monsters for fa and acknowledgnt.” Sakura answered... “I am sorry, Lilith, I forgot nobles don’t want to feel like us commoners.” She said after comprehending Vincent’s question.
“Yeah. It is silly, but many suffer injustice, and their parents will have to choose if their child will lower their standing in gatherings or treat their child as if they never existed to keep their heads up high. ” Lilith looked at Ester and continued, “Even a class people mock as useless ended up having a person becoming a king, and anyone who plotted against him was killed by his hands.”
“Do you an the king of Berlucia Kingdom?” Vincent asked.
“Yes. The third sigil mage to awaken advancent like Ester. Many say he was a tyrant and a womanizer even until his death. Now there is no queen, no king, no prince, nor princess. The old and wise sage is currently presiding over the kingdom and managing the noble families who have a child of the king.”
Lilith looked at Ester and lowered her head. “I apologize for what the nobles did to you, but please don’t hate at least. Every ti a child of the king was announced to be born because the king courted hundreds of won and decided who would have his child, any child born during that week would be...”
Lilith lowered her head again, “So say the children would be stolen, others say killed by noble families aiming for the throne. Hundreds of children would be reported missing that it beca a common occurrence.”
“Thank you for your concern, but this is the first ti hearing about this. ” Ester said.
“That... that is great. It ans you weren’t born when one of the probably fifty and sothing of the king’s children was born in the long life he lived by using priceless treasures.” Lilith sighed and felt relieved she didn’t make Ester recall an unhappy mory.
“Then... how young are the king’s children if the Berluica kingdom has no royal family leading it?” Vincent asked.
“That is all I know. I am sorry. ” Lilith apologized.
“It is fine, Lilith. I know you are trying your hardest to speak while all of us are looking at you. The mystery can be solved when we go there.” Vincent stated.
“Are we going to the Berlucia Kingdom? I don’t think there was soone from your world in that place.” Ester asked. Her womanly instincts told her it wasn’t going to be an ordinary journey.
“The fourth hero maybe, but it beca a secondary objective now that I live here with my girls.” Vincent frowned. “I will make the man who ruined Ester’s life pay. Now I am far stronger than the ti I promised you a good and happy life. Soon the authority of a noble will give more protection.” He announced a future objective.
“I will help too! Sister already helped with my revenge.” Lupa imdiately added her na to the combatants and seekers of revenge and bloodshed list.
“I can help if you’d like. But help with my revenge in return.” Sakura liked Ester, and so she decided to help.
“I don’t have a class for now, but I will co too. Everyone help more than I could dream about.” Lilith offered.
Ester froze for a mont as she was lost in thought. At this rate, both Ester and Kazumi started to fear the village might have a new river of blood in the future.
[Haven’t you killed enough people for now? Revenge is good but do it in moderation.]
[Or are you going to show everyone how you are an invader? Don’t repeat the steps of others if they fail. Do beco like the second hero Dominic Smith.]
Kazumi tried to persuade Vincent against such eye-catching revenge. She feared he might lose his temper again.
“No rush, no rush. I was a carefree and naive fourteen-year-old girl who wanted to beco like my mother. I spent most of my ti dancing alone after my friends stopped talking to when they saw dance. All because I could contort my body more than a normal person. But my mother told she could do as well, and it is not a sickness.” Ester tried to change the subject.
“Red hair, a body that contorts more than humanly possible, a body that never gets fat, and a pair of crimson eyes as if delicately embedded rubies. Ester, was your mother from the Central Desert Continent?” Lilith asked. Her face showed signs of interest, and her face slightly blushed.
“Yes.” Ester gave a short reply.
“Lucky. Your special bloodline can’t get fat, can move as you please, and many books talked about...” Lilith stopped and turned red. She thought of the many romance stories regarding crimson hair and eyes dancers she read excitedly.
“But I was called a freak because of how I look and contort.” Ester didn’t know if Lilith was mocking her or genuinely jealous of her.
“I... I am sorry if you misunderstood .” Lilith apologized imdiately.
“I read in a book how a mysterious group of people all have the sa hair and eye color. Their skin remains pale even in the harshest sun, and their body moves as they please. Many say they can not take their eyes off their dance as if it is enchanting.” Lilith said explained.
“Yeah. I couldn’t take my eyes off Ester the first ti I t her. She was dancing, and I wanted to know her na badly when I saw her dancing. She was breathtaking.” Vincent revealed. Then he added with a chuckle, “It beca hard to lie of being lost in the woods since it was my first day in this world, but I gained the ability to use Inspection and fainted afterward.”
“Is that why you kept saying my dancing was great? I love to dance and think it is fun. I never thought my mother ca from a place that loves to dance, and they are all like . I...” Ester smiled. “I feel better knowing I am not a freak.”
[So, hehe. Good excuse for almost drooling while looking at Ester dancing the first ti you t. People looking at you would feel embarrassed in your place by how hard you fell for Ester at first sight.]
[I rember what happened. Always. Hehe.]
Ester displayed a poker face, yet her heart skipped a beat. She never heard Vincent say it might have been love at first sight.
“Ahem... Lilith can continue, but aren’t we going to the academy for five years or sothing? I almost forgot I had to ask Vincent our future plans now that we are about to beco nobles.” Ester tried to change the subject.
Ester felt nervous when Lilith looked at her as the main character in a romance book. Sakura looked at her with an envious gaze. It was easy to deduce she wanted to dance like her. Ester imagined Kazumi was looking at her attentively as well.
“I was thinking of only staying for one academic year. Mainly to have Kazumi morize all the academy’s books. I also hope to et teachers of the magic subjects. We will help Ester, Iris, and Sakura with what we learn because mana is essential for growth.” Vincent looked at Lilith next and added, “Lilith, I hope your class will be mana-related. But don’t worry if you awaken into a crafting class. We will raise the middle finger to anyone who disrespects you.”
“Thank you. ” Lilith said. Her heart fluttered, and she raised a pleasing smile. She felt approached.
“But... not all of us can go. ” Lilith said after she recalled the rules she almost forgot. Lilith thought her fate as an awakened was never going to happen, possibly because of the curse or malnutrition and loss of hope.
“We can only take a servant and a familiar each. ” Lilith revealed terrible news, yet Vincent didn’t look bothered.
