Mark couldn't tell what was on gumi's mind as she stared at him since he couldn't get any form of emotion from her face. After so ti, gumi turned away again, and Mark released an irritated sigh as he also turned away from her. But Mark felt his brow twitch when he felt eyes on him again, and he realized that gumi was looking at him again. Did she have a fucking problem with him or sothing? "Mark, did sothing happen? That woman keeps looking over here."
Arit finally spoke up with a frown when she noticed gumi's stare as well, and Mark just shook his head and told her that there was nothing. He didn't know what the fuck gumi was doing.
"Ignore her."
Mark only said this while turning back to listen to the woman who was talking about Japanese culture and how it related to the upcoming tournant. Mark didn't really pay any attention to what was being said because he knew that this was all just nonsense. At the end of the day, the only thing that everyone ca here for was to listen to Genshi talking about how the tournant was going to be structured. They were just dragging it out as much as possible to get more money from views.
Finally, after more than five different speeches and nearly two hours later, the hostess took the stage and announced Genshi's arrival to give a rundown of how the tournant was going to be done. The applause Genshi received from his call-up was deafening, and Mark could tell at that mont that he wasn't the only one that was fucking tired of listening to speeches!
Genshi walked up to the stage with his hands behind his back and kept a calm face even as the crowd of people scread and applauded him deafeningly. After a few seconds, Genshi raised a hand with his palm facing the crowd to tell them to calm down, and everyone imdiately started to calm themselves. Genshi had a grandfatherly look about him that made him seem very wise and respectable, so just that small movent from him was able to make most of the people in the crowd follow his instructions!
Genshi spoke up, and the comm in Mark's ear buzzed as the translator supplied an English version to him and his team.
"Truthfully, I didn't think we would be here today. Over the past four years, we have suffered many challenges in our journey into a new world. We were attacked, and our existence was threatened by powers far beyond anything we could have possibly imagined, but even in the face of this, Japan did not bend, nor did we buckle. Japan grew stronger with each year, and even with the challenges we faced, Japan has remained one of the leading powers in the world. And now, after so long, we have decided once more to reintroduce ourselves to the world with a flourish. Ladies and gentlen, I welco you to the second-ever Superhuman Tournant."
The applause from the crowd grew exponentially as they all cheered loudly for the speech. Genshi waited calmly to allow them to get their excitent out of their system, and it wasn't until he was sure that there would be no more applause that he raised his hand to quiet down the last remaining people who were a bit too excited and finally spoke up again.
"My na is Genshi Naruhito, and I present to all of you the format for the upcoming tournant."
Behind Genshi, a large screen suddenly lit up and showed a satellite view of an island. At the top of the image, a blue electronic-type font wrote out the words 'Oshima Island.'
"The country is more than aware of the desires that you all have expressed for the upcoming tournant, and we know that you all would be satisfied by nothing less than the very best. Therefore, for the sake of this tournant, we as a country have decided to donate this island towards the Superhumans. The Oshima Island, spanning nearly a hundred kiloters, will be the venue for this tournant, and here the superhumans will be allowed to not only use the full extent of their abilities but to go even further beyond. We as a governnt have decided that we will hold no superhuman accountable for any damage caused to this island during the duration of this tournant."
Another resounding round of cheers echoed through the auditorium as the people all cheered for the announcent. Hearing that the governnt was allowing the superhumans to completely destroy an island filled them with renewed excitent since it ant that the superhumans were going to be allowed to go all out in the fights! None of them were able to even stay in their seats for the announcent!
Mark and many other superhumans were the only ones who didn't bother to clap for the announcent since they knew the real reason why the governnt gave them that island. The Japanese governnt was basically saying that the superhumans were allowed to do whatever they wanted so long as it wasn't on the mainland. The governnt would rather lose an entire island than allow the superhumans to fight their tournant on the mainland.
Genshi continued talking as the cheers finally started to die down.
"As for the scoring in the upcoming tournant, the format is going to be a simple one!"
The image on the screen changed again, this ti showing a video of various anima that were being held down by chains and in cages. Once they saw it, the people sitting in the crowd all went silent as their eyes widened in shock, and Genshi grinned as he continued talking.
"We have captured various anima from Disaster class all the way up to Eldritch class, and we have kept them in a secure storage facility for the past few months in preparation for this tournant. Before the tournant begins, all of these anima are going to be released onto the island and allowed to roam freely. The expectations are simple. The superhumans in the tournant are going to be tasked with dealing with these creatures, and they are going to be granted scores based on the anima that they defeat. Each of these anima has been fed with a crystal, and upon the defeat of an anima, whoever possesses the crystal will be awarded the points for the defeat. At the end of the tournant, the team with the most crystals between all ten of them will be announced as the winners.
"There will be no place to hide and no judgnt from any of us! Whether you gain a crystal by stealing it, by killing an anima, or even by taking one from another team, we hold no penalties for such things! Kill, maim, destroy to your heart's content! All that matters at the end of it all is who holds the most crystals! The superhumans are not only going to be fighting against the anima! As the tournant moves forward and the number of anima wanes, their biggest foe in this tournant will be themselves! Let us watch and see who shall erge from this bloodbath as the victor!"
"YARRRRGHGHHHHH!!!!!!!!"
Mark could feel the ground under his feet shaking as the crowd suddenly roared at the top of their lungs in a mad frenzy that threatened to bring the entire auditorium down on them!
