Carl and Lin lowered their hands as they looked at each other for a second before placing their attention back towards the two humans before them.
"T-thank god! P-please help us!"
"Hey, hey, hey. Stop right there and don't even take another step forward!"
Carl quickly stopped them by gesturing with his hand towards them when the woman started walking towards them with the girl in tow, while Lin quickly looked around their surroundings because they were starting to get noisy with the appearance of the two unexpected survivors.
As zombies are not their only enemies, but humans too.
Especially when the city is already weird enough where it seems to lack the danger compared to other cities they have seen before. That's a pack full of zombies even on the outskirts, unlike Pearl City that has surprisingly lacking in the numbers of zombies moving about compared to their numbers before the chaos.
"Who are you two? Where did you two co from and why are you here?" asked Carl warily.
After all, not him or even Lin would believe that the two survivors before them are just ordinary survivors if they had managed to survive this long all by themselves, because even kids are already dangerous.
A good example of it are Min and her group of kids.
The two survivors quickly halted in their tracks and nervously looked at them.
"Uhmm, I..I'm Anastasia, and this is my daughter Karina. We are...survivors in this city"
"What about your husband then? Where is he?"
"I'm a single mom, so"
"I see, then why"
"..."
Carl kept throwing questions after questions while the woman answered them as quickly as possible, but Carl and Lin quickly noticed that she looked impatient like she couldn't wait to quickly leave.
"So why are you two here then? Are you guys going sowhere?"
When Lin asked them that question, the eyes of the woman suddenly started getting dodgy while her body started fidgeting around like she's afraid of sothing.
"Uhmm...it's...because...we were following you. It's because we happened to see how you guys took care of the zombie easily when your group had just arrived here and I wanted to ask you if you can bring us with you!"
The woman's voice was so soft from the beginning out of nervousness, but probably because of it, her voice started getting louder by the end of her words.
"B*tch, calm down! Geez, you're gonna attract more zombies with that loud voice of yours!"
"Shut up, both of you"
Lin quickly gestured for both of them to lower their voice, especially to Carl. Who should have known better as he knows full well the danger of being noisy in a zombie infested city.
"Give one good reason why we should bring you two with us?"
Then Lin turned his attention back to the mother and daughter after telling off Carl to watch his voice and instead focus on watching their surroundings.
"Please, you don't need to bring both of us with you. My daughter, my daughter, at least her, please"
"M-mom, no!"
Anastasia didn't even hesitate and pushed her daughter towards Lin and Carl. Her eyes slowly got red from holding back her tears, while Karina quickly held on to her mother, crying.
Lin and Carl dubiously looked at each other as they felt that the scene before their eyes felt like they had planned it before eting them.
"What do you think?"
"Feels like they planned this sh*t to gain our pity. You know, like in the movies"
"Well, I don't know. How about we get the commander here? He's good at reading people"
Lin and Carl started whispering to each other, while Anastasia looked at them confused while hugging her daughter with a tear stained face that looked like she had maskara on because of how dirty her face is.
"I'll stay here and look after them. You go and see if that truck can still run"
"Ehh, alright. I've never liked hanging out with won anyway"
Carl just shrugged his shoulders after hearing what Lin said and made his way over towards the Truck, while Lin stayed with Anastasia and her kid and gestured for them to sit down sowhere.
"I'll stay here with you guys while Carl is getting that truck running before he leaves and cos with the commander here on their way back. He'll decide what we'll do with you two, so just find a comfortable place on the sidewalk and rest. I'll keep watch"
"Y-yes"
Flustered, Anastasia kept her head down and brought Karina with her on the sidewalk not too far away from Lin and sat down on the ground with her daughter leaning against her chest, while Lin sat on top of a small car and cautiously scanned his surroundings.
Lin looked at the mother and daughter from the corner of his eyes, and when he saw how thin the little girl was. He couldn't help but feel pity for them as he sighed to himself. It was because he saw himself on her before he joined Leo, and so he took his backpack from behind him and took out a small brown tupperware.
And when he opened it up, there were a couple of flavored drinks in a box inside.
Lin took out two chocolate flavored drinks, and waved towards Anastasia.
"Hey lady, co over here, and take this. I can't stand the sight of how weak you are"
Anastasia looked over towards him when she heard his voice, and when her eyes landed on the drinks on Lin's hand, her eyes quickly lit up and even Karina's eyes were shining in excitent as it had been a long ti she had tasted a flavored rink, especially chocolate!
"Take it, the commander doesn't like people who look weak"
Seeing that she's still hesitating if she should co over or not. Lin's voice beca firr as he could certainly see the desire in their eyes.
"Co and take it, don't make repeat myself"
Lin said the third ti as he doesn't have the ti to coax this woman like he's so kind of a gentleman. After all, he already has a woman waiting for him back ho.
Anastasia didn't hesitate anymore and slowly stood up from the ground and made his way over with Karina timidly walking behind her like a shadow.
"Drink up, you'll need a lot of energy if you two want to follow us"
"Thank you, t-thank you so much!"
