“I guess now that Miss Dahlia is back, we can expect to see the three of you together more often,” another reporter said with a smile.
With so effort, I managed to keep on smiling although I knew that what everybody was looking forward to was practically impossible. I should have realized that sothing like this was going to happen the mont that I agreed to play both my sister and myself at the sa ti .
“Are you looking forward to seeing your sister? It has been quite a while since you ca to this country," a reporter asked.
They had no idea how much I wanted to see my sister. Despite the complications that she had gotten in, I still felt a longing to see her in person. It had been quite a while since I had last heard from Diana, and I couldn’t stop myself from worrying about her while at the sa ti praying that she was doing well.
“Of course, I miss my sister, but it isn’t like we didn’t keep in touch. We are very close,” I said before showing them a confident smile.
If there was anything that I was confident about in this life, it was the close-knit bond that I had with my sister. Perhaps when things have settled down in one way or another, I will get to see Diana again.
“Is there anything that you have in mind that you would like to achieve now that you’re back in the country?” Another reporter asked and I thought slightly thankful at the positive tone of the question.
“I am not so sure. I miss being back ho, so I guess I might take so ti off to enjoy myself for now,” I replied quite honestly before smiling a little wistfully.
If only they knew what Desmond had planned, they would know that I wouldn’t have the ti to sit back and relax. A couple of questions later, I could feel Bradon’s eagerness to get away. I also felt like it was the ti for us to wrap up this interview because I felt like I had said more than a few words already.
“The king!”
“The king is here!”
“Oh my God...The king is here!”
A group of people started yelling and then everyone started yelling all at once when they spotted Desmond. I stared at Desmond’s figure in the distance before letting out a sigh. I should have known that he was going to turn up late because old habits really do die hard. It did cross my mind that Desmond may have bailed since he hadn’t arrived based on what we had agreed.
Everyone’s attention was understandably on the king and it seed like the press was getting exactly what they wanted. One unexpected turn after the next filled with so much suspense. Once Desmond ca closer, he raised his hand before calling out my na loudly as if he wanted to make it even more obvious that the king himself had co to welco back to the country.
“Dahlia!” Desmond called out my na in an overly friendly voice.
I raised a hand into the air and waved at him slightly as I smiled. Everyone started talking and asking questions all at once that I couldn’t make out what exactly they were saying. It no longer mattered what anyone thought about my arrival as everyone focused their attention on the king. The number of security guards that escorted the king felt intimidating but it also helped to put the situation under control.
Everyone’s shock was apparent at the unexpected arrival of the king. It hadn’t been so long since the coronation and everyone had expected the new king to be busy assuming his new position and its related duties. Despite that, it seed like he had ti to spare when it ca to welcoming back to the country. After all, he was the one who had issued the royal pardon. Perhaps it was because Desmond was present, that the Press began behaving in a more orderly way while the guards made sure that they remained a respectable distance away from their King.
“May we inquire about the reasons behind your sudden issue of the royal pardon for Miss Dahlia?” One of the reporters asked what was probably on everyone’s mind.
“I am not so comfortable with long distance relationships,” Desmond replied in short without any further explanations.
His ambiguous yet suggestive reply only stirred up the crowd even more than before as they began speculating about my relationship with their king. I had to admit that Desmond was seriously talented at guiding and manipulating people’s sentints and opinions. That felt like a very good skill that a king should have; however, I couldn’t help but think that there were better things that he could apply that skill to rather than building a hype around our non-existent romantic relationship.
“Are you here to personally welco Miss Dahlia back to the country?” Another reporter asked.
“Yes, it feels like the least that I can do for her is to at least welco her back. I have to say that she has been away from ho for far too long,” Desmond said before he smiled my way.
I felt my stomach churning as I felt everyone’s attention being redirected to . The three of us standing together must have looked quite strange given the fact that my sister wasn’t present. Had Diana been with us, the four of us together would have served as a very good reminder of the tis when we went out on events together as if we were two couples on a double date.
“Can we assu that you and Miss Dahlia are in a relationship then?” Another reporter quickly asked.
“You can take it any way you like,” Desmond replied casually before he smiled confidently.
The sound from the crowd only grew louder and I could feel their intense excitent at this sudden developnt while countless cara flashes went off as so many photos were taken of us. After Desmond seed satisfied that he had achieved his purpose, he signaled to the bodyguards to escort all of us away from the crowd.
