Zhang Xiaoshan watched the villagers’ reactions, secretly delighted.
He had done this on purpose, displaying his wealth to make them envious. Only this way, could he achieve his goal.
"Fair enough."
He said, grinning at the crowd.
"Haven’t I given you all a chance to get rich?"
"All you need to do is send away the won you’ve brought ho. Set them free, then you can collaborate with in farming. Renting land to could earn you ten thousand yuan per acre per year, plus you could work on my farm for double inco. Earning a couple of hundred thousand a year would be easy."
"But, but if we send the won away, who will continue our lineage, who will have our children?"
"With all that money, are you still worried about not finding a legitimately married wife? Once White Dragon Village becos prosperous, girls from all over would be racing to co here, wouldn’t they?"
"Hahaha."
Many villagers laughed along heartily with Zhang Xiaoshan.
However, there were dissenting voices in the crowd.
The leader among them was Liu Qingchun, the cousin of the deceased Liu Qinghong.
Liu Qingchun was an old bachelor who had only managed to bring ho a young girl at the age of thirty-seven and had no children yet.
Asking him to send the woman away was practically asking for his life.
He stood up and opposed right away.
"Don’t be fooled, everyone. Zhang Xiaoshan is just deceiving you. He’s putting on a show."
"Think about it, our village has more than three hundred households, an average of ten acres of land each, that sums to more than three thousand acres. At ten thousand per acre per year, that’s thirty million. Zhang Xiaoshan keeps saying he’d pay upfront for a quarter, that’s almost ten million right there."
"Ten million—admittedly, Zhang Xiaoshan has made so money now, but can he really pull out ten million all at once?"
"Could he really have that much money?"
"Yeah, ten million in cash!"
Now the villagers started to worry too.
Wanshan County was a poor county. Ten million was an astronomical figure—unattainable for a private individual, and even the county’s finances would struggle to co up with it on short notice.
But they underestimated Zhang Xiaoshan.
While it would be difficult to earn ten million, Zhang Xiaoshan had just dealt with Sanhe Gang’s Yang Qing and got his hands on a lot of money from those gang leaders; ten million wouldn’t be a problem for him.
He looked at Liu Qingchun, who was causing a stir in the crowd, and sneered.
"How do you know I don’t have ten million?"
"Heh, but you did remind ."
He intentionally spoke loud enough for everyone to hear,
"What Liu Qingchun said reminded that I can’t possibly rent so much land. What if I run out of money? So, don’t be late, if you want to collaborate, co to my house early tomorrow. If you’re late, I might not have enough money left to rent land."
"Alright, it’s getting late. I’m going ho to sleep."
Zhang Xiaoshan walked away nonchalantly, hands clasped behind his back.
"What?"
"What should we do now?"
The villagers at the ferry crossing looked at each other, clearly at a loss.
The night passed.
"Dang dang dang..."
The next day, as dawn was just breaking around five or six in the morning,
soone was knocking at Zhang Xiaoshan’s yard gate.
At this ti, Zhang Xiaoshan was curled up in bed with Yu Xiuxiu.
As a reward for Zhang Xiaoshan’s capability, last night Yu Xiuxiu had busied herself taking good care of him, and now she was so exhausted she could hardly open her eyes.
"Who is it, Shan, go check it out, but don’t bring anyone into my room, alright?"
Yu Xiuxiu said, her eyes still closed, drowsily.
"Is that her?"
Utilizing Divine Thought, Zhang Xiaoshan sensed the identity of the visitor and was sowhat surprised.
