No One’s POV

Vivien took a slow step back, her boots crunching against the dry leaves on the ground.

She quickly looked around, trying to find any escape route, but her back was almost touching the rough bark of the massive tree. Her mind raced as she calculated her chances. She only had a small tactical dagger hidden behind her arm, while these three massive n had a silenced gun, a heavy iron pipe, and a baseball bat. The odds were completely against her.

Suddenly, the n stopped walking. They stood just a few feet away, scanning her up and down with disgusting slow looks.

The man holding the baseball bat let out a low whistle, a nasty grin spreading across his face. "Hey, look at her," he said, turning his head slightly toward the others. "Wouldn’t it be a total waste if we just kill such a beauty right away? I an, look at those eyes. Why not enjoy ourselves first, boys?"

The other two n paused, looking at each other before twisted smiles broke out on their faces.

"Yeah, you’re right," the man with the iron pipe agreed, chuckling darkly as he shifted his weight. "Boss Alia just wants her dead. She didn’t say we couldn’t have a little fun before dumping the body in the woods. Nobody is around to save her anyway."

The leader of the group, the one holding the silenced pistol, lowered his weapon. He tucked the gun casually into his waistband, feeling completely confident because Vivien looked small and helpless against them. He took a slow, step forward, walking right up to where Vivien was cornered against the tree.

He leaned in close, his foul breath hitting her face as he looked down at her. "Give those plumpy lips, beauty~" he purred, a disgusting grin stretching across his face.

He stepped even closer, trapping her body between his large fra and the hard tree trunk. He didn’t even check her hands, believing she was too terrified to move. He slowly lowered his head, closing his eyes as he tilted his face down to force a kiss on her.

Instead of panicking, Vivien’s eyes glinted. Every single muscle in her body went tight, ready to act.

"Just give it to willingly, and maybe we’ll make your death quick," the leader murmured, grinning as his face ca inches away from hers.

Vivien looked directly into his eyes and gave a small submissive nod.

Seeing her nod and seemingly give up, the other two n standing in the back let out loud cheers and laughed. "Look at that, she knows when she’s beaten!" one of them shouted, clapping his hands together.

But just as the leader completely lowered his guard and closed the distance to kiss her, Vivien’s hand moved before they could notice.

The submissive look vanished from her face instantly. With a swift motion, she brought her hand out from behind her arm and drove the sharp dagger straight into the side of his neck.

Thick, hot blood sprayed instantly from the wound, splashing across Vivien’s cheek and the side of her mask.

The leader’s eyes went wide with shock. A choked gurgling sound escaped his throat as he clutched at his neck, stumbling backward. The two n in the back instantly stopped grinning. Their laughter died right in their throats, replaced by pure rage.

"You little bitch!" one of them roared, imdiately pulling out his weapon.

The bleeding leader tried to reach for the gun in his waistband, his hands slippery with his own blood. But Vivien didn’t give him the chance. Moving with pure instinct, she stepped forward, yanked the blade across his throat to finish the job, and snatched the silenced pistol straight out of his failing grip as he collapsed to the dirt.

Vivien quickly raised the gun, aiming it at the remaining two targets. But before she could even pull the trigger, the man with the baseball bat swung with speed and precision.

CRACK!

The wooden bat slamd violently against her wrists. The brutal impact sent a jolt of pain down her arm, causing her fingers to instantly spasm open. The gun flew out of her hand, landing sowhere in the dark grass.

"Hiss!" Vivien hissed in pain, cradling her bruised wrists against her chest.

These guys weren’t just random street thugs- they were well-trained hitn. They recovered from their shock instantly, moving in perfect coordination. Before she could recover her balance, the second man lunged forward, swinging his heavy iron pipe straight into her side.

THUD!

The blow caught her right in the ribs. The force knocked the wind completely out of her lungs, sending her crashing hard onto the cold damp ground. Vivien rolled onto her back, her breathing coming in ragged, painful gasps. Her vision blurred for a second, the blood from her head wound mixing with the sweat on her face.

Am I really going to die here? For real this ti? she thought, looking up at the two towering figures approaching her.

But taking a deep, shaky breath, she clenched her jaw. No. I am not giving up yet!

The man with the baseball bat stepped up first, raising it high to crush her skull. Using the very last bit of her strength, Vivien slid her leg across the dirt in a sweeping motion, kicking the back of his knee.

With a loud curse, the man lost his balance and crashed heavily to the ground. Vivien didn’t waste a single second. She scrambled over his falling body, snatched the iron pipe that had rolled near her, and swung it with all her might into the face of the second man standing over her.

SMACK!

The man stumbled backward, groaning in pain as he clutched his broken nose. Vivien scrambled to her feet, turning around to see the first man trying to push himself back up. With a fierce yell, she brought the iron pipe down hard onto his shoulder, pinning him back to the ground.

Breathing heavily, she spotted the dropped pistol glinting in the grass just a few feet away. She turned and sprinted toward it, her hand reaching out.

BANG!

A loud gunshot rang out through the quiet woods.

"Ah!" Vivien cursed loudly as sudden pain exploded through her body, sending her tumbling face-first into the dirt.

She gasped for air, her body trembling violently as she looked back. The man with the broken nose was standing there, his face covered in blood, holding a backup revolver he had hidden in his boot. He had fired, and the bullet had torn clean through her left foot.

A sharp pain radiated from her foot, making it completely impossible for her to stand up. She lay there in the mud, clutching her bleeding leg, the dropped gun still just inches out of her reach as the bleeding hitman slowly walked toward her, aiming the barrel right at her head.

Dragging her bleeding body across the dirt, Vivien ignored the blinding pain in her left foot. Her fingers scraped through the grass until they finally wrapped around the cold, tal handle of the dropped pistol. With the last ounce of her strength, she rolled onto her back and pointed the weapon directly at the two approaching n.

The hitn paused for a fraction of a second, but then they threw their heads back and laughed loudly.

"Look at you," the one with the broken nose mocked, wiping blood from his face. "You can’t even stand up, girl. Your hands are shaking so hard you couldn’t hit us if you tried. Give it up."

Vivien’s lips parted into a bloody smile under her mask. Her eyes weren’t locked onto them. She was looking past their shoulders, aiming directly at the leaky fuel tank of the black car idling right behind them.

"I am not going down alone," she muttered through clenched teeth.

BANG!

She pulled the trigger. The bullet sparked against the tal of the car. A split second later, a loud sound shook the entire forest. A loud explosion ripped through the night.

A mile down the road, Dominic was driving at a full speed when he noticed a bright glowing light from distance. A split second later, the rumbling sound of the explosion rattled his dashboard.

His heart violently seized. For the first ti in his absolute life, Dominic Valente felt a suffocating wave of fear. His chest tightened with pure anxiety.

He slamd on the brakes. He threw the door open and sprinted blindly into the trees. Ahead of him, the wounds were lightning up in a raging fire.

The sight of the roaring flas hit his mind like an electric shock. A deeply buried horrific mory flashed before his eyes- the sll of smoke, the sound of crackling furniture and the ghost sensation of holding her fragile, limp body in his arms while the world burned around them.

"No... no!" Dominic muttered anxiously, his voice cracking with a raw panic. He completely ignored his own safety, running directly toward the blinding fire and the suffocating smoke.

"Boss! Stop! It’s too dangerous!" his head security guards yelled, bursting into the clearing right behind him, frantically trying to grab his shoulders to pull him back from the heat. But Dominic violently threw them off, his eyes scanning the burning wreckage with absolute desperation.

On the cold dirt ground, just a few yards away from the heat of the flas, Vivien lay completely still.

Her vision was incredibly hazy, the world spinning in a blur. Through the ringing in her ears, she could faintly hear the chaotic shouting of n and the thuds of soone running desperately toward her. She could feel the presence of soone approaching, a dark figure tearing through the smoke.

She tried to blink, tried to raise her hand to see who it was- Dominic? An angel? An enemy?

But before her eyes could focus, the exhaustion and blood loss finally won. The darkness closed in completely, and her eyes gave up, her head slumping sideways into the dirt as her consciousness slipped away.
