Chapter 1904: 545: The Light She Hides_4
Isla Astir sighed in relief, “I was almost scared to death just now!”
Eva Webster narrowed her eyes, “Isla, are you really that afraid of your aunt and uncle finding out about your affair with Mr. Thompson?”
“Just a tiny bit.” Isla Astir replied.
Mockery filled the depths of Eva Webster’s eyes.
She couldn’t stand Isla Astir’s hypocrisy.
If Isla Astir really was in a relationship with soone as important as Mandel Thompson, why would she fear her parents finding out?
Did she think she was fooling anyone?
Eva Webster sighed and continued, “Isla, you’re really quite blessed—making your own money is one thing, but to find such an excellent boyfriend too!”
Isla Astir turned to Eva Webster and smiled, “Second cousin, you don’t need to envy . You’ll et the right person for yourself one day too.”
“Hope so!” Eva Webster squinted her eyes, “Isla, when is your boyfriend Mr. Thompson planning to invite for a al?”
Isla Astir didn’t directly answer Eva Webster’s question, rely saying, “When the ti is right, are you worried we won’t invite you for a al?”
They would definitely have a al.
But not now.
Eva Webster nodded and didn’t ask any more questions.
There were so things she understood well enough on her own; there was no need to state them outright. Moreover, she was looking forward to seeing Isla Astir embarrassed and watching the drama unfold!
She wondered how Isla Astir would wrap this up!
With this thought, Eva Webster’s eyes narrowed, hinting at her calculative nature.
Inside the residential area.
Olivia Armstrong and William Astir were walking their dogs.
Each holding a little Corgi.
Olivia looked towards the direction of the gate, “William, don’t you think the person just now looked a lot like our daughter?”
William appeared incredulous, “From that distance, how could you tell it was your daughter?”
Olivia insisted, “The height and figure are very similar! And did you notice, the person who dropped her off was a man. Do you think our girl is dating soone?”
In fact, Olivia had long felt that Isla Astir had been acting a bit unusual lately, but she hadn’t found any concrete evidence.
William glanced at Olivia and said, “Why are you always so suspicious? Isla is definitely not dating. She’s busy making money all the ti, where would she find the ti for a relationship?”
Olivia also felt that Isla Astir definitely had no ti for dating, but the silhouette she had seen earlier really resembled Isla.
Olivia continued, “You really don’t think it looked like her?”
William shook his head, “No, it didn’t.”
Olivia narrowed her eyes, “Maybe I really saw it wrong then.”
As she was getting older, her eyesight was indeed getting worse.
Olivia added, “Eva is still at our place, shall we go back?”
William replied, “You go back first; I’ll walk the dogs a bit longer.”
He needed to give the pooch so happiness.
After all, he normally walked the dog for an hour.
Tonight, they had only been out for less than half an hour.
Olivia turned to William and said, “Then I’ll go back first.”
“Go ahead.” William nodded, taking the dog’s leash from Olivia.
Olivia turned around and headed ho.
When she arrived, Isla Astir had already showered, changed into her loungewear, and was sitting on the sofa watching TV and eating fruit.
Capital City’s winter was warm with heating, and just wearing loungewear indoors was perfectly comfortable.
Not too cold, not too hot.
Seeing Isla, Olivia was surprised, “Isla, when did you get back?”
“About half an hour ago,” Isla replied.
Half an hour ago?
Olivia narrowed her eyes—didn’t that coincide with the ti she saw soone who resembled Isla at the gate?
Olivia asked further, “How did you get back?”
“I took an Uber,” Isla replied.
Uber?
Olivia Armstrong was stunned. Had she really misunderstood?
Was Isla Astir not dating anyone at all?
Isla Astir looked back at her mother, then added, “Dad didn’t co back with you?”
Olivia shook her head, “He’s still walking the dog! Says it’s to give the dog a sense of happiness.”
When they first got the dog, Olivia thought with William Astir’s personality, it was probably just a three-day craze, but now after such a long ti, William was still enthusiastic, walking the dog every morning at 6:30 for an hour, and keen on getting the dog various little outfits.
Olivia saw that there was no one in the living room and went on to ask: “Where’s your second cousin?”
Isla replied: “In the bedroom.”
Eva Webster found the living room too noisy, so she went to the bedroom to video call with classmates.
Olivia glanced in the direction of the bedroom and ultimately decided not to say anything.
She had so misgivings about Eva Webster, but thinking about her own family only having this one niece, she reasoned that this is what life was all about – so things are better off overlooked.
There was no need to make things too stiff.
Olivia sat down next to Isla, who handed her mother the fruit plate, “Mom, try this year’s cherries, they’re especially sweet, much better than last year’s.”
Olivia took one and continued, “Isla, have you been busy lately?”
“‘There is Wine Today’ is currently being adapted, so I’m not too busy,” Isla answered.
Upon hearing this, Olivia narrowed her eyes. If she wasn’t busy, then why was Isla always going out?
Was she really not going out on dates?
Olivia followed up with, “Is the school about to break for holidays?”
Isla was cunning, knowing her mother was beating around the bush, she nonchalantly replied: “It’s almost the holidays, so there’s a lot going on lately, I need to report in frequently.”
So Isla has been going out recently because she had to go to school.
Olivia nodded, not thinking much of it any further.
A mont later, Olivia added, “I’ll go wash so fruit and ask your second cousin if she wants so.”
Isla smiled, “You don’t have to bother, Mom, I’ve already taken a plate to her when I was eating.”
“That’s good then.”
Mandel Thompson just got back ho and saw Mary Perryne sitting on the living room couch watching the news.
Hearing footsteps, she imdiately turned around, “Brandon’s back.”
“Mom.”
Mary Perryne continued, “Brandon, I’ve been watching the news all evening, haven’t seen anything about the Linta Tribe in Frica. Is your sister not in any trouble, is she?”
Although Mandel was also worried about Viola, he couldn’t show any signs of panic in front of his mother.
With this in mind, Mandel smiled, “Mom, don’t worry, my little sister will definitely be okay. She’s not even afraid of the zombie virus!”
Hearing this, Mary sighed, “That’s exactly what I’m worried about. When Viola went to the Zombie Building alone back then, she didn’t consult us…” She feared that Viola was hiding sothing from her again, especially since Viola wouldn’t be able to contact the family for the next half month.
Sotis no news is the worst news.
No sign of concern showed on Mandel’s face, “Mom, no, little sister promised us, if anything happens, she will definitely discuss it with us.”
“Your sister always likes to rush to the front line no matter what, sotis I’d rather she’d be more ordinary, even more ordinary…”
Extre intelligence can bring grief.
Compared to fa and power, she preferred her daughter to be healthy and safe.
—
Today is Viola’s fifth day in the Laboratory.
At this mont.
The mutated virus was rampaging through Viola.
She clearly felt her physical strength being drained bit by bit by the virus, and her bodily organs were being damaged to varying degrees.
Brayden and Beacher ca to see Viola with Sixth Senior Brother.
“Master.”
Hearing the voice at the door, Viola looked up, just about to say sothing, when she felt a wave of dizziness in her head, her vision went dark, and her consciousness blurred.
Bang!
Viola’s entire body collapsed onto the lab bench.
“Master!” Brayden and Beacher imdiately rushed over, helping Viola up, “Are you alright?”
