**Many years before** Bradon’s point of view
I didn’t want to believe in the common stereotypical belief that rainy days would turn out to be bad days; however, that rainy day truly felt like one of the worst days of my life at that ti. Apparently there was an important party Alfred Vulkan hosted and Anthony needed to be in attendance as heir of the host family. The problem was that Anthony had caught a very bad cold, and not surprisingly I was the only one who could take his place and attend the party. At least, that was the short story that my father ca up with when he inford of what I needed to do.
What would have felt like nothing in the present was actually quite a difficult task for back in the days when I first started impersonating my younger brother. At that point I have only had a few successful experiences of taking my brother’s place and all of them were in private family gatherings or in pretty safe environnts. Our father made it very clear that I needed to take Anthony’s place whenever he couldn’t fulfill his duties and I could read between the lines that I also had to fulfill the roles that he deed inappropriate for Anthony to perform in person.
After attending a few family events and eting Diana and Dahlia without being caught, I had gained a reasonable amount of confidence that I could pass as my brother. However, attending a party where so many people would be present felt like taking it to another level in which I felt I wasn’t yet ready for.
“Your brother is sick. There’s nothing we can do, this party is very important and you need to take his place,” my father told emotionlessly.
I could tell that I had no choice and no say in the matter and arguing with him wasn’t going to solve any of our problems. That day my mother was over the top ecstatic that Alfred had stopped by our humble house to pick up. I could feel her eyes on us and I knew that I couldn’t turn my father down.
“Don’t bla if anything goes wrong,” I told him this passionlessly.
“Nothing will go wrong. You wouldn’t want to let your mother down, would you? Sooner or later, you’ll have to be prepared for sothing like this,” my father replied uncaringly.
Once again, the evil man didn’t hesitate to use my mother against . It felt like she was always being held hostage so that he could abuse and use however he saw fit. Although my mother appeared free, there were so many invisible chains tying her down.
Just like that I left my house along with my father, and after going through all the preparations, I arrived at the party in Anthony’s place. It was the first ti for to attend such an elaborate gathering. Even I could tell that every person present was soone important, and I had never felt so out of place. The stiff clothing that seed to mold themselves to my body felt extrely uncomfortable and only served to lower my self confidence.
Although my father had assured that all I needed to do was stick by his side and make passive comnts here and there as appropriate when people ca to talk to us, I couldn’t help but feel nervous. I fear that soone might catch on that I wasn’t the real Anthony. Every ti I felt soone’s gaze on and every ti that soone would approach us to start a conversation, I felt a troubling feeling dancing in my chest.
Halfway through the party no one seed to have caught on to the fact that I was taking my brother’s place. It gave so comfort to feel that perhaps I had succeeded in my mission and that gave so confidence.
The weather felt unusually hot and humid, which was unusual for this ti of year. The rain had left the ground slippery and the air heavy with moisture. The overall atmosphere added to my sense of dread and reminded of just how much I wish that I could be sowhere else. Looking around, I could see the faces of many people that I was forced to rember, not that I truly knew any of them. I stuck to my father’s side just as I was instructed and tried my best to act the part.
The party was held at one of the venues owned by the Vulkan family. The mansion was large, but what was larger was the garden and the forest surrounding the mansion. My father had gathered many prominent figures of society in order to celebrate the launch of one of his new business ventures.
As far as I could tell, business seems to be doing well for the Vulkan family and my father looked like he was in a very joyous mood. Overall, it was a very boring day that felt like a complete waste of ti. I couldn’t wait for it all to co to an end.
"Follow outside,” my father instructed before leading the way out into the gardens.
I followed him without saying a word. To my surprise, a huge crowd had already gathered outside by the ti that we arrived. It looked as if they were waiting for sothing exciting to happen. I was not at all inford of the agenda of the event and I had to say that I wasn’t the least interested.
My father ca to stand in front of the crowd before clapping his hands together in excitent as if he was about to present to the crowd sothing extrely amazing and impressive. All the faces in the crowd seed to blur into nothing when my eyes landed on a familiar face. The beautiful faces of the two twin sisters stood out from the crowd as if illuminated by a speical spotlight. As always, Diana had a perfect smile plastered on her lips and she always looked disgustingly perfect.
