Luna acknowledged that and continued on her way. Luna didn't know what it was that was causing the anima to go into a frenzy like this, but a part of her knew that it had sothing to do with Mark.

'Why are you always attracting so much trouble, Mark?'

Mark had no idea why.

But for so reason, Mark could tell that the Bishop's attention was no longer fully on him. It was almost like the Bishop was only throwing pointless distractions his way while she was doing sothing else sowhere far away!

Mark was still trying to get to the Bishop as quickly as possible, but as he moved, he saw sothing from the corner of his eye. A large horde of anima that he sensed on the other side of the island was no longer there. Instead, Mark could see them moving across the island grounds like hundreds of ants heading for sugar as they raced straight toward him.

'So that is what she was focusing on all this while!?'

Mark imdiately knew that the Bishop was the one who called on the anima. It wasn't enough that she was using the humans and trees around to try and distract Mark. Now she was also trying to use the anima all over this island as weapons. Mark's mind raced as he quickly tried to co up with a plan.

Fighting against that many anima wasn't an issue. But doing that while also dodging the Bishop's attacks and protecting the humans at the sa ti was going to be a hassle. Mark needed to create a pathway.

'I need to change the matchups.'

Right now, Hao was fighting alongside gumi as they both tried to kill the Rook. gumi had tried to take off its head as Mark told her to, but its neck was so tough that the sword just couldn't tear through it. Apparently, the ROOK already anticipated a move like what gumi tried and it evolved to make it's neck tougher than the rest of its body on purpose!

Mark put his hand up to his ear and spoke up to those who were connected to the comms.

"We need to change the plan. Alpha One, I can feel you close by, go to Hao and help him handle the spider! Luna! I need you and Alec Ben to keep that horde of anima at bay! Ida is closing in on your location quickly, so tell her the sa thing! Her gravity will be useful there! Hao, pass on this ssage to gumi! Tell her I need her with now!"

The superhumans who heard Mark's orders all began to move. Alpha One had already been moving toward the large spider to fight it, so he didn't even listen to Mark and continued onwards to join Hao in the battle against the spider.

Luna and Alec Ben were the ones who would have their work cut out for them the most due to the sheer number of Human-Anima hybrids that were heading for Mark, but since they were going to be getting help from Ida, they might be able to do it.

Mark grabbed one of the largest trees that was heading towards him and used all of his strength to swing it in an arc around him that blew most of the debris and distractions away! The superhumans that were there were also blown away, but Mark didn't pay them any mind since he knew they would be fine. In that split second, Mark got a good look at the Bishop as she floated in the sky above them like so sort of goddess controlling the world beneath her, and Mark felt his mouth curl into a grin as the Bishop's eyes t his own!

The trees and humans all returned quickly, blocking Mark's view of the Bishop again, but at least now Mark knew where he was supposed to be going, and he just needed to make a straight path forward!

Boom!

The sound of sothing landing beside him drew Mark's eyes to the side, and Mark saw that gumi was the one who landed. gumi was looking directly at Mark with expressionless eyes, and Mark nodded to her and spoke up.

"I'll need you to clear a path through. I can't do that while also taking care of the humans, so you'll need to handle the anima and the trees—"

Mark was suddenly cut short as gumi walked up to him and grabbed him by the shirt. Mark's eyes narrowed as he wondered what the hell she was doing, and gumi released Mark's shirt and then pointed to his forehead while saying one word.

"Please."

Mark figured out what she was asking for quickly enough, and a strange dilemma appeared in Mark's mind. Mark knew that his skill could help gumi beco more expressive, but did gumi know that by allowing him into her head, she was granting him access to all of her mories? Mark didn't think so.

But even if she knew, Mark didn't think it would matter to her. gumi had lived without emotions for so long that sothing like this must be a breath of fresh air to her.

gumi would give Mark all of her mories if it ant that she could feel again.

[Symbol of Gaia] has been activated!

A bright light lit up the area in a golden hue as Mark's forehead began to glow. The storm of anima surrounding the two strongest superhumans in the world served as a backdrop to their partnership as Mark grabbed gumi's slender shoulder. The anima and trees raced for them, but Mark activated the [Aegis of Ares] and [Crown of the Golden Horizon] in a multi-layer defense that protected them both from any disturbances.

gumi closed her eyes and leaned her head forward until she pressed it against Mark's chest as she felt the sensation of Mark's mana washing through her again.

Mark felt the connection between him and gumi growing stronger by the second. The headache that had assaulted Mark the first ti he tried to do this with her was no longer that serious, and when Mark didn't pay attention to it, it was barely noticeable at all.

mories of gumi's childhood began to filter through Mark's mind. The laughter she gave to her parents when she got a toy on her birthday. The joy she felt when she lost her tooth. The happiness in her heart when she had her first kiss.

Mark felt all of it like he had been there right beside her all this ti, and from those mories, Mark drew an even deeper connection to gumi.

"Sigh~!"

After a few seconds, gumi released a calm sigh and opened her eyes gently as she gazed up at Mark. There was a smile dancing at the edge of her lips, and as her mouth began to spread into a wide grin, gumi felt an all-encompassing joy that she couldn't begin to describe.

It was like she was an entirely different person.

WOOSH!

BOOM!

Mark noticed another anima trying to attack the two of them while they were standing together, and his Fangs moved faster than the monster could see and smashed it out of the air, killing it in one go!

[The User has killed 1 High-Level Calamity Class anima ]

'I'll clear a path for you.'

This thought crossed Mark's mind, and he was surprised to hear it because he wasn't the one thinking it! Was that gumi's voice in his head?
