Perhaps it was because such a dinner didn’t quite exist in my family that I appreciated the simple taste of ho cooked food more than ever. Bradon must have been quite happy to have Jenna cooking for him and taking care of him. The proof was that Jenna was still here with him.

“You’re an amazing cook. This is so tasty and you make everything look so easy,” I complinted her wholeheartedly.

“Oh, it’s not who’s an amazing cook. The recipes of everything that we made today were developed by Brenda,” Jenna said warmly.

“Brenda?” I murmured questioningly.

“Oh, she’s Master Bradon’s mother. She was an amazing cook when she was younger...” Jenna explained before she suddenly looked away.

It just occurred to that Bradon had never ntioned anything about his mother to . Just like the many things that I didn’t know about him, his mother was also a mystery to . Of course I knew that his father was the head of the Vulkan family but I didn’t even know who his mother was or whether or not she was still alive.

“I see. She must be a great cook and Bradon must be so lucky to get to enjoy her ho cooked als,” I said as I tried to remain positive.

The uncomfortable look that crossed Jenna’s face as she tried her hardest to return my smile told that we had just touched on a topic that should have been left alone. The more Jenna struggled, the more I wondered what Bradon’s mother is like and who she is. Given what Jenna had told , it seed like Bradon had a loving relationship with his mother and I felt quite relieved to learn of that.

“Yes...” Jenna replied in short.

“Let’s taste everything before the food gets cold,” Bella quickly jumped in to change the topic of conversation.

I thought that everything was good and done when we were done eating but I soon found out that Jenna had other things planned.

“Great. Now that we’ve been through that once together, it is your turn to cook,” Jenna announced as she looked directly at .

“?” I asked with confusion as I pointed a finger at myself.

“Of course. You did tell the master that you would be cooking for him,” Jenna reminded .

“I did but I thought that there’s more than enough food left to serve him when he gets back,” I replied blankly.

Did I misunderstand sothing just now?

“That’s the food that we cooked together, so it won’t do. There’s still plenty of ti before dinner ti, so you better get started now,” Jenna said before clapping her hands together.

“Umm...are you saying that I should cook again?” I asked to make sure that I understood correctly.

“Yes, I already showed you how and we even cooked together. Now it’s your turn to cook by yourself so that you can serve the master when he cos back,” Jenna said like it was supposed to be obvious.

Was this what we agreed?

“Well...” I murmured hesitantly.

“Surely, you can do it, right? The dishes are simple enough and you’ve been focused and paying attention all along,” Jenna said before she bead a smile at .

I wondered right then if I had done anything to get on her bad side or if Jenna had sohow sided with Bradon on this occasion of our argunt. The amount of effort, ti, sweat, and tears that I had to put in to make up with Bradon was sothing that I had never needed to do for any man before in my life.

This is crazy...

...

**A few hours later**

By the ti that I sohow managed to cook a few dishes by myself with minimal guidance from Jenna, I was over the moon convinced that the salary of all cooking staff needed to be raised by at least threefolds. I felt like a sweaty ss and my entire body slled like food. Just seeing the food and slling it made full without having to touch it.

“I have to say, it turned out much better than I had expected,” Jenna complinted with a few approving nods of her head.

“I’m not sure what you were expecting...but ok...” I murmured as I eyed the food that I had made.

“I think it looks delicious,” Bella said with a bright smile.

“It better be good. I almost killed myself in the process...” I muttered before rolling my eyes.

I made a silent promise to myself not to take up such a challenging task in the kitchen alone again. There better be a short cut way to a man’s heart through his stomach just like the saying or I’m going to explode from anger.

This better not be all for nothing...

“Don’t worry. I’m sure the master will love it. After all, his wife went through all the trouble of cooking for him,” Jenna said.

A nagging feeling at the back of my head told that things would never be that simple with Bradon.

“Let’s just hope that he turns up for dinner,” I muttered while reminding myself not to get my hopes up.

Despite the effort that I had just put in, I was quite certain that Bradon wouldn’t make it back ho in ti for dinner. There was no good reason for him to care about the work that I put in to fix up a al for him. That probably made sense because I was certain that nothing that I made could ever taste better than the regular food that the professional cooks made for him. I smiled a little to myself as I tried to look on the bright side of things. Although it was tiring, I did enjoy myself a little and got to spend ti with Jenna and Bella. If nothing else, it felt like a great way to kill ti.

Suddenly, the door to the kitchen opened and in ca a young maid who appeared very flustered and was panting hard to catch her breath. It was clear that she had just run here and that made wonder if sothing had happened.
