I had no idea why Jenna honestly thought that soone like Bradon would genuinely want to enjoy a romantic dinner with . With how he had addressed , I knew imdiately that he had already seen my post on social dia. I wasn’t sure what kind of reaction I was going to get from him, but I had to say that getting so kind of reaction out of him was better than nothing at all.
Without waiting for my reply, Bradon reached for my wrist and began pulling behind him as he led into the dining room. The door closed firmly behind us, and I found myself all alone with Bradon in the large dining room. Suddenly, I felt so under and inappropriately dressed for the occasion of our supposedly romantic dinner. Jenna had gone out of her way to decorate both the dining table and the dining room with flowers and various other decorations that I guessed were supposed to add to the romantic atmosphere of the room.
“Take a seat...” he said coldly as he pulled a chair out for .
“Thanks...” I murmured while I felt more like a prisoner than his guest for dinner.
I realized that there was too much food on the table for the company of two and the air in the room felt unusually cold. My plan of having a peaceful and light dinner all by myself before heading to bed had been ruined in all aspects possible. The food didn’t look light, I wasn’t dining alone, and most of all, it was anything but peaceful with Bradon staring intensely at from across the table. I didn’t even want to et his eyes. He just felt like a dangerous leopard that was ready to pounce instantly on .
“Let’s eat,” he declared.
“Right...” I murmured as I picked up my fork.
I had lost all appetite by that point, and I cursed myself for not wearing proper clothes. Of all things, why am I wearing a night gown with just a thin robe wrapped around my body?
While pretending to be interested in the food on my plate, I stole a glance at Bradon. Surprisingly, he didn’t seem to be a in bad mood, and he seed to be enjoying the food. For a mont, a thought entered my mind that maybe it was possible for to have a peaceful dinner with Bradon. The next instant, I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to try to get on his good side all for the sake of achieving my goal.
“How was your day at work? Are thing less busy now for you?” I asked as I tried to make conversation with him.
Bradon’s hand paused in midair as his blue eyes glanced over directly at my face. Suddenly, it felt a little stifling and difficult to breathe; however, I wasn’t willing to snap under the pressure. Instead, I managed to show him a beautiful smile.
“Work is work,” Bradon muttered after a mont of staring at my face.
His attention returned to eating as he seed to pay no mind. My eyes narrowed slightly as I tried to keep my emotions in check. Internally, I was screaming at his careless attitude.
How dare he ignore this way?
What on earth is wrong with this guy?
Everything. Everything is wrong with this guy.
I almost had to recite so prayer of so sort to calm myself down. Over and over again, I reminded myself that this man was my ticket to the outside world and that I might just have the world at my feet if I could just get him on my side. I hated to admit it, but I wasn’t dumb enough not to acknowledge it.
Bradon is difficult...but he’s also extrely useful.
“Did you co ho early just to have dinner with ?” I asked while keeping my tone light.
“Of course. After what my wife posted on social dia for the world to see, how can I not co back here?” he replied with a smile.
The cold look in his eyes told that nothing about his sweet smile was sincere. It was too bad that I couldn’t bla him given the fact that my smile was anything but genuine as well.
“Oh, you saw that? Honestly, I wasn’t sure if you would...” I replied innocently.
“Really? I thought you posted that while hoping that I would see it,” he said without taking his eyes off my face.
“What do you think? Isn’t it great that everyone is paying so much attention to our relationship?” I asked with so excitent.
“I don’t have much need for people’s attention. You should stop what you’re doing or whatever it is that you’re trying to do,” he advised although I could feel that it was also a warning.
“Hmm...you make it sound like what I did was a cri of so sort. Honestly, what do you think I’m trying to do?" I asked as I stared back at him.
“I’m not sure what you’re hoping for, but those posts won’t get you outside,” he said without mincing his words.
“Our wedding was a blast, and everyone loved it. Then I simply disappeared, and we are never seen together again. Our relationship seems fake and fabricated. Then people start to question the legitimacy of the agreent between our families. Lastly, they start to develop insecurities and mistrust in my father’s pollical campaign and all that the Vulkan family had promised to offer to the people of this country as well. Seriously, doesn’t all of that just sound like great reasons for you to let outside?” I asked with widened eyes.
After my long lecture, Bradon simply stared at with an emotionless face and blank eyes. I pressed my lips into a thin line when I was reminded that the tall wall was now back in place, firm and solid. While resisting the urge to scream, stomp my feet, and pull my hair out, I forced my lips into a beautiful smile.
