At that mont, Yu Xiuxiu’s eyes had not yet fully recovered. Venturing into the mountains now was tantamount to walking towards certain death. Moreover, the back mountains were teeming with venomous snakes and wild beasts, and there Yu Xiuxiu was, a fragile woman venturing into the mountains alone...
Thinking of the consequences, Zhang Xiaoshan felt his scalp tingle. He grabbed a shotgun and hurriedly ran towards the back mountains.
Soon after, he entered the back mountains.
Just as he arrived, Zhang Xiaoshan noticed so traces where weeds had been cut by a sickle.
He quickly followed the traces.
Before long, he was two or three kiloters into the mountains.
"What is that?"
Suddenly, a splash of blood caught Zhang Xiaoshan’s eye.
A green bracelet had fallen among the grass.
"Is this, is this my sister-in-law’s bracelet?"
Upon seeing the bracelet, Zhang Xiaoshan imdiately panicked.
The fact that the bracelet was dropped here, along with the presence of blood, ant his sister-in-law might have t with trouble.
"Help, help!"
At this critical mont, while Zhang Xiaoshan was extrely anxious, a cry for help suddenly resounded through the once silent woods.
Instantly, Zhang Xiaoshan recognized it as his sister-in-law Yu Xiuxiu’s voice.
He ran franticly towards the source of the sound like a madman.
Yu Xiuxiu was now his only family; he certainly could not let his sister-in-law co to harm.
The cries for help grew closer and feebler, clearly signaling that Yu Xiuxiu was at a life or death mont.
...
On a sudden clearing in the woods, a young and beautiful woman was cornered by several ferocious wolves at the edge.
One step forward was a hundred-foot abyss, one step back was the fierce and nacing wolves.
At that mont, Yu Xiuxiu’s already thin clothes were even further torn by the wolves, exposing large patches of her pale skin, on which there were several bloody marks.
She kept waving the sickle in her hand, trying to drive away the wolves.
But the wolves had stumbled upon a delicious al, how could they possibly back off.
"Howl."
One wolf lunged at Yu Xiuxiu first. Just as she swung her sickle, another wolf rushed towards her.
The wolf slamd into Yu Xiuxiu’s chest, sending her flying, and she dropped her sickle.
Before she could get up, another wolf leaped, opening its bloody jaws wide, trying to bite through her throat in one strike.
These beasts only knew the taste of human flesh, how could they possibly show any rcy?
"It’s over."
"Little Shan, farewell."
Seeing the wolf’s gaping jaws, Yu Xiuxiu was utterly despondent, already resigning herself to an inevitable death.
At this mont, her mind was filled with images of Zhang Xiaoshan.
The two had spent every day together, and especially this ti when Zhang Xiaoshan had helped her regain her sight, her heart had unknowingly developed a special affection for him.
"Bang."
Just then, a loud sound echoed through the woods, startling the nearby animals into scattering.
The resigned Yu Xiuxiu opened her eyes in confusion.
The scene before her startled her.
The wolf that had leapt at her, baring its bloody jaws, now lay half a ter away from her, with several gaping holes in its body. Fresh blood gushed from its belly, and although the wolf struggled to get up, it couldn’t completely stand before it fell again, then beca motionless.
"Howl, howl..."
Seeing one of their pack mbers mysteriously killed, the rest of the wolves backed off several steps in panic, each looking around in terror.
"What’s happening?"
Yu Xiuxiu also looked around bewilderedly.
Not far away, the bushes rustled, and a man with his shotgun reloaded ca walking out of the woods.
"Little Shan!"
Seeing this man, Yu Xiuxiu, as the eldest sister-in-law, suddenly felt like she saw her dependent, almost like a child crying out in a call.
