"Listen to , things aren’t as you saw them," Zhang Xiaoshan hastily explained.

But Yu Xiuxiu was too indifferent to listen.

"Forget it, what’s there to explain? At your age, you should indeed be considering marriage. Mr. Xu is pretty and about your age, and you two seem to get along well. If you could marry her, I, as your sister-in-law, should be happy."

When Yu Xiuxiu spoke, her tone was indifferent and seemingly calm, but her heart was aching.

Even though she had prepared herself to go back to a normal relationship with Zhang Xiaoshan after coming down from the mountain and had thought about helping Zhang Xiaoshan find a new bride, sothing genuine had happened between them—especially that first drop of blood, which is utterly indelible for a woman. Seeing Zhang Xiaoshan and Xu Jing together, Yu Xiuxiu couldn’t help feeling upset.

Zhang Xiaoshan keenly sensed the shift in Yu Xiuxiu’s emotions and beca even more anxious.

"Sister, what are you talking about? Mr. Xu and I barely know each other; our relationship isn’t close at all, let alone thinking about marriage. Don’t overthink it."

"You’re this familiar after eting just once? It seems you really clicked, which is a good thing. Now that I see you’re fine, I’ll head ho," she said.

With that, Yu Xiuxiu turned and walked away.

Zhang Xiaoshan reached out to grab her.

But Yu Xiuxiu walked away decisively, seeming uninterested in hearing any more explanations from Zhang Xiaoshan.

"Sigh."

Zhang Xiaoshan shook his head helplessly and gave up chasing.

He knew Yu Xiuxiu’s temperant; at this mont, while she was angry, whatever he said would be useless.

Besides, he and Yu Xiuxiu were technically aunt and nephew by marriage, and he struggled with how to honestly express his feelings to her.

Watching Yu Xiuxiu walk away, Zhang Xiaoshan decided not to go ho either. For now, it seed best for both of them to have so space to calmly think about where their relationship was headed and how to handle their ambiguous situation.

Zhang Xiaoshan headed straight for the health room.

He planned to stay in the health room for a while, giving himself and Yu Xiuxiu space to think clearly about their next steps and how to handle their unclear, ambiguous relationship.

"Little Shan."

Just as he was nearing the health room, Zhang Xiaoshan heard soone calling out to him.

Zhang Xiaoshan turned to look.

There he saw a figure standing on the path nearby, gracefully poised.

In a light blue dress, looking like a freshly blossod, stunning mountain flower.

"Sister Xiue?"

The person was Ge Xiue, the accountant.

Clearly, Ge Xiue had made an effort to dress up, her face adorned with light makeup and her lips touched with lipstick, which was quite different from her usual self and made her look particularly tasteful.

"What, you don’t recognize your sister anymore?"

Ge Xiue walked up to Zhang Xiaoshan, voiced a complaint, and gave him a reproachful look.

That look was filled with seductive charm, causing Zhang Xiaoshan’s heart to tremble involuntarily.

"Sister Xiue, is sothing the matter?"

Zhang Xiaoshan felt sowhat out of control, yet in his heart, he had always regarded Ge Xiue as his elder sister.

He had already hurt his sister-in-law Yu Xiuxiu, was he now going to do sothing to his elder sister Ge Xiue as well?

Although Ge Xiue’s relationship with her husband was terrible, barely seeing him a few tis a year, she was still a married woman. If he were to...

It would be better to keep his distance.

Perhaps sensing a hint of deliberate distance in Zhang Xiaoshan’s tone, Ge Xiue imdiately beca displeased.

Her tone beca even more plaintive.

"Why, do you disdain your sister Xiue for being old, not as pretty or young as Mr. Xu?"

"Then, you should go," she said.

As she spoke, tears started to well up in Ge Xiue’s eyes.
