I tried to tell myself that that added to the excitent, although I knew that it was just trying to be too optimistic about everything to stay sane.
“I know exactly how you can help . What about deciding that Diana has to go off on holiday or sothing for a couple of months?” I asked before I grinned at him.
Honestly, I didn’t think that he would agree to my outrageous idea, but it didn’t seem like it would hurt to give it a try.
“If I allowed that, then what are you going to do? Are you going to move in with the king at the palace?” He asked coldly.
Of course, that wasn’t what I had in mind. All I wanted was to stop acting as Diana for a while so that I could focus on being myself and helping out Desmond with his plan when it counted the most. However, I could already tell that my suggestion must have sounded very ridiculous to Bradon and that it must be impossible for him to agree to.
“What do you want to do?” I asked as I stared directly into his eyes.
Braddon stared back at without saying a word and I had to say that I wasn’t exactly surprised at his lack of response. It looked like he was about to give an answer but he ended up hesitating.
“Let rephrase that. I’ll stay here with you if you tell that you don’t want to move to the palace and that you really want to stay here with you,” I said before raising my eyebrows at him to see what he was going to say.
I admit that I was just teasing him a little and that I thought that there was no way that soone like Bradon could say sothing like that and definitely not to of all people. That was probably why I ended up saying that to him out of spite for refusing to help . Bradon’s eyes casted downwards for a brief mont as if he was considering his words or what he wanted to do next. That mont only lasted for a few seconds before his intense blue gaze t and held my gaze again. He took a firm step forward and closed the distance between us and then his arms were around my body and I found myself in his tight embrace.
"Stay, Leya. I want you to stay...here with ...” Bradon whispered close to my ear, slowly and yet very clearly.
What...is he saying?
The way his voice shook slightly and the way that his body trembled as he continued holding in his embrace made my heart clench so painfully in my chest. I closed my eyes as my arms moved naturally to return his embrace while I told myself that I was the one who brought this upon myself.
...
**The following day**
“What is this?” I asked as I stared down at the piece of paper that I held in my hand.
“It’s your daily schedule for next week,” Bradon replied bluntly.
For the life of , I could already tell that it was a schedule for what I had to do the following week without him having to tell so.
“That’s not what I’m asking. What I’m asking is what is this? And this? And this? And this?” I asked as I repeatedly pointed my finger at the various events plotted out on the schedule.
“Those are all the events that we need to attend together next week,” Bradon replied emotionlessly.
“That’s not the point! I know these are events that we’re sohow supposed to attend together next week, but my question is why are there so many of them?” I asked as I felt extrely irritated.
Of course, I knew that it was my responsibility to attend events as Diana along with Anthony for the sake of maintaining the image of our fake marriage; however, this was the first ti ever since our wedding that there were so many events lined up. On top of that, there was a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that told that Bradon wasn’t acting like his usual self.
‘Stay, Leya. I want you to stay...here with ...’
His words ca back to and made a shiver run through my body as I realized that Bradon had been acting kind of strange since that day. I drumd my fingers on the table as I stared at his face while my mind tried to figure out what exactly was off about him. He just wasn’t acting like himself, but I wasn’t quite sure what exactly made feel that way.
Was it sothing that he said just now? Or is it sothing that he did?
“I have no idea. This is the schedule that the team ca up with, and we have to stick to it,” Bradon replied matter-of-factly.
Since when was Bradon so keen on following the schedule set by the team?
I stared down at the schedule that I held in my hand again in pure disbelief. If we were to follow the schedule, then that would an that we would be attending a eting in the morning, having lunch together, and then attending a eting in the afternoon, before preparing to attend another event in the evening.
That pretty much ant that I will be spending the entire day from morning until evening with Bradon for every single day of the upcoming week, weekends included.
“Is this supposed to be a one-off thing? Or will the following week follow this pattern as well?” I asked as I raised an eyebrow upwards suspiciously.
“I have no idea. We’ll just have to wait and see,” Bradon replied with a careless shrug of his shoulders.
That was when I was certain that sothing was extrely off with the way that he was acting. Normally, I wasn’t the only one who didn’t look forward to attending public events together because it was a hassle to act as Diana. To be even more accurate, Bradon was even more against it than I was.
