Chapter 189
Uwah!!!
I woke up with a yell. I didn’t know why but an ominous feeling washed over when I was asleep. As if I had seen a nightmare. I couldn’t quite rember what the nightmare was about but I was sure it was very bad for .
However, I forced myself to calm down. Whatever it was, I was sure I could handle it with my power. Now I was one of the strongest people on this planet, of course, not in terms of power, but as a tank, my END allowed to do so.
So even if I were to fight so of the dangerous people, my defense would still be top-notch and allow to survive a good scale of attack. But I wasn’t planning on just talking punches but giving back as well but for that, I needed to increase my level and raise my other stats. The first stat I needed to focus on was my perception.
I realized it was quite easy to sneak up on . Not by those fools I fought, no. But because of my stalker. Although she used an artifact, I couldn’t sense her until she was in a certain range.
I couldn’t help but imagine what would happen if I were to face a powerful enemy that could hide its presence to a great degree. The ti to act might not co until it was too late so without further ado, I decided to invest all my APs in my PER stat.
[PER: 660]
My senses tingled, and my skin felt like soone was prickling it slightly with sharp needles. Not only that, but all of my senses, including my ears and eyes felt enhanced.
Perception was the only stat that didn’t co into any category. Nor did it co into noncombat stats nor in physical stats. So this was my only skill that was lacking behind greatly. But now it was around my strength and agility so it was okay.
Finished with everything, I mounted Sairal once again because even though I was feeling refreshed after that short nap, I didn’t want to needlessly consu any of my power and waste stamina or MP.
My SP was fully replenished so I had a hidden card in case of ergencies. Besides, the sooner I returned to the academy, the lesser of a suspect would I be. I wasn’t an idiot. I knew that although Sirius would have covered for , so people trying to get rid of would do everything in their power to make the culprit of this situation.
The main problem in this case was the church. The others weren’t too much of a trouble but the church held a considerable amount of influence over the Cortum empire. The emperor wasn’t everything in the empire, there were many others I needed to watch out for. After all, if the emperor was the only sole power, he wouldn’t have been betrayed and killed so ti in the future.
All in all, the list of my enemies was not short but it wasn’t too long either. It just comprised of a few individuals that could move the world if they ca together. So it was like quality than quantity.
My main concern was the empire and the church. The fact that I was the set emperor next made sure that I would be an eyesore to Harvey, my supposed father but in reality, Adrian’s uncle.
He knows that even if I wasn’t the one to win the ga of succession, I would still need to die for him or his children to take the throne. And the church, that sought independence from the empire would of course support a person who wasn’t a stubborn child in the skin of an old man like the emperor.
In short, what they sought was a puppet, and Harvey or his children were the easiest puppets to exist.
All in all, I had a couple of people I needed to watch out for and make sure I didn’t clash with them anyti soon. Because with the skills I have in my arsenal, I would be able to survive, but not win.
These guys weren’t anything like the gangsters I faced. These guys have been properly educated in tactics and strategies and they have experience and techniques under their belts that make them dangerous enough.
I sighed and took off to the academy. Showing up with Sairal wouldn’t be a good idea because Sairal was capable of setting off the explosion in the Bellator that I did in the end.
That would be like screaming to everyone that it was so I will send Sairal back to the mountain behind Bellator. Even though investigations about the strange phenonon that occurred during the fourth step of the Penta enhancent array would be ongoing, Sairal can easily hide on the gigantic mountain and not co into contact with anyone.
We arrived at the mountain and I made sure to maneuver in a way that wouldn’t get us caught.
Once back on the mountain, I left the mountain and made my way to the Lux villa. Once again, I had to hide from many people while arriving so I wouldn’t create an alibi. Once I was at the villa, I found it empty from the outside, there was no one outside so I went in only to be surprised to find a few individuals in the living room as if waiting for .
"Ah, I see you’re back, brother." A golden-haired man greeted with a smile, well, a young man really. I knew him, I had plans to beat the crap out of him so ti ago. The second crown candidate and Harvey’s son from his second wife, Wesley.
"And seeing you so friendly makes want to vomit," I said with an equally friendly smile but for so reason, that made his smile disappear. I wonder why?
"Always a jokester." He said but he wasn’t smiling anymore. He had taken it to the heart.
"Yeah, well, that I am. Anyway, what are you doing here? Where is the butler? What’s going outside?" I threw a barrage of questions, acting genuinely confused by everything.
It was just an attempt to build a perfect case, it didn’t make innocent of the charges and they knew it as Wesley said, "Unfortunately, none of your questions can be answered at the mont."
He then pointed at a man with black hair and a scar on his left eye and said, "You may already be familiar but let introduce him anyway. This is head professor Coleman Mayer."
"Never seen him before," I said as I began to walk away but I was held by my arm. It seed like head professor Coleman wasn’t here to waste ti.
"student Adrian, leaving your disrespect aside, you are to co with now. You are under suspicion of the vile acts committed in the Bellator today." Coleman wasn’t so happy about his introduction and was a little extra harsh. His straight was a bit greater than , but not by much. He wasn’t Desmond after all. I could easily break myself using Angel’s blessing but this wasn’t about power. This was more on the political side of things and had to be handled like that.
"It seems you don’t know the implications of touching a mber of the imperial family." I used my first card prepared against them. No doubt they would have a counter but I wasn’t supposed to know that now, was I? I had to be as clueless as I could.
"We have already obtained permission from the Lux Imperial family. They want to get to the bottom of this as much as we do and they have allowed us to use any ans necessary." Of course, they do. The explanation of Coleman was along my expectations.
That also ans that my first card was now useless. Receiving support from the imperial family was useless. If Rafael got involved, he would only be making my life worse by openly revealing that I have such a powerful entity as my ally.
As for the rest of the old n, I doubt they were aware of this so there was no hope from them. For them, if I was innocent, then I needed to prove it.
[But there’s no proof is there?]
No there wasn’t. There was no proof of my involvent but there was no proof of my innocence either. Even if Sirius ca forward and used all the records that I was supposed to be running dungeons as recorded or breaking through, these were the only excuses he could have used, that still wouldn’t prove my innocence since Rafael wasn’t personally there.
All I could do was just go there and get it over with. The fact of my innocence worked two ways as well.
If I had no way of proving my innocence, then they didn’t have any way of proving my involvent either.
"Sure," I said with a smile that only served to throw off Coleman but he was quick to collect himself.
