*Leo*

The mont I opened the door so late at night, I knew it was a bad idea.

Dangerous, I reminded myself as I stood there half-naked when this beautiful woman threw herself into my arms. But I couldn’t stop myself.

The distress on her face - the silent begging in her eyes not to leave but hold her close was too much for to say no. Her body was so soft, fitting in my arms like two puzzle pieces just like I always imagined they would.

I didn’t realize how much my body had been craving this until now - how much I had needed this just as she did and I knew it was impossible to push her away now. Impossible to be the gentleman I knew I should be.

Her eyes glittered with unshed tears in the moonlight, her voice trembling with fear and distress as she told exactly what had happened. My anger and bitterness against her idiotic Ex were washed away as she gripped my arms tightly, unconsciously pulling herself closer.

My ego sang as she held onto like I was the shelter she’d chosen for her storm, to keep her safe when she felt so vulnerable. I was grateful she had thought of first, that she had co to when she was falling apart so I could put her back together again.

But it took everything I had in not to get carried away.

Every instinct in my body scread that I needed to dry her tears, comfort her, and make sure she knew that she was safe here with . I cupped her cheeks gently, pulling her eyes to et mine and my heart ward at the amount of trust I saw there.

As much as she wanted to keep at arm’s length, I knew she liked just as much as I did her. She trusted and cared for , and in such a tender mont, all the warnings faded away as I focused on just her.

But I was trapped within her eyes - so wide and gorgeous like universes all unto their own. Like a mystery I couldn’t solve and the answers I craved could only be found at the bottom of the well that was her eyes.

And then her lips were on mine.

She tasted like cherries. Her lips were as soft as a cloud, radiating a gentle warmth. I could still taste the salt from her tears, a subtle wetness running down her cheeks.

Her eyes fluttered closed, eyelashes like butterfly wings fluttering across my skin and my eyes naturally closed as well as my arm traveled from the middle of her back to around her waist, pulling her body tightly against mine.

I couldn’t think of anything but of how sweet she tasted - of how much I wanted more.

I deepened the kiss before I knew what had happened, moving our lips soft and slowly together as I tilted her chin up, giving better access. I ran my tongue along the bottom of her lip, feeling the imprint her teeth had left upon the plush skin earlier, and ran across it again like I was trying to soothe an imaginary pain.

She held onto tightly, just as lost as I was as she parted her lips, allowing to slip in and explore. But as much as I might’ve imagined such an innocent, sweet girl, I was pleasantly surprised at how dominant she beca.

She slipped her tongue out to et mine, as wild and unyielding as an open fla- so warm and so dangerous as she led deeper into sothing we both knew was a bad idea.

But I just couldn’t bring myself to care.

Until she pulled away.

As hot as the heat of her presence, it was like ice hitting my skin as she disappeared all too quickly. My hands hung limply in the air as I opened my eyes in a flash, drunk on desire and her taste. I barely managed to stop myself from chasing after her but as soon as I saw the look in her eyes, I sobered imdiately.

Her face blanched in distress, her eyes wide with both shock and fear, the loathing hit hard as I realized it was she was now afraid of.

“I- I’m sorry,” She mumbled, eyes wide like she was a criminal about to face charges on the stand and before I could reach out to stop her, to follow her and reassure her, she turned on her heel and practically sprinted down the hall away from .

Leaving standing there like an idiot.

I stepped forward, a part of intending to chase after her, to pull her back into my arms and tell her that I wanted this- that I liked her so goddamn much and it wasn’t a mistake but...

The gentleman in had returned to the surface. I clenched my fist at my sides, knowing the best thing I could do was nothing.

She didn’t want to chase after her - so I let her go.

I shut my door, the halls as silent as ever but sohow more stifling than they’d ever been. Loneliness was the only abstract concept I feared and after having that warmth, even for only a fraction of a section, it felt all the more bitter to return to the cold.

I grabbed a t-shirt from my closet, throwing it over my head as I headed back to bed. But I wasn’t going to go back to sleep - no, instead I snatched up my phone, focusing on the one thing I could control right now.

I promised Bianca to handle it. So I would.

“Hello?”

Franky answered after a couple of rings and I was a bit proud of him when he replied in that groggy I-was-obviously-sleeping voice. It ant he was getting enough rest at night now.

“That Bastard, Matteo contacted Bianca. She was shaken up about it and I didn’t get much details but she said it was from the number she blocked. The sa number Al fed us. I’ll be at the warehouse in thirty. Be there and we handle this once and for all.”

“Ugh,” was all Franky replied before hanging up but I knew he would have my back on this. I finished getting dressed, pulling on my shoes as I headed out. I paused at the top of the staircase, part of wanting to go check on Bianca but after considering it, I knew it would be the wrong move right now.

The look of fear in her eyes as she stared at , backing away flashed in my mind.

I shook my head. Let her have so space. We could talk later. I also needed to get my thoughts straight anyway. I already felt clearer as soon as I stepped outside in the nightti air- colder and brisk than the heat of the dayti and I wasted no ti getting in my car and pulling out onto the roads.

The warehouse was empty at this ti of night- except for the routine guards we had set up discreetly. If it wasn’t for the two guards out front, you’d expect the entire building to be empty but in reality, there were more than twelve pairs of eyes on the whole building.

Franky was already there up in the surveillance area when I walked in and he threw a burner phone as soon as I walked in which I caught in one hand.

I opened it up, searching for the number, which I found right away.

“How long do I keep him talking?” I asked, knowing the drill as Franky sat at the laptops. Tracking a phone GPS wasn’t as easy as it looked but Franky was the master for a reason.

“One minute should be long enough,” Franky responded, typing away. I waited for his signal and then called, putting the phone on speaker but close enough he could hear and alone.

It picked up after the third ring.

“Who is this?” A dark, gravelly voice asked but it was intimidating like they clearly thought it was. I snorted at the voice, already pegging the guy out.

“I’m assuming this is Matteo, yes? I have an important ssage for you.”

I waited for the answer, tapping my fingers on the table as Franky’s computer whirled to find the location.

“Who the fuck is this?” Matteo repeated, raising his voice to sound more threatening but in reality, I was intimidated in the slightest. I knew this kind of asshole. The ones who thought they were tough shit but just used gangs and violence as ways to cope with their exceedingly low ego.

Trash.

“Answering a question with a question isn’t very polite, Matteo,” I said calmly back. I crossed my legs, letting the anger in my voice through as I said, “Clearly you haven’t learned your lesson yet if even Alessandro couldn’t beat so sense into your stupid head.”

And just like I thought, as soon as I ntioned Alessandro’s na, he went berserk.

“You work for that piece of shit? I’ll find you and put a gun to your fucking head! Do you think you can control ? You have no idea who I work for! I’ll kill you and your boss and all your fucking friends, you hear !”

I rolled my eyes. “We warned you to stay away from Bianca once, Matteo. This is your second warning. Leave the states now.”

“Ha!” He snorted on the phone, sounding like the douchebag he truly was. “You think I’ll let you take my girl from ? She’s mine, stronzo! I’ll fucking put her down like the bitch she is before I let so pompinara like you have her!”

Vulgarity, aside, I could see Franky give the thumbs up that he got the information before I could explode from anger and I reigned it in with a deep breath, already thinking of the fate this bastard would have.

“You deserve every piece of hell coming your way,” I said coldly and ominously before cutting off the phone.

“He’s at a seedy hotel about ten minutes from here,” Franky inford , cautiously as he saw the dark look on my face.

“Of course he is,” I snorted, glaring at the phone deeply like I could reach through and put a bullet into the head of the person I was just talking to.

Death was too kind for a bastard like him.

I’d fucking make him suffer.

Within minutes, I slamd my foot against the pathetic excuse of a door at the stupid seedy motel he’d chosen. The door crumbled under my foot, the top half breaking apart and slamming against the wall.

“What the fuck?” Matteo barely had ti to scream, rising from his bed before I had his throat in my grip, pushing him onto the mattress and pinning him so he couldn’t call for help. Franky checked the room for anyone else but it was empty.

I sneered down at the struggling man in my hand, his face still lined with dark bruises and nose crooked from his last beating. Yet he still dared to follow Bianca here.

“You should’ve taken the first warning,” I hissed into his ear, enjoying it a little bit as I saw the fear flash across his face as Franky handed over my gun. I released his mouth, only long enough to shove the barrel of the gun straight into there.

I gave him a cold look as Matteo went straight frozen, trembling uncontrollably as he choked on the gun’s barrel.

“You fucked up by ssing with Bianca and now you will pay for it,” I hissed, nodding to Franky who slipped out a syringe and quickly injected Matteo. He convulsed, trying to escape and buck off but with the gun in his mouth, there was nothing he could do.

It took seconds before the sedative worked and Matteo unwillingly fell unconscious. I sneered at him, finally letting him go before pulling back. I wiped my hands off the greasy asshole, making a note to throw away this gun as Franky looked around and located a large stash of drugs.

“Jackpot,” he said, pulling it out and placing it next to Matteo.

I took out a small handgun, planting on him unconscious body as well.

Now, this was over.

I fixed the door before we left, leaving the rest of the scene to Franky who would be calling the police and monitoring to make sure they arrested the asshole. After all, a man ranting and raving about shooting up the streets, clearly a madman on drugs was a public threat who needed to be taken in.

Matteo would never be getting out and never get near Bianca again.

I was exhausted by the ti I arrived back ho- the ti nearing three in the morning and I still hadn’t slept a wink. It was with it though.

But as exhausted as I was, my feet had brought straight to Bianca’s room, not my own. I hesitated outside the door, going back and forth on whether to wait until morning to tell her, especially since we’d left things in such an awkward place but...

She’d co to in tears, utterly rattled by that bastard. She deserved to know he was taken care of.

I knew she would be asleep so I gently slipped inside, and there she was, huddled under the covers, only her hair poking out. My heart thudded as I silently crept over to her side, gently placing a hand on her back as I shook her awake.

“Bianca...Bianca,” I called out and she finally awoke, jerking to sit up with wide bleary eyes.

“Leo?” She mumbled, rubbing the corner of her eyes before she glanced at with confusion. She was only in a tank top and the straps fell across her shoulder, revealing her bare skin and I pointedly stared into her face, giving her what I hoped was a reassuring smile.

“Sorry to wake you,” I said softly, “But I wanted you to know as soon as possible. Matteo’s been taken care of, Bianca. You’re safe now.”
