“I guess it does make sense. So, do you have a na in mind?” Diana asked with a slightly teasing look on her face.

I wondered at that mont if she had already caught on to what I was about to say.

“Well, Anthony suggested that the na ‘Leya’ might be a good choice,”I confessed as if I was telling her the secret that was ant to be taken all the way to my grave.

“Leya? I think it suits you perfectly. If you like it, then let’s use it,” Diana said before beaming a smile.

We both burst out laughing at the sa ti and I was reminded of the very precious bond that we shared. It felt like the na that Anthony had given was another precious birthday gift on top of the Dahlia flowers. I couldn’t have foreseen back then that just a few days later I would end up breaking the promise that I had made to Anthony.

...

I should have known that sothing was off when I returned to my bedroom to find that the flower that Anthony had given was not where it was supposed to be. It wasn’t unusual for other people to enter my bedroom such as the maids and my sister. However, this was the first ti that sothing without value had disappeared without a trace.

“Your mother asked to throw it away because it could bring in and spread germs into the bedroom,” one of the mates told after I asked around whether they had seen the flower pot.

“She told you to throw it away?” I asked in pure shock.

“Yes,” she replied before lowering her gaze apologetically.

“That’s fine, thank you for letting know,” I replied softly as I felt my entire face go numb.

I knew that it wasn’t the maid’s fault and that there was no point in putting the bla on her. While still in shock, I marched all the way to the living room where I knew that my mother was. I felt anger rising up inside of as I wondered if she had done this intentionally because Anthony had given that as a present.

“What have you done?” I demanded the mont that I spotted her.

“What are you talking about again?” My mother asked with a completely bored look on her face.

“The flowerpot that I had in my bedroom, why did you ask the maid to throw it away?” I asked as I glared at her.

At that very mont Diana happened to walk into the living room. One look at my face and she could probably tell that I wasn’t at all please.

“Look at what your sister is doing. She’s yelling at her poor mother over so nonsense flowerpot,” my mother said to Diana as she pointed a finger accusingly my way.

“It’s not just so flowerpot! Anthony gave that to for my birthday present at the party,” I retorted.

“Why would he give you sothing so worthless?” My mother said with a look of disgust on her face.

“Worthless?” I repeated her words as it felt like my anger was about to erupt from inside of .

How dare she say that his gift was worthless?

“Where is the flowerpot now?” Diana asked.

“It’s gone. I asked the maid to throw it out and that’s probably what they did,” my mother said before rolling her eyes upwards.

“You can’t just throw away my stuff!” I yelled loudly.

“What’s done, is done. What’s gone, is gone. It’s just a plant so get over it! It’s worthless and it doesn’t have any real value. I don’t even know why he would give you a weed for your birthday. Why won’t he give you precious things like diamonds, or so other gemstone would be more proper,” mother complained as if Anthony had done sothing wrong.

I don’t rember how long I cried in frustration when I found out that there was nothing that I could do to recover the plant. Diana and I spent hours looking in the garden and asking around in case the flowerpot had been placed sowhere within the vicinity of our property. In the end, I never managed to find that flowerpot anywhere, and I also never got around to confessing to Anthony that I had lost the precious present that he had given to .

...

**Back to the present** Bradon’s point of view

Dahlia stared at with anger smoldering in her eyes while I couldn’t co up with the words to reply to her accusing question. I should have known that it would have been too easy to please her simply by offering the sa present that I had given her before. Since Dahlia didn’t seem so impressed with all the expensive presents that I had offered her before this, whether it be the diamond rings that I made sure to purchase for her monthly, or the endless supplies of the latest fashion items that I made sure were delivered right to her closet, I had thought that trying a different thod might lead to a more successful result.

Apparently, I had forgotten that the main part of the joy of receiving a gift probably didn’t lie in the content of the gift itself but more in the identity of the giver of the gift. That might not be the case for everyone else, but it seed like the case for Dahlia. I didn’t know what kind of face to make when I realized how stupid of a mistake that I had just made. I should have realized that all those years ago Dahlia must have been overjoyed by receiving the flowers not because of the flowers themselves but because she thought that it was Anthony who had offered them to her.

It was clearly already too late by the ti that I had realized the mistake that I made, and it seed like there was nothing that I could do to and the situation. Feeling any regret over this wrong move also didn’t help to improve the situation. I have seen the furious version of Dahlia many tis before, but I had to say that this one was by far the worst that I have seen. It felt like I could feel her anger vibrating in the air around us as she continued staring at intensely while she waited for an explanation.
