Dawn seed to have just broken when I woke up. Surprisingly, Brandon was still sound asleep next to on the bed. I had expected that I would wake up alone to find that he had already left. While taking extra care not to wake him, I got out of bed despite not having a clear destination of where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do. I honestly felt very troubled although I didn’t want to admit it even to myself. My body felt heavy slightly from the strenuous exercise that Bradon had put through the night before, but there was also a sense of fatigue in my mind that probably ca from excessive worry and stress. I truly wish that I had slept soundly and deeply; however, the truth was that I had quite a disturbing dream last night.

Howrecker! Howrecker! Howrecker!

I could still hear the sound of their accusing chant even when I was sleeping. What bothered wasn’t their harsh words, but their hostile bloodlust that seed to threaten to tear into a hundred pieces or until they were satisfied.

I don’t owe any of them an apology...

I reminded myself firmly because it seed like the only way that I could move on. I found myself standing next to the window with my eyes on the blooming dahlia flowers in a pot that I had placed close to the window. Unexpectedly, just staring down at the flowers gave a sense of peace that I could never explain. I leaned down a little to get a closer look at the blooming flowers before my hand instinctively reached out to caress their soft petals.

With the sudden passing of the king and everyone being so busy, I had managed to sneak out back into the garden to save this pot of flowers that Bradon had gifted to . I wasn’t sure why I did that, but the next thing I knew I was already kneeling down next to the pot of flowers as I tried my best to fix it. After that, as if out of natural instinct to safeguard it, I brought it to my bedroom where I placed it on a counter close to the window where it could receive so sunlight from the outside. Since then I had taken the ti to water the plant while also instructing the maid to take extra care not to knock it over when they ca in to clean my bedroom.

Strangely enough, I had developed a kind of bond with the flower without knowing it. Perhaps it was out of guilt from losing the Dahlia flower pot that Anthony had given to in the past that motivated to take extra good care of the plant so that I wouldn’t repeat my old mistakes. Taking good care of the plant made grow attached to it, and whenever I felt stressed or a little down, I would feel imdiately better just by looking at it and watering it.

“Why did you wake up so early?”

I was going to turn around in the direction of the voice that had spoken to , but Bradon’s arms had already circled my body as he hugged from behind as he rested his chin on my shoulder. My body imdiately stiffened from slight shock at his unexpected and sudden appearance close to . I could feel the pressure of his head against mine as his arms tighten slightly around my body. I was suddenly so overwheld by his presence and the fact that he was so close to that my heart couldn’t help but beat faster in my chest. My eyes widened when I stared down at the dahlia flower pot right in front of us. I never told Brandon about saving the flower that he had given , nor did I ever get around to apologize and to him for my unreasonable behavior that day.

“You’re awake? Did I wake you?” I asked in an attempt to distract him.

Instead of replying to right away, Bradon was silent and that was when I figured out that it was already too late. He had already seen the dahlia flowers and I could sense him looking at it.

“These flowers look nice, so I decided to bring them inside...” I explained softly with the only excuse that I could co up with.

In fact, I didn’t even know why I was making excuses for myself when I hadn’t done anything wrong. The heat that rushed to my cheeks provided with the answer that I was suddenly feeling very flustered and embarrassed. It totally slipped my mind last night when he entered my bedroom that he would run into the dahlia flower.

“I’m glad that you’re taking care of it well...” he murmured close to my ear and I could feel the appreciation in his voice.

I was about to present him with another lot of excuses, but then I realized that there was sothing better that I could say to him. It felt like if I didn’t use this opportunity, I might not have another chance to say this to him.

“Thank you, you know, for what you did on my birthday and...thank you for giving these flowers,” I said in a low mutter while feeling thankful that he was hugging from behind so that he couldn’t see the expression that I had on my face.

“I’m glad that you like it,” Bradon replied simply.

I let out the breath that I hadn’t known that I had been holding as I felt my body relaxing in his arms. Suddenly, Bradon kissed the side of my neck out of the blue and I felt goosebumps form on my skin. I didn’t know what to say to him and so there was an awkward silence between us for a short mont before I turned around in his arms so that I could face him. Unexpectedly, Braden had a very stern look on his face as if he was concerned about sothing very major. I had a few guesses of what he might be thinking about, but I wasn’t sure what exactly was at the center of his attention.
