"Is there anything else?"
Tao Qian asked with a sense of grievance.
Zhang Xiaoshan stated bluntly.
"You’re right, I do think you’re not a very kind person, but, the promises I make count. How about this, around twelve o’clock tomorrow night, I will take you away."
"You, you’re really willing to take away?"
Upon hearing Zhang Xiaoshan’s words, Tao Qian was ecstatic and incredulous.
Zhang Xiaoshan nodded and said.
"Of course, a promise made by a man is as good as gold. Tomorrow at midnight, bring Hu Qiaoling, and we’ll et at the entrance of the village."
The reason Zhang Xiaoshan wanted to send Tao Qian away wasn’t just because he kept his word; another reason was that Tao Qian and her group’s presence in the village was an unsettling factor. Having them leave would actually reduce his own risk.
"I knew you were a good person, and good people get good karma. You will surely live a long life."
"Don’t worry, I’ll go find Hu Qiaoling in a mont, and tomorrow night we’ll et at the village entrance."

Tao Qian was so moved that she cried.
Zhang Xiaoshan looked at Tao Qian and smiled.
"Is this how you thank ?"

Just then, soone urgently knocked on the door to the infirmary.
Zhang Xiaoshan and Tao Qian both tensed up.
"What should we do?"
"Could it be Wu Biao looking for ?"
Tao Qian beca instantly flustered.
Zhang Xiaoshan had already agreed to take her away the next day. If Wu Biao discovered any clues now, he would surely keep a close eye on her, making escape virtually impossible.

The person standing outside was Ge Xiue.

Zhang Xiaoshan stood at the doorway, blocking Ge Xiue from entering.
But Ge Xiue had more pressing concerns at the mont, her attention wasn’t on the inside of the infirmary, and she said with a pale, panic-stricken face.

Zhang Xiaoshan said unconcernedly.
"What big issue can happen in our little White Dragon Village? Is the sky going to fall?"

"Wu Damming, he, he’s gone, and on top of that, the village’s money for building the school is gone too."
"What?"
Shocked by the news, Zhang Xiaoshan was stunned.
"How could this happen?"
"He’s gone, Wu Damming is dead? He’s dead? What about the money? What in the world happened?"
Ge Xiue, with a mournful face and tears streaming down, began to explain to Zhang Xiaoshan with a sense of victimhood.
"I don’t know whether Wu Damming is dead or alive, but the money was definitely taken by him."
"Today, a construction team ca to settle their paynt and said that the checks I issued couldn’t be cashed at the bank. That’s when I discovered that my finance seal was missing, and so was the village committee’s official seal. There was no sign of burglary inside the village office, and the doors were intact. Other than , only Wu Damming had the keys."
"I called the bank, and upon inquiring, I found out that all the money from our village’s account had been withdrawn three days ago."
"The only one who could have taken the money from our village, other than Wu Damming himself, was nobody else. But when I tried to call Wu Damming, it was unreachable, and before I ca here, I even went to Wu Damming’s house, but Jia Lanhua also said she hadn’t seen Wu Damming for several days."
"I am the village’s financial officer, and such a big incident has happened—I can’t shirk my responsibility. I, I, what should I do?"
Ge Xiue cried bitterly.
There was now over six million in cash missing from the village’s public account; even if there were a thousand reasons, as the chief accountant, she could not avoid bla.
